After about 3 hours of arguing with Koki about whether or not it was a good idea, Kame headed to his apartment to meet Maru. He didn’t know if it was a good idea or not but he needed to try and end this with his friend before things got out of hand. He wants to save Koki and everyone else be they human or vampyre. Unfortunately for Kame it wasn’t in the cards for him to end things on a peaceful note when he walks into his apartment after noticing it was already open. While he’s not surprised at the mess he finds as he pretty sure Maru came by looking for something and, out of anger, threw his stuff around upon his failure to locate what he was looking for...the missing codex pages, his silver box that his father left him...and anything connecting Kame to Koki. Suddenly a quiet voice speaks from the far right corner making him jump a millimeter in the air....



“ You have had your fun with the pendant and Koki...now its time to give them both back too me.”  Maru said, his voice no longer how Kame remembers it and the penetrating stare he now gave Kame made Kame’s blood turn almost to ice.




“ Maru....I have no intention of handing over either this pendant nor my boyfriend. I understand these pendants and the powers they hold far better than you. I know you feel like you and your family was done a great disservice and that you feel justified in what you’re doing. I won’t be so arrogant and say that I understand because I don’t, but what I can say for certainty is that either one of these will destroy you and I won’t sit by allow that too happen.”  Kame says.



“ Give them to me, Kazuya and I may let your friends live. Deny me whats mine and doom them all to death. Its your choice Kazuya. Either way I will get them both and did you know that the only reason why Koki’s even with you is because of that pendant you where, once its gone he will leave you and not ever look back.” Maru lies trying to get Kame to have the smallest inkling of doubt in Koki’s feelings for him.



“ You lie..” Kame says as his blood starts to boil.

“ Really? I wager it was the only reason why he let you slip through my fingers that night those two drunks attacked you...”  He’s cut off by Kame....



“ It was you that...you were the one who...why?” Kame was shocked, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. It was Maru this whole time, he was the one that set those two perverts loose on Kame.


“ Yes, Kazuya, it was me. I hired them to get your necklace by any means necessary and if that meant doing things that weren’t legal then..” he just trails off. “ But Koki stepped in and rescued you and when you refused to tell me who you were talking, I realized then that you were hiding someone though you didn’t realize who or what he was right away.”


“ You have kept close tabs on me ever since, right?”



“ Yeah, except for when I was running around Europe on a wild goose chase.”


“ So, that’s why you were intent on getting this jacket that night you were over here with Jin and Ryo..Koki was right..you did recognize his jacket.”


“ Yep. Now what’s your decision Kazuya?” Maru asked for the last time.



“ Koki will never be yours, Maru, I can promise you that. When he fell for me he had no idea I possessed his other pendant. He only found out after it was brought up when he came by to see me a week after he saved me. So my answer is neither...you won’t have this pendant nor Koki. I will take the risk of war to stop you if I have too.”  



Kame turns to leave when all of a sudden he’s grabbed from behind as everything around him went black.


“ You’re wrong Kazuya. And now that I have your pendant, Koki will be where he rightfully belongs...with me. You and your friends will die tomorrow night by my hand.” He says and leaves with the pendant around his neck.


Kame wakes up two hours later lying on the floor of his apartment. Trying to figure out how he ended up on the floor...oh yeah...Nakamaru that’s how. Groaning he sits up and runs his fingers through his hair, trying to calm down and that’s when he notices that his pendant his missing.



“ Damn! Now what am I going to do?” He says to himself as he slowly stands up and makes his way back too Koki’s place.


He dreads telling Koki what happened and that Maru now has possession of the red pendant, he knows Koki loves him and won’t leave him but a small part of him still fears his lover’s reaction all the same. After an hour of walking slowly as his head was still kinda spinning from whatever it was that he was hit with, he reaches the gates to the garden and when he reaches out to lift the latch...he feels a sharp pain in his right shoulder. He manages to get the gate open and makes his way back to his and Koki’s room, he walks in and sees only the note that Koki left him saying that he’s going to be in a war council meeting all morning  and that he will see Kame later tonight.


He makes his way to the bathroom, removes his shirt and sees a small wound on his shoulder...


“ Looks like I cut myself on something as I was passing out.”  He thinks as he cleans the wound and places a bandage over it so it will heal. Still feeling light headed he lays down in their bed and takes a nap while waiting for Koki to get done so he can get this over with.



He wakes up a few hours later to the feel of cold fingers lightly brushing the hair from his forehead. Smiling at the familiar sensation he rolls over and opens his eyes to find Koki looking at him in a way he’s never done before...then he notices Koki looking at the bandage on his injured shoulder and realizes that he’s just worried about Kame. Considering the last time Koki had this same look on face was when he was unconscious after Maki slammed his head into a marble pillar.



“ Hey, Koki.”  Kame says with a smile.


“ Hey beautiful.” Koki replies and kisses Kame on the lips. “ I brought you something to eat..its just leftovers from your dinner last night but..”

“ Its fine Koki. Food is food after all and besides I would never expect you to risk your life just to get me something to eat while the sun is still out.” He sits up, stretches while being careful not to open the wound on his shoulder and digs into his lunch.


“ So what did Maru want?”  Koki asks after Kame finished eating.


“ Um..about that. He wanted to talk about you and my pendant. He gave me an ultimatum.”


“ Which was?”


“ Give up my pendant and you and he might allow me and the rest of our friends to live. Naturally, I said no. I also found out that he was the one behind those two drunks attacking me that night. He hired them to get my necklace and he knew I was talking to you that same night. So, I told him that he couldn’t have neither you nor the pendant, and that I would rather risk a war than give you over to him. So when I turned to leave, I was grabbed out of nowhere and I didn’t have time to defend myself as everything around me went black. I woke two hours later to find my pendant gone and not knowing what else to do, I made my way back here.”



“ This is why I said that going too meet him alone was a bad idea, love, but he’s your friend and I can understand why you did what you did though. If it was Ueda in Maru’s position then I wouldn’ve done the same thing.” Koki replies.



“ He also tried to say that the only reason why you’re with me was because of that damned pendant and that you would leave me as soon you found out that I didn’t have it anymore.” He says as a shadow of fear passes through his eyes.


Upon hearing Maru’s latest lie he immediately appears in front of Kame and wraps his arms around him and whispers... “ That’s not true Kame. I can’t survive without you, the fact that you are the other pendant bearer never mattered to me. Please tell me you don’t believe him, he’s only trying to drive us apart.”  He doesn’t bother trying to hide the quiet desperation in his voice. Pulling back a little Kame says...



“ I know that, my dark prince, but I was still afraid to tell you all the same...call it one of the pitfalls of being human I guess. I believe you and I can’t live without you either.” He takes Koki’s head in his hands and plants a passionate, yet tender kiss on the cold lips of his immortal lover.


“ So...now what do we do, Koki? I know we have to tell Jun and THAT idea scares me far more than telling you did. You know his emotions better than I d...” All of a sudden Kame’s head feels heavy as he sways and nearly falls over.



“ Whoa! Kame! Are you alright? My god..you’re temperature is sky rocketing and you’re starting to sweat like a stuck pig.” Koki says as he picks his lover up and places him in bed, he removes the younger guy’s clothes and sees that the wound on Kame’s shoulder is bleeding even heavier and has some green liquid oozing from it.



“ Koki...go and tell Jun...there’s not..muc...” Kame says before he passes out.



After getting Ueda to watch Kame for him he does just that.


“ But Koki..what’s?”  


“ I don’t know Tat-chan, he was fine while we were talking and all of a sudden he just...”  he motioned to Kame’s state. “ Just watch him for me, please?” Koki asks trying to stay calm.


“ Sure.”  


Jun was about to have a little fun with Nino when Koki bursts into his office...


“ Koki what the hell?”  Nino shouts.



“ I don’t have much time and we have two problems, Jun.”  Koki says.


“ Okay calm down and start from the beginning.”  Jun says noticing how agitated Koki was.


Trying his best to talk in a calm manner Koki tells Jun everything. Starting with the fight him and Kame had 'had' before Kame left to go and see Maru and ending with Kame’s current state.

“ So Maru now has the other pendant and the Kazuya is unconscious huh?” Jun asked.


“ Yeah. He planned on telling you himself despite his fear of your reaction but then he..” Koki couldn’t finish.


“ Its okay Koki, we’ll get the pendant back somehow and tell Kazuya that he doesn’t have to fear me, I wouldn’t have done him any harm..mistakes happen. Now go back and sit with him.” Koki just nods and makes his way back to his partner.



“ Ueda...How is he?”  Koki asks as he removes his jacket


“ I don’t know..he kept saying your name over and over. At one point he started thrashing around like he was in pain or like he was desperately searching for something that he couldn’t find.” Ueda replies.


“ So where did the nail marks come from then.” Koki asked, getting angry at the site of the small cuts on Kame’s arms.


“ Um...from me.” Junno says in a small voice by the window.


“ How dare you...”  Koki went over grabbed Junno by the collar of his shirt.


“ Koki stop! He didn’t mean to leave those marks on him, we had to hold him down so he wouldn’t hurt himself. Junno feels bad enough as it is, Kame’s his friend too.” Ueda says gently and lays a hand on Koki’s shoulder.


“ Sorry Junno and thank you. I’m just...”  Junno cuts him off..


“ I know, sir, we all are.”


“ You can call me Koki.” Koki says as Junno just nods.


“ Koki...” Kame calls from the bed.

“ Yes, Kazu. What is it?” Koki asks, brushing Kame’s sweat drenched bangs from Kame’s forehead.


“ The silver box...there’s..I need...hurry...” Kame gasps out as the poison clenches around his heart.


Koki nods and pulls Kame’s kit out from under their bed and places next his lover’s hand. Immediately Kame starts blindly rummaging around search for the only cure that will help him, finding the vile and the needle he turns to Koki and says....



“ Quickly, Koki, fill this needle with the liquid from this vile and inject straight into my shoulder. Whatever you do..do not be gentle about it.”  he finishes as Ueda hands Koki the syringe.


“ It won’t hurt for long, I promise.” Koki says as he removes the bandage on Kame’s shoulder. He shoves the needle roughly into the now crusted over muscle and injects the fluid as Kame arches from the bed in pain.


“ Its okay Koki. I should be fine in a little while, thank you.” Kame says Koki removes the needle and throws it away.


“ You don’t need to thank me for saving you, love.” Koki says and plants a chaste kiss on Kame’s lips. “ Sleep now.” he finishes as crawls in next to Kame.



Three hours later Koki wakes to a sudden movement beside him. Opening his eyes he sees Kame propped up on one elbow smiling at him.


“ Am I dreaming?”  Koki asks still half asleep.



“ No, baby, you’re not dreaming. I’m alive and I feel as good as new.” Kame says and jumps on Koki’s stomach, only sit on his hips.


“ I was so worried...what happened too you?” Koki asked as he pulled Kame down so he wrap his arms around him.

“ Apparently whatever cut me was tipped in poison. Usually it has no affect on humans, but this time it was different because you feed off of me from time to time and your saliva is pushed into my blood every time your teeth puncture my neck. Its not your fault and I would rather not have those teeth kept away from my neck.” Kame says and moves his neck in such a way that he knows it causes Koki to start salivating.



“ I’m just glad you’re alive, honey. Now would you kindly stop teasing me like that or I won’t be able to control myself much longer.” Koki warns as he feels himself tense up.



“ Hmm...who said I wanted you to control yourself.” He smirks as he leans in and kisses Koki roughly.



Moaning Koki responds by biting Kame’s lower lip as his hands slide under Kame’s shirt and run up and down Kame’s abdomen and chest pulling him closer. Its not long before they’re both naked and pulling on each other’s bodies. “ Hurry Kame.” Koki pants into Kame’s ear, not wasting anymore time Kame climbs on top of koki and starts moving up and down setting the pace for both of them.


“ Harder...Koki...”  Kame presses out as Koki’s hips snap up to meet Kame’s efforts.


“ Oh...Kazuya...so good..”


“ Un..Koki...you feel so good baby.”  Kame moans as Koki rolls them so now that Koki’s on top.


Moaning Kame pulls Koki in for another searing kiss as he feels his climax near..


“ Koki...I’m gonna...d-don’t ask this t-time, just do it.” he presses out as he feels the gentle prick of Koki’s teeth sink into his flesh, at the same time as Koki starts pumping Kame’s cock in time with his thrusts.



Feeling Kame’s seed shoot over his hand and their stomachs Koki removes his teeth at the same time as Kame’s muscles clench around his member and has Koki releasing himself inside his lover’s body a minute later. After licking Kame’s neck clean he pulls out gently and lays down next to him, allowing Kame to roll on his side and lick his own cum from Koki’s stomach. When Kame was done, he lets Koki do the same to him. Koki and Kame were about to fall asleep when there was a knock on their door, groaning Koki calls for their intruder to come in....



“ Sorry for the interruption but Jun wants to know if Kame’s going to be okay.”  Ueda says.



“ Tell the Count I will be fine.” Kame says as Ueda nods and leaves the couple in peace.



“ Are you sure, Kame?” Koki asked when Ueda left.


“ Yes, I’m sure.Um..you don’t feel strange in anyway shape or form do you?” Kame asks out of the blue.


“ How so?”


“ Well, like your mind is going blank or like there’s someone else inside your head?”


“ Nope.”


“ Good then Maru hasn’t figured out how the mind control ability works yet.” Kame says as relieve washes over him.




Later that night Jun get the war declaration from Maru that he knew was coming his way, and he immediately calls an emergency meeting calling only the ones that will be fighting. Leaving the younger ones, like Junno, out of the fight. Kame and Koki head to the conference hall only to be blocked by Maki....



“ Maki...we’re late. Would you mind moving?” Kame says.


“ Hm...sorry human. Koki can enter but YOU can’t, not anymore.” She smirks in Kame’s direction.

“ Why?” Kame asks angrily.


“ Since he’s no longer the bearer of the red pendant and shown everyone here what a waste such power was on him, he lost his right to be in on these meetings.” Maki replies.



“ On whose orders?!” Koki shouts as his anger rises.


“ Mine.”  Nino steps out of the shadow of a nearby pillar. “ I gave the order and no, Jun doesn’t know about it. Since he’s no longer important to the war he so kindly thrusted upon us, I saw no reason as to continue to allow him the freedom he’s had so far. So..to that end...” he snaps his fingers as two vampyres from Jun’s personal guard come from nowhere. One grabs Koki, while the other grabs Kame and drags Kame away to the dungeon.



“ KOKI!!” Kame yells as he’s dragged around the corner and out of site.



“ KAZUYA!!” Koki shouts as Nino and Maki laugh. Turning back to the other two. “ You’re lucky I can’t kill you, Nino, or you would’ve been dead ages ago! But Maki’s different..her I can kill. Now let me go!”  


“ I don’t think so Koki...its for the best. Now come on, the three of us have a meeting to attend too.” Maki purrs as Koki is shoved through the door. Once inside the conference hall he’s forced into his seat.



“ Where’s kazuya?”  Jun asked.


“ Ask them!” Koki points at Nino and Maki.


“ Nino? Maki?” Jun turns his attention to the other two.


“ I have no idea.” Nino says.

“Why would I keep track of the human who stole my future husband from me?” She sniffs.

“ Koki, What’s going on?” Ueda asks.


“ These two had him locked up down in the dungeon, saying he’s not allowed to know what’s going with the war and since he’s lost his pendant, he’s not allowed the freedoms he’s had since he’s been here. All this was done on Nino’s orders and that you, Jun, had nothing to do with it.”


“Nino’s right..I didn’t know anything about this, Koki.” Turning to Maki and Nino he says.. “ How dare you over step your bounds and make such a decision. I’m the leader and I will make the decisions around here. Despite Kazuya not having the pendant doesn’t mean he’s not the true bearer. If anything we need him now more than ever...him and Koki are the only ones that understand how these things work. Kazuya is the only one that has capability of using Koki’s pendant to get his back and finish what they set out to do.” Jun finishes as he throws both Nino and Maki against the far wall.


“Here’s the key...go and let Kazuya out and bring him up here, Koki. He’s still under my protection with or without his pendant.” Jun says as his breathing evens out.


Taking the key Koki immediately goes to get Kame from that wretched place in the basement of the compound...


“ Koki!! You came!”  A relieved Kame says as his boyfriend opens his cell door.


“ Yes, love, Jun gave me the key after he found out what Maki and Nino did. Jun knew nothing about it and was livid when he found out. He told them point blank that despite you not having the red pendant, you’re still under his protection. Now let’s go we have a meeting to get back too.”  Koki answers as they make their way back upstairs.




Back upstairs....



“ Are you okay, Kazuya?” Jun asked as soon as Koki and Kame walk through the door.


“ Yes, I’m fine and thank you for letting me out that wretched place.” Kame answers back as a shiver goes down his spine.


“ Good. Now I’ve already filled the others in on what their roles are going to be. Now, I assume you two are going to want to deal with your friend?” He double checks with Kame and Koki.



“ Yes, we’ll deal with Maru. Kame’s the only one that can manipulate my pendant to do his bidding.” Koki responds.


“ Now that that’s all cleared up...everyone be prepared for tomorrow night, we go to war.” Jun dismisses everyone.


Back in their bedroom and Kame, knowing that his time with Koki has now come to a close...Kame says...



“ Make love to me, Koki. Remember, should I not survive this...I will always be around you. To hear me all you need to do is to listen to the whispers in the darkness that surrounds you and that’s where you’ll find me.”



As answer Koki just pushes his human lover on their bed and does as Kame requests of him, repeatedly as if he’s trying to imprint of them in each other’s memory for all eternity.
