Kame and Koki were walking back from Kame’s business dinner. They had a great time laughing and joking with everyone, especially Koki. Well, until Kame started getting jealous again and that’s when Koki slid his hand under the table to link with Kame’s, giving him a reassuring squeeze that told his human lover to whom Koki truly belonged too. The end result was that Kame’s jealousy lessened and it caused him to smile into his drink, only to choke later when Shin kicked him under the table for not lying about Koki and his looks.

“ Did you have fun, Koki?” Kame asked hopefully.

“Yeah, thanks for bringing me. I forgot how much fun other humans could be.” he placed a light kiss on Kame’s temple. “ But why did Shin kick you? I wanted to kill him for that.”

“ He kicked me for not lying about you and your looks. That picture I showed him of you shirt less only added to his annoyance with me. His partner wasn’t all that thrilled either, so now he thinks Shin’s going to leave him for someone better looking. Though it did shut him up and I’m glad because I was about ready to deck him.” Kame said as they continued their walk so Koki could go hunting, not bothering to notice the black Nissan that was following them...or so Jin and Ryo hope anyway.

“ Hey Jin? That guy walking with Kame, isn’t he the same one from that picture you showed Maru?”

“ Yeah he is, but I don’t have the heart to give them away.” Jin said, as Yamapi’s smiling face swam across his vision and seeing how happy Kame was.

“ How come?”

“ Yamapi” Jin said simply as Ryo laid his hand on Jin’s arm, remembering how happy Pin was, even though Pi was the same as Koki, and when Maru found out he was beyond reason and in his fury he forced Jin to kill his own nocturnal lover. Pi was never angry with Jin for what he did, Jin’s actions were being controlled at the time and Maru threatened to do it himself but he would make Pi suffer first and Jin didn’t want that so he did it instead.

“ Well, we should at least warn them that Maru’s on the war path and that he’s hunting for them.”

“ Okay, let’s go.”

Thankfully Koki and Kame had stopped by a dark alleyway so Koki could feed, which gave Ryo and Jin time to catch up with them.

“ KAME!!” They both say at once. Whipping around from the scene of Koki feeding, he turns and sees his friends running towards his location. He turns around and blocks Koki from their line of sight.

“ Hey guys. What brings you here?”

“ Maru. He told us to come follow you and find out what you’re up too and who you’re protecting.” Jin said.

“ I told you, that I....” Kame starts but Ryo cuts him off...

“ You can stop the lies Kame, we already know. We have seen the two of you walking, so you can tell him that he can come out now...if he’s done eating that is.”

“ You might as well come out, Koki, Maru’s had us tailed it seems.” Kame says, his anger evident in his tone. Koki steps out from the shadows, to stand slightly behind his lover’s right shoulder.

“ It would seem so, Maru’s crafty one...I’ll him give that.” Koki remarks lightly.

“ So the blue pendant’s been right under our noses this whole time.” Jin said with a smile.

“ So are you guys going to rat us out to that power hungry idiot, Nakamaru?” Kame asked as his hand automatically sought for Koki’s, who happily obliged, he knew Kame was more worried now than before Jin and Ryo found out.

“ Ryo was about to answer when his phone rings...it was Maru wanting an update on their progress.

“ Yes Maru, what is it?” Ryo asked lightly.

“ Did you find them?”

Turning to look into Kame’s pleading eyes he says....

“ No. Yuichi We haven’t. Kame’s smarter than you’re giving him credit for, he’s not going to be as easy as to catch as you might think. Well Jin’s being whiney so I have to go now,bye.” Ryo lied as he hung up.

“ No, we’re not going to give the two of you away.”

“ Thanks guys.” Kame smiled

“ Not that we’re not grateful for this, but why?” Koki asked. He knows they’re telling the truth but he couldn’t help but to be over protective of Kazu anyway.

“ Let’s just say I know how you two feel.....”

" Huh? How do you..?" Kame starts but Koki cuts across him.

" I'll tell you later Kame." he says while Jin smiles gratefully at Koki.

“ Shit!”

“ What’s the matter, Ryo?”

“ One of Maru’s scouts is headed this!” Ryo said alarmed.

Turning to Koki, Kame says...

“ Go now Koki, we’ll be along when he’s done.”

“ Alright” with that Koki was gone and just in time too, as the new comer stops to chat.

“ Hey guys. I just stopped by to warn you that ever since Kame left the society, Maru doubled his patrols.” The man says and walks away never looking back.

“ THANKS!!” The three shout and wave the guy off, they start walking down the street again so as not arouse suspicion.

“ Man, that was close. How did you do that?” Jin asked Kame.

“ Do what?” Kame was slightly confused.

“ Get a vampyre like Koki to listen to you.” Jin said.

“ Your pendant, right?” Ryo smirked.

“ Uh...no. I just ask him and he does it. Why would I do such a thing? I’m not Maru.” Kame said, slightly annoyed.

“ Thank goodness for that too.” Koki said as he reappeared out the blue..making both Jin and Ryo jump about a foot in the air, while Kame just laughed as he wrapped his arm around Koki’s waist.

“ I love him too much to control him and vampyres like their free will as much as us humans do.” he shrugs.

“Me and Maru....” Koki pulls a face “ What dreadful thought, besides...I prefer Kame.” Koki laughed, even though he was dead serious.

“ So, do you know what Yuichi’s next move will be?” Kame asked.

“ No, unfortunately, but I would wager it has something to do with those missing pages you mentioned a fortnight ago. Which there’s no need to go looking for as he’s had them this whole and whatever’s in them is all the stuff he’s been keeping from you and everybody else.” Jin said.

“ Well, we better get going guys. We’ll keep you updated on Yuichi’s movements and what he’s doing.” Ryo assured the couple as him and Jin walked back to their car. Koki takes Kame back to his place instead of Kame’s apartment.

“ Want to go back to my place tonight, Kazu? It will be safer for the time being.” Koki offered

“ I would like that. Any friends of yours I need to watch out for?”

“ Just one and he’s not my friend. Just an annoying fly that we wish we could get rid of it, but the Count would have our heads and his attention would be back on me...again.”

“ Who’s that?”

“ His name’s Nino, you remember, Ueda mentioned him that night we rescued you from that eastern vampyre.”

“ Oh yeah, the one that took an interest in Junno.” Kame says, his recollection catching up with him.

“ Yeah that’s him, I should warn you though...Nino likes to feed on the innocent and hunters. While you can take care of yourself, um, I would feel better if Ueda watched over you if I have to do anything for the Count. Since you do carry the other pendant I fear what may happen should anyone other than those I am closest too find out.” Koki said slightly unsure as he didn’t want to insult Kame.

“ For you, my dark angel, its fine by me.” Kame assured his lover as they made their way to Koki’s compound.

Fortunately, no one was around when they got their since they were all still out hunting. Koki lead Kame to his rooms. Walking through a huge set of mahagony doors with gold trim, Kame almost falls over from the sheer expanse of Koki’s library..

“ Wow! Koki. Are all these yours?” Kame asked in awe of all the various books and scrolls Koki has as he pulls a book from the shelf and starts thumbing through it.

“ Yep. My father left them to me. But These can wait, I have something else in mind for tonight.” Koki whispers as he walks up takes the book Kame was looking at and puts back on the shelf...leading Kame into his bedroom. After Koki locks the door, Kame turns and says...

“You do, do you?” His voice was teasing and full of want and desire for the creature that now stands in front of him.

“ Yes, I do.” Koki says as he kisses Kame lips and neck gently touching his fangs to his neck. Causing Kame to moan. Lifting Koki’s head, he slips his tongue into Koki’s mouth and starts slowly undoing the buttons on his shirt and slips the shirt from Koki’s shoulders and after Koki sheds Kame’s, he gently lays Kame on the bed and shows him exactly what he had in mind for the end of their evening.
