Every relationship has its ups, downs, beginnings, endings and everything in between. This is one such story. Kame has seen TaNaka get into fights before but lately their fights have gotten worse...ALOT worse. In the beginning Koki and Maru were happily in love and they were inseparable, no one could get in the middle..well except Kame. Things were great for the couple until about two years after their debut and Koki suddenly had more money coming in than he knew what to do with, his job was stressful and when his grandfather died he didn’t know how to deal with the pain he was feeling and no matter what his boyfriend said it didn’t help, so he turned to drugs in an attempt to kill the pain he was feeling. When he wasn’t on camera he was withdrawn and used the bathroom alot. He started blowing up at everyone around him and he was neglecting Maru as well, granted his cocaine and heroin addiction didn’t help matters any. But he was so depended on the drugs that he couldn’t function much less feel anything without them. One day, after one particular nasty fight over his drug addiction and Koki’s growing lack attention for Maru, that Maru just couldn’t take it any longer and gave his boyfriend an ultimatum- him or the drugs....

“ You can’t be serious Yuichi?!” Koki was shocked beyond words, hot tears forming in the corners of his eyes “ I told you I would stop taking them its just that...its not as easy as you think it is too stop cold turkey.”

“ I am serious Koki...dead serious. I’m sorry but I can’t do this any longer, I can’t love someone who is destroying themselves. So since you won’t stop then I have no choice, I have to think about my own needs this time...I hope you get help before its too late.” Maru says walking out the door to their apartment as Kame and Ueda just watch the scene unfold in front of them.

Kame gives Ueda a look and nodding they head to their respective charge...Ueda to Maru and Kame to Koki. Koki watches Ueda as he passes and gets an understanding look and smile before Ueda disappears out the door. Koki knows Kame’s still in the room as he walks over to the cabinet by the tv and pulls out a small mirror, a plastic baggy with a fine white powder in it, and a razor blade. He takes the items over to the dining room table and starts snorting just as Kame sits down next to him. He doesn’t disturb Koki until Koki gets up walks back over to the cabinet and pulls out his needles and only then does Kame make his move....

“ Koki..stop.”  He says gently and places his hand over Koki’s and the needles.

“ Kame let go..”  Koki says getting angry as the cocaine courses through his body.

“ Please..Koki..”  Kame says gently as his eyes get moist.

Koki relents and presses the needles and drugs into Kame’s other hand and watches as Kame just puts them back in the cabinet. Coming back to his friend he wraps his arms around him and whispers....

“ Thank you, Koki.” Koki just nods.

Its only when Koki comes down from his high that he finally processes everything that happened, the fight, Maru possibly breaking up with him and Kame’s apparent understanding where Maru doesn’t. He gets up and goes in search of his friend who he finds in the kitchen cooking lunch for the both of them.

“ Kame, what are you doing?”  he asks from the doorway.

“ Cooking silly. What does it look like.” Kame smiles and places their food on the table when he’s done.

“ But aren’t you just going to leave me like Maru and everyone else did?” he asks genuinely curious as he starts on his food.

“ No, What kind of friend, let alone person, would I be. Besides, you being alone isn’t going to help you kick your addictions now is it?” he replies back as he starts eating as well.

Koki just smiles as they eat their meal in silence. Koki feels comfortable around Kame for reasons he hasn’t quite figured out yet. Nor can he figure out why, much less how, Kame seems to understand how best to help him-only Kame does and Koki wishes Kame would explain it because he’s confused. After eating and cleaning the dishes Kame walks over to where Koki keeps his PS3 and puts the new Final Fantasy game in the console and just waits for Koki to join him. Koki grabs some sodas from his fridge and joins his best friend.

“ Koki...how do you beat this stupid boss? I’ve died like eight times already.” Kame whines as Koki sits on the couch next to him.

“ Here.” he hands Kame his drink and pops the tab on his own before saying, “ oh come on Kazu..I’ve showed you how to do this at least a million times already.”

“ I forgot..please help me Koki?”  Kame says pouting and giving Koki the kicked puppy look to boot.

Knowing that he knows that Kame knows that now Koki can’t refuse him he relents and reaches for the controller....

“ Remember just hit triangle, circle, square and RT1, and the boss goes down without too much trouble.”

“ Thanks Koki, you’re best.”  Kame flashes that million dollar smile of his and watches Koki demolishes the next four levels with ease.

They spend the next twelve hours playing video games or watching movies, anime, or just clowning around in general, stopping only long enough to eat and go to the bathroom. They were having a good time just hanging out with each other and having so much fun that Koki could honestly say that the pain and abandonment feelings he was coping with weren’t as bad as he thought it would be, probably because Kame refuses to allow to him space to think about the events from this morning. All was going well, or rather as well as anyone in Koki’s position could hope for, when as luck would have it Maru’s drama Rescue Me came on.

“ Uh oh...” Kame muttered as he felt Koki tense up underneath him due to practically laying in Koki’s lap, he quickly switches to a channel that neither them nor Maru are bound to appear on; at the same time as Koki moves to go shoot up just to kill the pain that was a semi-dull ache intensified. Knowing where Koki was wanting to go and for what Kame wraps his arms around Koki’s waist squeezing the older man so hard he nearly takes the breath right out of him.

“ Kazu..please...let me go.” Koki says.

“ Don’t Koki...you’re doing so well. You only got high once today, I worry about you..so just please don’t shoot up tonight.”  Kame was practically begging Koki to stay seated. “ I can understand the pain you’re feeling of losing your grandfather and now maru and that we all have more money than we know what to do with. Even though I can’t fully understand what your body must be going through with only having the one drug but..please..” He was full on crying now.

Not wanting to add someone else’s pain to his conscious he leans back into sofa, looking down at his friend and hearing his quiet sobbing he says...

“ Okay, Kame, you win. I won’t shoot up tonight but don’t expect me to promise that I won’t wind up by giving in.” He rubs small soothing circles on Kame’s lower back, trying calm him down.

Kame sits up, clears his nose with the tissues that Koki leaves by his couch for when Kame watches sad dramaa with him and says...

“ Thank you. I don’t expect you to promise what you can’t give at this point, but I do expect you to at least try..if not for me than for yourself.”

“ I know Kame.” Koki smiles and his smile warms Kame’s heart. “ So how long do you plan on staying anyway? Not that I mind but you have filming in the morning while its my day off?”

“ As long as I need too, Koki. You being alone is not the best thing for you right now. But as it is your apartment its really up to you.

Koki thinks for a bit and realizes that Kame’s right and it would be bad for him to be alone right now, at least having Kame stay would ensure that he makes it through the night and not over dose on accident.

“Its okay, you can stay. Um, will you stay over? I don’t trust myself right now and..” he trails off, he’s always had a hard time asking anyone for help except Kame. He never asks Kame to help him, never had too, Kame always seemed to know when to help him and when to back off.

“ Sure I’ll stay.” He gives Koki a reassuring that smile so that Koki knows that Kame really will be here when he wakes up.

“ Lets get to bed shall we? You have to get up early Kame.”

“ Sure.”  Kame says as Koki hands him the blankets and pillows from the linen closet. “ Try and get some sleep Koki, okay?” Kame asks as he snuggles under the blankets after changing into the shorts Koki lent him. Koki nods and heads to what used to be his and Maru’s bedroom.

Unfortunately neither Kame nor Koki can’t seem to fall asleep. Kame was too worried about Koki and Koki couldn’t get his brain to shut down. He just laid in bed just staring up at the ceiling wondering where Maru was and how he’s doing. He would be lying to himself if he tried to say that it wasn’t lonely without Maru’s warm body or any warm body pressed against him, keeping the chill away. He tosses and turns getting more and more frustrated that he feels way too lonely to sleep by himself, he grabs his phone and texts Kame who was in the next room having sleeping issues of his own. If truth be told Kame has been harboring feelings for Koki for quite some time now and would have confessed only Maru beat him to it. Hearing that Koki felt the same for Maru, Kame knew had he no choice but to live with these feelings not wanting too let then go but at least now he wouldn’t have to make Koki choose, seeing as Kame would’ve lost anyway.

Kame’s phone goes off disconnecting his train of thoughts and the words.. “ I can’t sleep” flash on the screen. Kame smiles and realizes that Koki’s, among many things, lonely. So he sends a message back to Koki asking...

“ Here or there?”

Koki sends one back asking Kame to come and sleep in his room, Kame says he’s on his way. Grabbing his phone he heads into Koki’s bedroom.

“ Can’t sleep huh?” he remarks as he shuts and locks the door behind him. “ Lonely?”

“ Yeah, kinda.” Koki admits as he feels a light blush creep up his neck for some reason.

Smiling Kame walks over and climbs in next to Koki. Koki, in turn, rolls over and wraps his arm around Kame pulling him closer.

“ If you feel up too it, want to hang around the set with me tomorrow?” Kame asks hopefully.

Yawning finally Koki says..” Yeah sure. Goodnight Kame.”

“ Good night Koki.”  Kame says as he feels his friend’s light breathing against his neck as he falls asleep with a smile on his face, knowing that Maru would flip if he saw them now and that Kame will get Koki to kick his addictions come hell or high water.
