Summary: Kame's dream was to stay in one place permanantly..will his dream ever come true.
Every one hates being the new kid in school. No friends, new classes, new teachers and new environment...especially if your name was Kazuya Kamenashi. Being one of four sons from a very rich family he tended to move around alot and more than once he wished that they could stay in one country, one city and he could stay in one school. He never went out for any of the sports teams in any of his previous schools, not because he didn’t have any athletic ability...he did, he was a very good baseball player, but because he would just have to up and move around again. So he never really got close to any of his classmates...the pain of saying good bye was too much for him and he was sick of the pain. Our story starts on a cool fall morning with Kame’s mom knocking on his door making sure he was up.
“ Kazu? Are you up yet? You start your new school today.” She says before heading off to work.
“ Yeah, yeah...I’m up.” he opens his bedroom door so he can speak to her properly, “ So how long are we staying in Tokyo?” he asks.
“ I don’t know, dear. I know you’re tired of moving and changing schools and its hard for you to make friends not knowing when you’re just going to have to say good-bye. But I’ll ask your father when he gets home tonight ok?” She said giving her son sympathetic smile.
“ Okay, Thanks mom. Do you think Dad will ever talk to me again?” He asks remembering the night he came out to his parents that he was gay.
“ Yeah, he just has to come to terms with it first. He didn’t throw you out nor did he disown you so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. He still loves you and I think a small part of him always suspected as much but he still hoped he was wrong.” She says reassuringly.
Kame nods and heads off to school. He gets there about a quarter to eight, luckily his first class didn’t start until 8:05. When he gets there the halls are packed and noisy, but over the heavy din of all the students talking and laughing at once he hears someone shout..” OI!! Watch it Nakamaru! I just bought these sneakers!”, turning his head to locate the source of the noise he sees the guy stalk angrily off to the boys restroom. Maybe it was curiosity that caused him to follow the guy into the bathroom, maybe it was something more..he didn’t know.
He’s about to open the door when he hears “ Hey...new kid!” coming from behind him. Turning around he comes face to face with Nishikido Ryo and his crew.
“ Just where do you think you’re going?” Ryo asks.
“ Not that its any of your concern...the bathroom.” Kame answers back annoyed just as the guy he saw from earlier comes out and stands right behind his right shoulder.
“ All newbies have to use the boys restroom on the second floor...unless you wanna it make worth my while.” Ryo says suggestively.
“ Whatever” Was all Kame said.
“ Leave him alone Nishikido, you’re not his type.” The other guy says as Kame gives him sideways look.
“ You stay out of this Tanaka...or I’ll..” Tanaka just raises an eyebrow and cuts across him...
“ Or you’ll.....what?” He says just as a teacher walks by.
“ Nothing. Let’s go guys.” Ryo relents seeing as he couldn’t do anything in a crowded hallway with teachers all over the place...that and the bell rang, leaving Kame and the other guy in peace for the time being.
“ Sorry about him. Don’t pay attention to that maggot he’s more bark than bite. Hi, name’s Tanaka Koki. Just call me Koki.” He smiles.
“ Hi. Name’s Kamenashi Kazuya. But you can call me Kazu or Kame. Thanks for your help back there.” Kame answers back.
“ Don’t mention it Kazuya. One thing I should warn you about though is that Ryo was serious about making it worth his while, that leacher can spot a virgin a mile away. Him and his friends have this on going contest to see who can bag the most virgins regardless of gender...even if it means forcing the other person.”
“ I’ll keep that in mind and thanks for the warning. What about you?”
“ I don’t go for that. I don’t have a problem with doing that as long as the other person is willing. So what’s your first class?” Koki replies.
“ History. But like Ryo so kindly pointed out to the whole hall..I’m new and I have no clue where it is.” Kame admits handing his schedule to Koki.
“ Hey we got all the same classes. Just follow me and I’ll show you where it is.” Koki says and starts walking as he motions for Kame to follow.
“ So are the rumors true?”
“ What rumors?” Kame asks perplexed.
“ Oh nothing really, its just...aren’t you the son of the famous architect...Hiro Kamenashi? Its okay if you don’t want to answer as it is a rather personal ques....” He’s cut off by Kame....
“ Its okay. Yes, I am. But I don’t know how long I will be in Tokyo for as my family moves around a lot. So I don’t make it a point to make friends with anyone.” Kame says.
“ Oh..” was all Koki could say.
“ Its not that I hate people or anything, its just I have had to leave so many close friends behind saying good bye all the time has just become too painful.” Kame answers back as his eyes become sad.
“ Oh we’re here. There’s an empty seat next to me and one next to Ryo’s friend Yamapi who’s almost as bad as Ryo is. But its up to you where you want to sit.” Koki says and heads into class leaving Kame standing outside the door.
After about five minutes Kame walks in and does the customary greeting and introduction. When he’s done the teacher tells him to take a seat, he scans the seat next to Koki where he sees Koki doodling in his notebook, then his eyes turn to look in Yamapi’s direction..not liking the lecherous smile as Tomo looks Kame up and down he moves off to sit by Koki. At least he’s safer this way or that’s how he reasons it to himself. As he sits down Koki looks up from what he was doing and smiles at him, “ He does have a wonderful smile. Wait..what am I thinking? Even if he is...there’s no point in trying to get anything started.” he thinks as he returns the smile in spite of himself.
“ I didn’t mean to upset you earlier about what I said in regards to not making friends.” Kame writes on piece of paper and getting Koki’s attention, hands it to him.
“ Its alright Kazu, I understand. My family used to move around alot as well until a year ago.” He writes back and after checking to make sure their teacher wasn’t watching he hands it back to Kame.
“ But I think I would like a friend anyway in spite of my “no friends” rule.” he writes and slips on Koki’s desk just as the teacher turns his back.
Koki reaches for the note and their hands touch, just for a moment, they freeze as if both were hit by a the same electrical charge then Kame slips hand out from under Koki’s. Koki opens the note, reads it and, looking over, smiles at Kame. He slips the note into his back pocket just as Tomo says....
“ Sensei? Koki and the new guy are passing notes back and forth.” He says after witnessing the exchange between Kame and Koki.
Their teacher looks up and asks:
“ Tanaka-kun, Kamenashi-kun is what Yamashita-kun says..true? I don’t need to remind you that passing notes in class is against the class rules, do I?”
“ No, sir. Kame didn’t understand something so I was showing my notes to help him out.” Koki lies but shows the notes he was taking anyway, while Kame glares at Tomo. Fortunately, Koki’s friend Ueda takes the note from his pants pocket and slips into his notebook to give to Koki after class.
“ Alright, Tanaka-kun. Just make sure you remember my rules.” Their teacher says and goes back to what he was doing, only to be interrupted again by Tomo.
“ But Sensei...he’s lying. I saw him slip it into his back pocket.” Tomo says.
Sighing their teacher asks Koki to come up to his desk and empty his pockets if only to shut Tomo up and so they can get on with the rest of the class. Standing up Koki looks briefly at Kame and Ueda and goes to empty his pockets on to the teacher’s desk. After finding nothing but a wad of cash, car keys, cell phone and the latest picture of his dog Sora-chan, the teacher seems satisfied and allows Koki to put his stuff back and let’s him sat back down. Koki smiles knowingly at Ueda as he’s walking back to his seat.
“ Okay, class listen up. There’s going to be test next week over everything we’ve learned over the Japan’s Samurai time period, it will account for 50% of your grade for the semester...so make sure you study.” Their teacher says and receives a collective groan from the room at large.
“ What about Kamenashi-kun, Sensei, he started in the middle of the semester?” Tomo asks.
Before Kame could answer Koki says...
“ He’ll do fine. I’ll help him study so he passes.”
“ Is that okay with you Kamenashi-kun?” The teacher asks.
Kame smiles at Koki and says, “ Its okay. I’ll take it, I’m sure with Tanaka-kun’s help I’ll do just fine.”
“ Okay...class dismissed.”
As everyone is packing their stuff away, Tomo walks over to where Koki, Kame and Ueda were just as Ueda goes to give Koki his note back. He yanks out of Ueda’s hand as their teacher leaves the room.
“ I knew it! Let’s see what was so important.” He grins.
“ Oi! Give it back!” Koki shouts.
Ignoring Koki’s outburst he starts unfolding the piece of paper.
“ Uh...Sorry. That’s private.” Kame says and snatches it back while Tomo’s face flushes with anger.
“ Let’s go guys.” Ueda says and the trio head off to their next classes.
Its lunch time by the time Ryo and his gang of friends track down Koki’s group which now includes Kame only Koki’s the only one he’s willing to open up too and risk having a friendship with. He’s friendly with Ueda, Maru and Junno but he’s not so willing to become friends with the other three in case he has to move again, at least this way the pain won’t be so bad.
“ Uh oh...” Maru says.
“ What’s up?” Kame asks.
“ Its Ryo and his crew. He looks pissed.” Junno replies.
“ Hey Kame...wanna make Ryo’s mood even worse?” Koki asks and smiles evilly.
“ Yeah sure. He annoys me anyway.” Kame says with a shrug.
“ Maru, Junno and Ueda just follow my lead. He’s set his sights on Kame for his whole “let’s see who can bang the most virgins” game.”
“ What are you going to do, Koki?”
“ You’ll see.” he remarks and whispers quickly in Kame’s ear. Kame nods and leans against Koki, allowing Koki to wrap his arms around him.
“ Koki!! What in the hell do you think you’re doing? You know full well I saw him first.” He glares and points at Kame. “ He was supposed to wind up next to Tomo during first period...all my future conquests sit there...how in the hell did he wind up next to you?”
“ Like I said this morning, idiot, you’re not Kazu’s type. Besides, you’ve been bugging me to join in your stupid game so I figured I’d go after him myself.” He smirks as he runs his tongue lightly up Kame’s neck causing Kame to shiver slightly.
The bell rings signaling the end of lunch just as Ryo says...
“ Why you....he will be mine, you guys got that.” He turns and stalks off.
When he’s gone Kame, though not really wanting to get up, moves off of Koki and they all burst out laughing at Ryo’s expense as they head back inside for the remainder of their classes. The school day ends and Kame and Koki are heading to their vehicles. Koki to his motor bike (which he doesn’t take out very often) and Kame to his car.
“ That your bike, Koki?” Kame asks as a whistle passes his lips.
“ Yep, she’s a beauty ain’t she?” Koki smiles. “ Yeah its something else that Ryo dislikes me for..his parents won’t let him have one.”
“ Yes she is. But your’s don’t mind?” Kame asks as he unlocks the driver’s side door of his brand new sports car.
“ Nah...they don’t much anymore. They passed away two years ago in a car accident.” Koki says quietly.
“ I’m sorry Koki...I shouldn’t have asked. But wait...did you say car accident and your surname is Tanaka?” Kame asks.
“Yeah. Why?” Koki asks slightly confused.
“ You aren’t by any chance related to Kousuke Tanaka, are you? The guy that owns like four popular hotel chains all around the world?” Kame asks carefully.
“ Yeah I’m one of his sons.”
“ I don’t mean to be nosey but I do remember my dad doing business with a guy with that name and then like a year later the guy and his wife were in the papers due to a car wreck and...” Kame stops and says... “ Um..maybe I should go now. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He goes to get in his car when Koki stops him.
“ Its okay, Kazu. I don’t mind talking about it with you.” He says standing close to Kame, a little too close. “ Besides, I’d rather celebrate my parents lives not morn their deaths. But its getting late, we’ll have to hang out sometime and I can tell you more about it.” Koki smiles reassuringly.
“ Okay. I’ll see you later.”
They part and go their separate ways. Kame walks in the door of his mansion to find his little brother searching frantically for something.
“ What are you looking for Ryu?”
“ My rabbit..he got out.”
“This is why he’s supposed to stay in his cage.” Kame sighs and helps his brother look for the animal.
Two hours later Kame finds it hiding under the couch in the den. He grabs it and gives it back to his brother and goes to make dinner while his parents are at work, they called and told Kame that they would be working until late. While Ryu does the dishes, Kame gets started on his biology and english homework and grumbling about how his brother gets to have a pet and he doesn’t. Its childish but he doesn’t care, he’s been asking for a dog ever since he could remember. Its almost midnight when he hears the front door unlock from his chair at the dining room table, he stands and stretches and goes to meet his parents at the door.
“ We’re back! Oh hey Kame. We’re sorry for being so late.” His mother says and hugs him.
“ Its alright. I was just studying for my history test next week. So how was work?” He asked.
“ Just fine.” She answers and goes to make some tea.
While his mother is busy in the kitchen his dad says...
“ Hey Kazuya? I wanna talk to you.”
“Okay.” Kame says and follows his father into the den.
“ So what’s up?” He knew he wasn’t in trouble since he hasn’t been in the city long to get into trouble.
“ I wanted to apologize for the way I’ve been acting ever since you told us your secret. It was wrong of me and while I always had a notion..I still wanted to be wrong. But After several exceptionally long talks with your mother and I realized I was acting like my own father did when he found out I was marrying your mother. He didn’t talk to me for the rest of his natural life. I’m sorry Kazu. You’re my son and I will always love you. I don’t care about your sexual preferences more than I do about you. I’m proud of you, it took real guts to come out like you did not knowing how I would react. Only a real man would risk getting disowned just to be honest with his father and for that I’m proud of you Kame.” He smiles.
“ Its alright dad, I know it wasn’t what you wanted to hear and I was more hurt than angry.” He walks up and gives his father a hug before heading back into the dinning room the get his school books and heads upstairs to bed. After dropping his books on his desk he grabs a pair of shorts and goes into his bathroom for a nice hot shower. He climbs out, dries off, puts his sleeping shorts on, brushes his teeth and climbs into his king size bed...where he thinks back on his first day at school and his meeting with Koki.
“ Was it really such a good idea to strike up a friendship knowing that I probably won’t be here for very long.” he asks the stars and the moon that shine down through his bedroom window as he sails into dreamland where he dreams of staying in Tokyo for the rest of his life, instead of moving with his parents and brother.

Well, yeah. Isn't it bad enough the poor guy has move around all the time and feel lonely by not having any friends? I couldn't write his dad any other way. That would've been too cruel. ^^
