Kame was walking through the compound’s garden musing over how well the new client enjoyed his mobile cm, when he was caught off guard by Koki who had a surprise for him.




“ Koki!! You scared me half to death!”  Kame says as he smacks Koki on the arm.




“ Sorry, baby, I couldn’t resist. Besides, better me than Nino or Maki.”  He responds laughing as he hugs Kame from behind and gently biting his ear lobe.




“ That’s true. So tell me, my dark angel, why did you think it was grand idea to give me a coronary?” 



“ Because I want to take you out tonight and I got a surprise for you later. That and I missed you terribly while you were at work, so when I saw you walk through the gates to the garden...I couldn’t wait for you to come inside.”  






“ Sounds fun but first I got that meeting with your leader, remember? And I am kinda nervous about it.”





“ Why?”




“ Because of your reaction when he came by our room last night. Your hold on me was tight to where it almost seemed like you were afraid but protective at the same time. What happened between you two?” 




“ After my father died he tried to use your pendant against me at the time. This was before I lost it, and he tried to take advantage of me...”




“ How?” 




“ Remember those two drunks?”



“ Yeah...wait you mean he....”



“ Yep. But I managed to take the red one from him and he’s never tried it since, he understands that he doesn’t need that kind of power. I got over protective because the last human I was with, no we never got as far as you and I did while we were together, he took a liking too and took them from me. I won’t lie and say that I’m not afraid he won’t do it again.”



“ So why did you say that I would meet with him?”




“ Because he understands how I feel about you. He feels the same when it comes to that idiot Nino, he wants me to be happy since I never was until I found you and he doesn’t want to ruin it for me.”




“ Oh Koki...” Was all Kame could say as he gave Koki reassuring kiss to show him that he’s not going anywhere. “ Well, shall we go then..since I’m not sure where his office is exactly and I don’t want to end up lost.” 




“ Alright”  Koki said as he showed Kame where Jun’s office was.




Despite Kame’s reassurance Koki grabbed his hand anyway as his knuckle rapped on the oak door.



“ Come!”  Jun called from the other side of the door.




“ You wanted to see me?”  Kame asked.




“ Yeah I wanted to see if you would sit in on our meetings about what to do about this war from now on. Of course you still have your work and I won’t keep you from that as much as I can help. But with your knowledge of ancient writings and since you are the other pendant bearer, I think its only fair that you know what’s going on from our side as well as your own. I asked Koki but he told me to ask you.”




“ Uh...sure.”




“ Good. There is one more thing I want to talk to you about privately. So would you mind waiting for Kazuya outside, Koki, it won’t take long and he’s more than free to tell you everything that is said.”





“ Its okay, Koki, I will be fine.”  Kame smiled trying to put Koki’s fear at ease.




“ If you sure.” He lets go of Kame and goes to walk out the door when the Count says...




“ Don’t fear, Koki, he will be returned to you as you leave him. I won’t take him from you.”



Koki just nods and walks out into the hall as Kame sits down in the proffered chair.




“ I wanted to talk to you about Koki and his relationship..or lack thereof, with Maki. While I’m glad that he’s happy and I know you two love each other deeply, its just that he can never fully be yours, Kazuya.”



“ What do you mean? What’s going to stop him?”




“ This.” He pulls a rolled up scroll out from his desk and hands it to Kame.




“ A marriage contract....to Maki? Why didn’t he tell me?” Kame asked fuming, he was pissed, not so much at Koki but at Maki for trapping him like that.




“ I imagine he’s forgotten about its existence that’s why. It was drawn up while they were still together and Maki gave it to me to hold onto after she turned. As long as this contract exists, he will have to marry her at some point..either before you die or after. I’m sorry Kazuya, I don’t tell you this to split the two of you up...Koki would never forgive me, I tell you this so you know what will eventually come to pass.”  Jun said as he gave Kame a sympathetic smile.





“ So how do we break it? I just found him, I am not giving him up...especially to someone who has already hurt him.” Kame replies, slamming his fist on the Count’s desk.



“ Burn all three copies, Maki dies or...”



“ Or what?” Kame asks in desperation.



“ Or he has to drink your blood while you two are having relations. Its the only three deal breakers that was agreed on by both sides. If Koki drinks from you during that time its seen as cheating by our rules and then he becomes a free man. Or if you can get her to agree to setting Koki free but I doubt very much if that will happen.”




“ Is there anything else? Where is Maki now?”  Kame asked.




“ We’re done and I believe she should be in the garden. What are you going to do?”



“ I’m going to set Koki free from that wench.”  Kame says as he walks towards the door, stopping only long enough to thank Jun for letting him stay.




“ Kame, what did he...”  was all Koki said has Kame shoved the contract in Koki’s hands as he made his way to the garden.




“ What’s that Koki?”  Ueda asked as Koki opened up what Kame gave him.




“ Damn! I forgot about this! The Count talk to him about my marriage contract to that whore! Now I think he just...” 




“ Shit! We better get over there and fast.”  Ueda said as they took off for the garden and Kame.




Kame is so pissed that he doesn’t hear two voices calling his name, trying to get his attention. He storms out into the garden to confront Maki....



“MAKI!! I know you’re here...dammit! Now come out!” He screams.



“ My, my...so loud for such insignificant insect. What do you want? I’m busy.”  She sniffed in Kame’s direction as Koki and Ueda come to a halt at the entrance. Koki goes to help but Ueda stops him.



“ Ueda?”




“ He’s doing what he feels he has to do to free you. Just let him go.” Koki just nods and watches anxiously as the love his life is about to be tossed around like a rag doll.




“ Let Koki go! I saw the bloody contract...how dare you keep him trapped like that. He’s never...” He’s cut off as Maki slaps him.




“ Why you insolent little....”  She grabs Kame and slams him against a nearby pillar making his spin. “ He’s never gonna be free as long as I’m alive! He belongs only to me and nobody else...not even you. You’re lucky I can’t kill you...or the Count would have my head. What’s so special about you, that a human like you has the protection of the Count?”  She asks as she lets Kame fall to the ground in a heap.





“ If he didn’t bother to tell you, then I’m not either. Don’t even think of going to Koki or anyone else since they won’t tell you either. He’s never going to be happy with you, he never was..so just let him be. Release him already, if you won’t then you never really loved him.”




“ HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY FEELINGS FOR KOKI?!” Maki screams, enraged she kicks Kame in the abdomen. She goes to kick him again but Kame stops her foot with his hand...




“ Please...let him go..I...” he starts crying. “ I love him and I just want him to be free from his bonds” he begs.





“ Sorry human. He stays under contract.”  she says as she walks away..




“ I will break your hold over him...one way or another...” Kame says as he passes out from the pain of being kicked so hard, well...that and his head was still spinning from being slammed against a marble pillar.





“ KAZUYA!!”  Koki and Ueda yell as Maki leaves, they run over to check on him but they don’t get a response..





“ Come on, help me get him into bed.” He says to Ueda.



Ueda holds the doors open as Koki lifts his human lover’s unconscious form and carries him back inside to lay him down in their bed...



“ Thanks Ueda. Will you go and tell the Count what happened and see if there is anything that can be done to punish her for this?”  Koki asks as a single tear slides down his cheek.



“ Yeah, you just stay here.” Ueda says and leaves.





Four hours go by and Kame still hasn’t woken up.



“ Kame...come on baby, wake up...please.”  Koki says as he lays down next to him and intertwines their fingers as Ueda and Sho come by to check on their sick friend.




“ Has he moved at all since we brought him back inside?” Ueda asked.




“ No and I’m starting to get worried. You guys don’t think that, despite Jun’s orders, she...” he couldn’t bring himself to finish as he tried to hold back his tears.




“ I don’t think she’s that dumb,Koki.” Ueda said just as Koki’s bedroom door opened and the last person Koki wants to deal with right now, walks in...




“ Nino...get out. I’m not in the mood right now.”  Koki says in whisper, its quiet and pathetic but he just can’t help it.




“ Well, well...do my eyes deceive me or is Mr-I-am-better-than-everybody else- actually crying?” He asks mocking Koki.




“ NINO!!” Ueda shouts



“ What do you want Nino? I would advise you to make it quick” Sho warned.



“ I just came by to tell Koki that Maki will be punished. But really now Koki...crying over a human? Man, has he turned into a pathetic shell of your forme....” he’s cut off by Koki’s hand clenched around his throat as Koki drags him to the door and throws out him of his room.




“ Well at least that tramp will be punished for this. Let me know when he wakes up, koki, I have to check on something.”  Sho says as he walks out the door.




“ Are you going to be okay, Koki?” Ueda asked



“ As long as he’s breathing I will be. Can you leave us alone, please?”



“ No problem. Just make sure to tell me when wakes” Ueda said as he heads out of the window.




Koki lightly brushes the hair from Kame’s face as he puts a cool rag on his forehead, he’s never dealt with this before and he’s torn between his anger at Maki and his worry for Kame’s condition.




“ How’s he doing?”  Jun asks from the doorway that Sho forgot to close on his way out. “ If I thought that he...”   Koki cuts him off.





“ Why did you show this to him?! I thought that....”  Koki yells but Jun raises his hand to silence him.



“ Because he needed to know what may come to pass despite what you feel for him. I do care about your’s and everyone else’s happiness. I gave up on you long ago, Koki, I do not wish to interfere but he did have the right to know and since you forgot about that contract’s existence....look someone had to tell him and since I wanted to leave his thoughts to himself I didn’t read his mind, so like I said..if I knew what he was going to do I would’ve called you back into my office to stop him. I don’t like what she’s done either but you know the position I’m in until her hold over you is nullified.”  Jun explained as Kame moans from the bed and falls silent still not waking up.




“ Kame...I” Koki says as he looks down at his unconscious boyfriend as Jun takes his leave of the couple. “ I am sorry...its my fault you’re like this. If I had just remembered and told you before...then...” He sinks onto the bed with his head in his hands, he doesn’t see a pair of long eyelashes flutter as Kame slowly starts coming around.




“K..Ko..Koki?”  Kame says through parched lips, his throat is dry from being out for so long.




“ Kame....? You’re awake!! I am so glad...I thought that she...” he’s cut off when a hand slips into his.




“ Koki, I will free you from her. She’s never going to get her claws back into you. You’re mine and that’s how its going to stay. Now help me to sit up already.”  Kame says as Koki does as he’s told.



“ How does your head feel?”  Koki asks. “ I mean as hard as your head bounced off the pillar it should’ve...”






“ Should’ve killed me?”




“ Yeah.”





“ It hurts like hell but as I was passing out, I heard my mother’s voice telling me stay and that you’re not the only who needs me. While I was out she told me what will happen should someone other than me and you use these pendants. She mentioned something about Maru but I can’t remember the rest its all black and fuzzy now.”  He says as he touches the bandage that’s wrapped around his head.




“ Don’t worry about that now. What’s important is that I have you back with me. Maki’s going to be punished for what she did, Jun already told her that she’s not to kill you or to lay a finger on you. But as she almost did the former and did the latter...she’s not going to come out of this unscathed. Her punishment will be held publicly as is custom but it will be put off until Ueda and I get back, we have to leave tomorrow. I know you just woke up but I want you to come with us, there’s no telling what she may do next.” 




“ Sure, I’ll come.” Kame said with a weak smile. “ Now, I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten since this morning.”  Kame whined slightly. Koki just smiled and went to get him something to eat from a nearby restaurant.




“ Hey Kame. Koki told us that you woke up. He went to get you some food.”  Sho said, sitting in the chair next to Kame’s and Koki’s bed.





“ You gave us quite the fright. We all thought Maki had killed you.”  Ueda said sitting down on the edge of the bed seeing as Sho took the only chair in the room.




“ I thought so too.”  Kame smiled.




“Do you feel up to having another visitor? He’s been wanting to say hi to for sometime now, but Koki still scares him and he didn’t want to make him angry.” Ueda asked.




“Yeah sure.”  Kame said, after taking the aspirin that he always keeps in the drawer beside Koki’s bed.




“ Its alright you can come in!”   Ueda calls and Junno walks in. “ Kame...Junno, Junno...Kame.” Ueda says.





“ Hi, Junno was it?”




“ Hi and yeah.”



“ You look like you want to ask something, what is it?”  kame says.




Junno just looks to Ueda who just nods.



“ Is it...I mean...is what Ueda and everyone are saying? Do you really have it?” 




“ Yes, its true.”




“ Can I..?”



“ You want to see to my pendant right?”  Kame gives Junno a gentle smile. While Junno just nods.



“  Sure but only for a second as I am not sure what, if anything, it will do to you. Here you go”  Kame says he pulls out the companion pendant to Koki’s out from under his shirt.




“ Wow.”  He says as his eyes do the exact same thing Maru’s did, noticing this Kame turns to Ueda.





“ Ueda. It’s good time to get Junno out of this room and as far away from this necklace as possible.”  Kame warns as he stuffs the necklace back inside his shirt.




“ You mean its...”



“ Yeah and I don’t want to see anything happen to him. He’s nice and you care for him so...”  Kame just shrugs.




“ Sure thing. Hey Junno...can you go get my things ready for my journey tomorrow?”




“ Sure thing. Bye Kame”



Kame just smiles as Junno bounds out the door and to his and Ueda’s room. With Junno gone the three of them can finish their conversation.





“ I don’t get it Kame. You said that affected Maru for whatever reason and I can understand why...since humans tend to be power hungry. But why does it have an effect on Junno?”  Sho asked confused.




“ Well, didn’t you say that Junno was still new to the blood?” Ueda just nods. “ That’s why. Unlike you and Ueda who has been around for quite some time and your hearts are content with the power you have, you guys have no reason to want more. Koki and I were destined to have these things and neither of us want power like this but I guess power is best suited to those who don’t really want it. Junno is still young in the blood and his heart is craving for him to become stronger and if he should get his hands on it then...”  Kame’s cut off as Koki walks in.




“ Then Junno’s power and strength would surpass that of Ueda’s. Here I brought you something.” Koki says as he hands Kame his food.





“ Thanks Koki...I’m starved.” Kame says as he digs into the food Koki brought him. He’s only about half way through when his cell rings, he rolls his eyes when he sees the name on the id display..




“ Its Maru” Kame groans.





“ Answer it but switches to speaker. Don’t worry, we’ll be quiet.” Koki says as Ueda and Sho lock the doors and windows so they can’t give away Kame’s location.



“ Yes Maru? I’m busy, what is it?”




“ Well. I was traveling around Europe on a lead.”  Ueda chuckles as he remembers his and Kame’s joke to get maru off his trail.



“ Did you find out anything?”



“ About the other pendant? No. who ever left me that note is toying with me. But I did learn something interesting about owner of the blue one.”



“ Really? What’s that?” Kame asks.




“ That he’s really brutal and he’s known for killing humans as soon they set their eyes upon him. So if you ever come across him...don’t hesitate to take his head.”  Maru warns Kame as Kame raises an eyebrow at Koki, who gets a massive case of the silent giggle fits.




“ I’ll be sure to keep that in mind. Where are you know?” Kame replies.



“ On the plane heading back to Tokyo, can we meet up in a few days?”



“ Sorry, Maru, but I’m heading out of town with some friends and I am not sure when I’ll be back.”  Kame says as he finishes his dinner and Koki decides it would be great time to suck on his neck.


“Oh..okay. Well, I’ll talk to you later then, bye Kame.”



“ Okay..bye.”  Kame says as it takes all his will power to suppress the moan that settled its self in his throat. Hanging up Kame turns to whack Koki on the head....



“ Were you trying to get me found out?” Kame asks, capturing Koki’s lips. While Sho and Ueda unlock the doors and windows.



“ Sorry, I couldn’t resist.”  Koki replies going back to his assault on Kame’s neck.




“ Well, We’ll be going now. See you tomorrow Kame.”  Ueda says and as him Sho leave.





“ How much do you love me, Koki?”  Kame asks.




“ More than my own life.” Koki answers as he nibbles Kame’s ear.




“ Well...I don’t know if I believe you....show me.” Kame challenges.



“ How.” Koki asks as he straddles Kame hips.



As answer Kame just tugs on his lover’s belt buckle while stripping Koki of his shirt with his other hand. Koki, getting the hint, smiles and strips Kame of his own clothes and shows Kame how much he loves him. Two hours later as Kame and Koki lay sweating and panting...Kame asks...




“ So what was this surprise you had in mind for me?”



“ Well..I was going to give you this while we had a midnight picnic but seeing as Maki did what she did..” Koki gently touches Kame’s bandage. “ I’ll give it you now.”



“ What is it?”



“ This...”  He hands Kame a pamphlet for summer home in the country. “ I figured that once this war was over with we could live there in the winter and here in Tokyo the rest of the year, think of it as our future home.”




“Its nice Koki, and I do love it, but what’s the good in planing a future together when it may never happen? You’re still under contract and Maki won’t willingly let you go.”  Kame said, his every word was dripping with sadness. “ As long as that’s in our way and with me being human...it’s probably never going to happen and even if it does..I’ll die at some point anyway.”




“ Kame...I’ve told you before that I don’t care how old you get..I will always love you, I thought you believed me.”




“ I did...I do...its just you have to see it from my side and knowing that we’ll have no choice but to say good by to each other, whether its through your forced union that whore or through my death. I just find it difficult to be able to think past tomorrow that’s all. I’m happy and proud to be by your side and I don’t want to give you up. But it seems like I’m going to have to one day despite my promise to you months ago.”  Kame finished as Koki wraps his arms around his mortal lover.




“ I guess I am just going to have to find away to break that contract.” he whispers into Kame’s hair.




“ You would do that for me, Koki?”  Kame asks.




“ For you, love, I would give my very life.” Koki replies.




“ Then drink from me. Make love to me and drink from me.” Kame says, sitting up in their bed.




“ Are you sure?”




“ Yes, its the only way for you to break free..other than Maki dying that is. I want you to be free and mine completely. So drink.” He answers crawling closer to Koki.




“ Okay...come here. But only when you get ready to climax, alright?”




“ That’s fine.”  Kame says as he kisses Koki deeply, moaning into the kiss when Koki rubbing his cock. Its not long before the sounds of sex fill the silent room and just as Kame reaches his climax, Koki gently sinks his teeth into Kame’s neck drinking the only blood that he vowed he would never take in, as at the same time he feels Kame tighten around his own erection and he’s coming few thrusts later, spilling his seed in side Kame once more as he gently pulls his teeth out from Kame’s neck..licking the wound clean. Pulling out of Kame he lays down next to him and pulls him closer.




“ I know you never wanted to drink from me but its the only way to break her hold over you. Besides, I would rather have your fangs puncture my neck and nobody else. I’m never going to be mad at you for this.”   Kame says as him and Koki drift into dream land.
