Koki was lazying across the small sofa with Kame’s head in his lap playing some video game Junno lent him, one hand holding a book while the other was busy with Kame’s hair causing a pleasant hum to escape his lover’s lips. Koki puts the book down when he was finished and he just started it this morning, he found that he could finish surprisingly quicker after Kame showed him that he could use his pendant’s powers to turn the pages, and he plants a kiss in Kame’s hair getting Kame to hit the pause button.

“ How long are you going to keep playing that game, Kazu, you’ve been at it for like three days already. We haven’t...you know the whole time you have had that stupid game, Is proving Taguchi wrong that damn important?” Koki whines.

Smiling up at his pouting lover Kame says, “ Yes, it is. We’ll play as long as you like tonight after we get back, I promise.” He pulls Koki down by his collar and kisses him lightly and then goes back to his game. Sulking, Koki goes back to reading another book that he’s always wanted too read, it was a birthday gift from Kame.

“ So Kame..”

“Hn..”

“ How does it feel to own your own advertising agency? I was surprised the president left it to you.” He asks after a few minutes.

“ I was too, but since he didn’t have any children or surviving relatives he put me down in his will as his sole heir. I always knew he liked me but I never he thought of me as the son he never had. But its fun and I like it alot, I only have to show up for meetings sometimes which I can schedule at night so I can avoid the sun...other than that its not so bad. That and I get too keep up the lifestyle I became accustomed too. But shouldn’t I be the one asking that since you own half the company as well?” Kame responds, remember how Koki offered buy half the company from his boyfriend to take some of the stress off of Kame.

“ Other than the female employees constantly flirting with me every time I show up, I found it to be the most fun I have ever had in my life.” He teases, knowing that making that specific reference makes Kame jealous to the point where he starts pouting for days until Koki takes back what he said.

“ Hey!! What am I? Chopped liver?” Kame asks indignantly, getting jealous.

“Hahahaha..” Koki laughs “ I’m just joking baby, you’re the most fun I have ever had in my life. Everything else comes second to you.” He says and gives Kame a reassuring kiss.

“ That’s better. Hey...I did it Koki!!” Kame gets up and starts jumping up and down like an excited five year old.

“ D-did what?” Koki asks totally taken aback by his partner’s sudden outburst.

“ I did it! I finally beat Junno’s high score!” He shouts happily still celebrating.

“ Man is he not going to be happy. But nice job, love.” Koki answers back and after a minute or so Kame finds himself free falling into Koki’s lap as Koki’s arms come down around his back.

“ Oh hey Koki...if you have time later, want to come with me when I go see Maru?”

“ I would love too.” He smiles, pulling Kame closer.

They stay wrapped around one another until the sun went down, which happened a lot sooner since it was getting colder outside as the onset of winter hit. Kame climbed off of Koki’s lap and went with him down to where Jun was trying to figure out how to get that accursed tower to disappear.

“ Any luck, Jun?” Kame asked.

“No. Apparently the only way to get rid of it is the same way it was called forth.” He says looking at Kazuya.

“ What? No! There has to be another way!” Koki all but shouts...or would if Kame wasn’t glaring at him.

“ Calm yourself Koki...its okay. Even though I’m still recovering, if I take my time then sending that tower back won’t cause that much of a strain.” Kame says and the look on his face says that he’ll be careful.

“ Thanks Kazuya. We really can’t have that tower out there for longer than it was already.” Jun replies and lets Koki and Kame leave.

“ Koki I know what you’re thinking and if I’m careful and monitor things carefully enough then it won’t harm me.” He says as they walk back through the door to their bedroom.

“ Ready, love?” Koki asks as they slip their pendants on.

“ Yeah let’s go.”

They drive from the Jun’s place to Yuichi’s apartment stopping at Kame’s place long enough to grab what’s left of his stuff, having rented out his apartment to Riku and his family. They park around the corner and walk the rest of the way. Koki goes to knock when Kame spots the open balcony door...

“ Koki..come here. Look up there.” Kame points to the open door.

“ What? You want to go in that way?”

“ Yeah why not? You did it too me and besides if I can spook him it will be funny.” He says as a mischievous smile spreads across his lips.

“ You are an evil little angel then, aren’t you? Sure, let’s go.” Koki smiles as him and Kame jump from the pavement to Maru’s balcony, landing quietly as they heard voices coming from within luckily the lights in the living room were off so Kame and Koki could eavesdrop without being noticed..Maru was on the phone talking to someone and he still didn’t know that Kame survived.

“ Hai..I will see you later then Ryo. Jaa ne.” Maru puts the phone back on its receiver and goes to sit on his couch.

“ Yuichi Nakamaru. For the crimes that you have committed against me and my kind..I should kill you..be grateful that I can’t.” Koki says as he enters the living room

Maru turns his head upon hearing his name and sees Koki bearing down upon him. Koki’s teeth glinting in the moonlight and his eyes piercingly bright.

“ I know I deserve death...I know what I...wait..why aren’t you allowed too...” he starts but gets cut off as Kame sweeps in behind Koki...

“ Because I won’t allow them too.” Kame says with a smile.

“ K-kame..you’re..but I thought..I..”

“ We all thought so Maru but thanks to Tomo, I was able to get help right away.”

“ But...how..?”

“ I had no choice but turn him, Nakamaru. Be lucky I was in time or you wouldn’t still be standing here.” Koki glared in Maru’s direction, “ You said you wanted too talk...so talk.” Koki and Kame sit down in the arm chairs by the table.

Taking a deep breath Maru says...

“ I know it won’t mean much but I’m sorry Kame. I should’ve listened to you, Jin, and Ryo when you guys tired to talk me out of what I was doing. But no, I let those pendants take over every thought, every desire that I had and it hurt alot of people and I nearly killed one of the best friends I ever had. Besides, what was done to my family centuries ago..there was another reason that spurred my actions and before I knew it...I was no longer the person that you knew.”

“ Which was?” Koki asked.

“ Jealousy. I was jealous of Kame..I always have been. He’s every thing I wish I was, not only is he good-looking, he’s creative, talented and strong of heart. I know its not an excuse nor am I trying to make any..its just that for once I wanted to be the top dog. I wanted to be the one that everyone looked up too...I..” Koki cuts across him...

“ You wanted to be remembered for something the way Kame and I will be once this story turns to legend.”

“ Yes. From the letter that Kame gave me..my dad and grandfather were the same way only they didn’t get to live long enough to make such a thing happen. When Jin told me that it was Kame who fate decided to let have the red pendant..I thought that if he just gave it too me when I asked for it then I would have my chance to shine for once. But he always refused me and now I can understand why, he had good reason. I can’t control the neither one of those and still keep control over my heart and what it truly wants.” Maru says to Koki.

“ What about Koki? You kept trying to take him from me.” Kame asked.

Reverting his gaze from Koki, Maru says...

“ I fell in love with him the moment I saw his picture and knowing that he had one or both of the pendants, I thought that if he fell for me then I would be a step closer to what I was after. When I found out that you hooked him and were able to get him to do anything you want without using your pendant; I was hurt, jealous, angry and it only worsened when I was around you and when I saw that jacket draped over your recliner. I lost it and jumped on you trying to take it from you and with your pendant’s influence didn’t help me to stop and realize what was I actually doing at the time.”

“ You’re wrong Maru. I don’t control him nor do I try, I care for him too much. He loves me so he willingly does what I ask of him as I told Ryo one night. I’m sorry you’re jealous but what do you want me to do? I won’t give you either my pendant nor will I break things off with Koki.” Kame replies even though he’s not quite sure how to comfort his friend.

“ Its okay, Kame. You can’t do anything nor will I continue ask for what’s not rightfully mine anymore. I just wanted too try and explain things and apologize for all that has transpired. If you can never forgive me and no longer wish for this friendship to continue...I will understand. There aren’t words fitting enough to express how much regret I have...I..” He drops to his knees as his tears start to fall.

“ Kame...?” Was Koki said as he saw the wheels turning in Kame’s brain.

Kame was thinking over everything that Maru told him and tried his best to place himself in Maru’s position, coming to a decision he gets up and walks over to where Maru was on the floor. He kneels down and pulls Maru to his feet...

“ Stop crying already. I forgive you, Yuichi, yes..I still want to be your friend. Though the others aren’t as forgiving as I am..at least not as quickly. They won’t come after you and the Count made it a decree that should any vampyre or human on our side comes after you then Koki has free reign to kill them.” He says and hugs his friend.

“ You...would do that for me Koki, but why? After all I did.” Maru looks to Koki for some sort of explanation.

“ Because of Kame for starters and humans like yourself aren’t all that rare. I have lived long enough to know when death is the acceptable punishment and when its not. Well, we have to get going Kame..we have a tower to put back.” Koki stands up and walks over to the balcony entrance.

“ I’ll see you later, Maru. Oh and you can strengthen your heart..just try and find someone who isn’t Koki and can and will love you back with the same force as you love them.” He smiles back.

With Kame and Koki take off into the night and head back to where that tower sits. Kame closes his eyes and places his hand on the tower’s base. Just as he told Koki, he was slow and careful, and in about ten minutes the ground started shaking for a second time as the Tower of Yamamoto sank back from the very depths it came from.

“ Now that’s over and done with..how about we head back and I can keep a different promise?” Kame smirks as he nips at Koki’s throat.

“ I would love too, baby.” Koki smiles as they head back to Koki’s bedroom for a very fun night. Happy that everything is over with and now they can live together in peace for many, many more years too come.
