“ Come on Koki, please wake up. Don’t do this too me, I love you..please.” Kame whispers in fear of being over heard laying his head back down on the bed.
“ Excuse me, Kamenashi-san? Its time to change the sheets on his bed.” The nurse says quietly.
“ Okay, I’ll wait outside then.” Kame says and leaves the room for the three minutes it takes them to change the bedding, when Jin walks up.
“ Hey Kame, has he woken up yet?” Jin asks.
“ No..not yet. The nurses are in there chang....” He doesn’t get very far when he’s cut off by loud shouting coming from Koki’s room..
Kame and Jin barge into the room as the nurses fight with Koki to stay still, not realizing that he’s just afraid.
“Koki! Stop it!” Jin shouts.
Forcing his way over to Koki’s bed Kame manages to grab his hands...
“ Koki stop it. I’m right here, I didn’t go anywhere. You don’t need to be afraid. Now calm down.” Kame says frantically. “ I told you I wasn’t going any where, I was just out in the hall.”
Feeling the familiar hands inside his own and hearing Kame’s voice, Koki does indeed start too calm down just as security comes in restrains Koki’s arms to the bed railing, pushing Kame out of the way thinking Koki’s dangerous while Kame tries frantically to get back Koki’s side as Koki starts trying to pull the chains off. Fortunately the very same doctor that treated Koki the first time gets to treat him this time. The doctor walks in on a very chaotic scene of Jin trying to keep Kame from getting arrested for assault on a rent-a-cop, the nurses trying desperately to calm a frightened and detoxing heroine addict and Koki fighting desperately against the restraints that currently bind him to his bed. Kame recognizes the doctor from a week ago and runs over...
“ Please doc, tell them to let him go. I had him calmed down but these two meat heads came in and chained him up, he just woke up, he’s currently detoxing from his heroine addiction and he’s just frightened.” Kame pleads.
“ Kame’s right, Doc. Koki’s not dangerous and he trusts Kazuya.” Jin says in Koki’s defense, an action which doesn’t go unnoticed by Koki even though he’s still fighting to get free.
“ I can get him to stop...just tell them to let him go.” Kame begs.
“ I know he told me that the last time he was here. Okay, guys. Let Tanaka-san go. A word of this gets out I will personally make sure you two get sued for slander.” The doctor warns as Koki’s freed from his restraints at the same time as Kame runs over...
“Its okay. I’m here and the restraints are gone.” Koki stops fighting and calms down.
“ I’m sorry ladies...I didn’t hurt you did I?” Koki asks the two nurses.
“ We’re okay, Tanaka-san. Natsumi and I used to work with recovering addicts so we have seen it before.” They reassure Koki. “ But we still would like to change your sheets...okay?”
“ Okay” Koki agrees.
“ Now that the patient has indeed calmed down..can I talk to you two outside?” Doctor says to Kame and Jin.
“ Kazuya...” Koki starts...
“ I’ll just be right outside your door, I’ll be right back.”
Koki just nods and allows the nurses to change his bedding, as Kame and Jin follow the doctor...
“ How much as he cut back, Kamenashi-san?”
“ Alot more than he was supposed too. He normally takes a syringe full, I had planned to drop that dose little by little..but he’s one of the most stubborn people I have treated so far. I warned him this might happen but he wouldn’t listen, I’m just glad we were able to bring him back....now I can kill him personally.” Kame says in annoyed but joking tone.
“ So what caused him to pass out?” Jin asked.
“ He cut back too much too soon and it caused him to go into cardiac arrest. I checked your credentials and I see that you have a very good success rate, passing on your most difficult patients to those more experienced.” the doctor replies back.
“ Yeah, I know when I’m in over my head. So, when can he come home? He still has work to do and I have never taken care of tropical fish before.” Kame asks.
“ Well, I would like to keep him overnight for observational purposes. Just to be on the safe side.”
“ Sure thing.” Kame agrees and the doctor leaves to check on his other patients.
“ Well, I have to get back to work. I’m so not telling maru and the others what just happened here. For all we know, Nakamaru would just come by causing a ruckus again and Koki doesn’t need that right now.” Jin says.
“ Thanks Jin.” Kame says as they head back into Koki’s room just as the nurses get done changing the bed.
With three of them alone Koki says...
“ Thanks Jin.” Koki says.
“ For what?”
“ For what you said about me not being a danger to anyone.” Koki explains.
“ Anytime Koki. Now since you’re awake I can get back to work and tell the others that you’re going to be okay.” Jin says and takes his leave.
“ I warned you this might happen, Koki.” Kame says
“ I know Kazu..I just want this stuff out of my system already. I hate the shaking, the pain and being so cold that I feel like I was frozen in the snow for thousands of years. Um, I know you probably won’t like hearing this but I came to a realization while I was hovering between life and death.” Koki says.
“ Which is..what?”Kame asks.
“ When I was still unconscious..I heard what you said and I have noticed your feelings for a while now. Even before Maru broke up with me and I know how hard this has been on you. I think that’s why I felt more comfortable telling you first about my addictions than Maru. In the last few months or so when me and maru were together..I knew neither one of us were happy but I was too afraid to let him go and I didn’t want to acknowledge then what I’m ready to admit to now. I understand if you’re not able to believe me right now while I’m getting off one drug and still getting high off of another but..I-I love you Kame and have loved you for the last three months. I know the timing isn’t right but I thought you should know.” Koki confesses while he just looks down wondering if it really is the drugs talking.
“ Koki...I..loved you for alot longer than you know and yeah the timing is bad. But can I try something?” Kame asks pulling the curtains around Koki’s bed so nobody sees two of Japan’s top idols getting ready to make out in a public place and wondering the same thing as Koki.
Looking up at Kame, Koki says, “ S-sure”
Kame leans in and gently presses his lips to Koki’s. Koki’s shocked for a few seconds before closing his eyes and gives in too Kame’s kiss, feeling Kame’s tongue lick his bottom lip asking for entrance. Koki obliges and parts his lips enough to allow Kame’s tongue to slip in as he sits on the edge of the bed never breaking the kiss. Koki or Kame moan as they get lost in the taste and feel of each other’s tongues moving in perfect rhythm, pulling away before things get any heavier Kame says....
“ I got my answer. How about you?” He smiles.
“ Me too.” Koki smiles back fully and genuinely for the second time since his break up with Yuichi and since he started his detox treatment. While Kame pulls the curtains back to their original starting point.
“ At least we know its right, right?” Kame asks.
“Yeah and I’m glad, so how long am I stuck here?” Koki asks.
“ As of right now...until tomorrow. The doctor wants to keep you here for observation. Maru came by yesterday with Ueda, who tried to get him to stay at home. I hope you don’t mind Koki but I let him sit with you for a few minutes.” Kame said quietly.
“ Its fine. He’s still not calling you names is he?” Koki asks.
“ Yes he is.” Kame admits.
“ Why that bastard...I warned him to...” Koki begins but Kame hushes him...
“Koki don’t. He has apologized and explain why he’s acting like he is. He still blames me for what’s happened and is happening and he feels jealous that you’re so willingly to let me help you, when you refused his help and fought him every time he tried. While its still not okay, it is forgivable. But I need you to do something for me in the next week or so, Koki.”
“ Let me guess...I have to listen to Maru’s explanations without blowing up and getting pissed, right?” Koki half hazards a guess.
“ Yes or you won’t ever be able to forgive him and be friends again.” Kame says.
“ Hmm...as long as he cuts out the name calling while we’re talking and realizes that none of this is your fault, I will.” Koki agrees.
“ Good now I have work to get back too. Are you going to be okay for a few hours while I’m gone?” Kame asks.
“ No. But I won’t keep you from work..your fans are waiting for your drama and they expect it to be good. Can you bring some normal food when you come back? This hospital food is terrible.” Koki asks.
“ Yeah sure. I’ll try and get done as early as possible.” With that Kame heads off to work texting Ueda to see if he can sit with Koki for a bit until he’s done filming.
An hour later Ueda walks through Koki’s hospital room door, carrying Koki’s solo he was working on in the hopes that if he’s kept busy enough he won’t think about the pain he’s still feeling from his grandfather’s death.
“ Hey Tat-chan.” Koki smiles as his friend walks in.
“ Hey Joker. Here I brought your solo and some interview questions we had to fill out today.”
“ Thanks Tat-chan. So how is everything going with Maru? I know you two are together and I’m fine with that.”
“ When you’re not the subject of conversation..just fine. I know its not your fault he can’t stop being so angry, its his. He’s the only one that blames Kame for your addiction. Now get to work while I go use the bathroom. I won’t leave until Kame comes back.”
Koki nods and gets to work or tries to but he’s shaking so bad that he can barely hold on to the pen. In the end Ueda wrote the answers to the questions while Koki dictated to him what to write. Ueda even helped Koki with his solo as much as he could. It was half past nine when Kame finally got done and after waking Ueda up, he told him that he can go home and get some sleep. After Ueda leaves Kame sets Koki’s dinner down and tip toes over and whispers...
“ Hey baby wake up. I’m back and I brought us dinner.” he lightly kisses the top of Koki’s head.
“ Hey, beautiful.” Koki yawns and sits up. “ How did filming go?” he asked.
“ Just fine. How about you?”
“ It was rough but Tat-chan helped the best he could. Still I found myself wishing that something would happen so the director had to cancel filming for the day, just so you could come back. But I managed to get some work done and with Ueda one has no choice, seeing as he probably would have killed me if I didn’t try and get my solo done. So..what’s for dinner?” Koki asks realizing just how hungry he really is.
Kame opens the take out containers and shows Koki the pizza he brought.
“ Thanks Kame..you’re the best. But doesn’t this go against your diet?” Koki asks as he takes a bite of the biggest slice in the container.
“ My diet can survive a night off, Koki. I figured if we’re going to dine together then it should be something we both want to eat.” Kame explains as he helps Koki devour the pizza.
“ Hmm...too bad we’re in a public place, Kame.” Koki says once their food is gone and the containers are thrown in the garbage can.
“ Why is that?”
“ Because now I can’t have dessert.” He says with a predatory glint and a lecherous smile, as Kame raises an eyebrow in his direction knowing full well what Koki’s hinting at.
“ Yeah I know, Koki. But that kiss from this morning was risky enough. Besides, hopefully you'll get discharged tomorrow and seeing as its my day off...” he trails off and nips Koki on the ear, making him shiver for a different reason.
“ You’re such a tease, you know that?” Koki says with light sigh and captures his new boyfriend’s lips.
“ Yeah I know. But you wouldn’t have it any other why right?” Kame says pulling back a little.
“ No, I wouldn’t.” Koki admits and kisses Kame again.
They stay up late into the night while Kame tells Koki about everything he’s missed in two days. Even how Jin made Ryo all embarrassed, causing Ryo to chase him all over JE. It was past one when they finally fell asleep with Koki in the bed and Kame in his chair with his head down next to Koki’s hand.
