Summary:
Koki is a 22 year old human guy, living a normal but unsatisfied and restless life, gets pulled into Japan's feudal past by an otherworldly creature, where he crosses paths with a dog like half-demon named Inu-Kame. There he discovers his past and future and that not all legends are the work of the imagination. Can ancient history give Koki the answers he's looking for and settle his restless heart? Will price be too high to pay for such answers and will he be able to bare the cost? 
A/N: Later chapters Koki and only Koki, will start calling "Inu-Kame" just Kame, everyone else will still refer to him as 'Inu-Kame'.






As they’re walking, InuKame and company come across another village that was attacked like the last one was. Only...the wolves were still around, feeding off the corpses, when they get there. They’re all horrified at the scene.

“ This village also!”

“ They’re man eating woves!”

“ How horrible!”

Soon the wolves notice that they’re not alone and surround them, They all stand back to back with Shippo on Koki’s shoulder. The wolves start growling with a hungry look in their eyes.

“ We’re surrounded!” The monk says, stating the obvious.

“ Pah! They’re just mortal animals!” InuKame shouts as the wolves attack, Koki takes out the nearest two with the knife he carries. when InuKame shouts “ Claws of Steel!” taking out some to his right.

“ Boomerang Bone!” Sango sends her weapon flying cutting some into pieces in front of her.

“ They’re running away?!” Mirkou shouts as the wolves make a fast getaway.

They stop some distance away and start howling, calling for their leader.

“ They are calling for their pack!” The monk says.

“ InuKame! I sense a wishing shard coming this way...at an incredible speed too.” Koki says twirling his hunting knife in his hand.

Out of nowhere, a guy lands in front of them and the wolves that were left went slinking over to him. They tell him what happened and that InuKame and the others killed some of their pack members. The strange guy gets pissed and turns to face InuKame...

“ You...KILLED my children..” he growls, glaring at them.

‘ He...has wishing shards embedded in one arm and both his legs..’ Koki thinks as they watch his movements.

“ So you’re the leader of this pack of man-eaters,eh?” InuKame asks.

“ You did this! You murdered my darlings! I’ll never forgive you!” the leader shouts back.

“ Your pets made the ground run red with human blood!” Koki shouts.

“ How many have you killed?!” The half demon asks.

“ I was just letting them feed, you insolent puppy. Who are you to say they can’t?!” The leader retorts.

Koki’s grip on his knife tightens at the insult, InuKame’s surprised. Miroku and Sango are muttering amongst themselves.

“Are you stupid? Wolves and dogs come from the same bloodline.” Koki asks, his comment goes unnoticed.

“ I hate the smell of dog! It gives me heart burn.” the guy spits.

His blood boiling..InuKame pulls Tetsusaiga and says, “ Does it?! Then I’ll split your chest open and let the wind cool it off for you!” as he slashes at the leader, who just leaps out of the way.

“ Remember this! I am Koga, master of the wolf demon clan!” Koga shouts before landing and trying to crush InuKame with his feet.

“ Wolf demon clan? Do you know of them Sango?” Miroku asks.

“ I did hear of them once from a fellow exterminator. They’re demons who control wolves. They may take a human form, but their true nature is that of their beasts...wild and violent.” Sango says.

InuKame moves but Koga hits him with a round house kick to his face, sending InuKame flying about 60ft away.

“ His legs?!” Sango was surprised.

“ He’s not as strong as he looks,InuKame!” Koki shouts, “ Be careful! He’s got wishing shards in his right wrist and both calves!”

Koga turns to look at Koki, who says to Koga “ What the hell are you looking at me for...you flea bag wolf?!

“ Shards? Idiot! Why didn’t you tell me sooner?!” InuKame shouts at Koki.

“ And steal your opening thunder...how well do you know me?” Koki asks the half demon, not expecting an answer.

Turning his attention back to Koga, InuKame says “ Aren’t we full of ourselves? For a minute there, I thought you were actually a strong one. But if that’s the best you got, even with the shards...then you’re just all talk and pathetic!”

“ Grrr...Don’t yap at me! I’m the one that knock you down...you little puppy!” Koga retorts back at InuKame.

“ I don’t suppose there’s anything we can do to stop this?” Koki asks rolling his eyes.

“ Hmm, with this stubborn, impulsive pair?” Mirok replies.

“ Look who’s talking..” Shippo dead pans.

Pulling his sword, InuKame shouts “ C’mon, flea bag, let me shut that big mouth of yours for good!”, he charges Koga.

He swings but misses as Koga leaps out of the way, only to counter with another high kick. InuKame grabs his knee and throws Koga over his head...behind him. Koga rights himself and charges back towards InuKame.

“ Heh...is that all you can do...just hold me off?!” Koga asks tauntingly as he rushes the half demon.

“ Stand back, everybody!” InuKame shouts, his sword in front of him, he thinks ‘ This is perfect. I can use him as a practice dummy for Tetsusaiga! The path where the currents of demonic power collide...The Scar of the Wind! That’s it! I can smell it! If I slice perfectly along its path..I can draw out the true power of my blade!’

Sensing something was wrong Koga stops his attack and says, “ Retreat, my children! There’s something wrong about this!” as him and the wolves leave the others stunned.

“ He...ran away!” Sango says to Koki.

“ I guess he was more impulsive than stubborn. Either way, good riddance.” Koki answers with an annoyed snort.

“ InuKame you...were you trying to test the -Scar Of The Wind?-” Miroku asks.

“ Yeah, but the whelp wouldn’t cooperate. All hot hair.” InuKame answers.

“ I wonder about that...”

“ What do you mean,Miroku?” InuKame asks.

“ That Koga fellow, he couldn’t have known anything about Tetsusaiga’s powers. If he ran away because he instinctively sensed the danger...”

“ Then he’s no ordinary demon.” Sango interjects.

“ In Any case, we can’t let him hold on to three wishing shards, not since he’s the leader of a man-eating pack of wolves.” Miroku warns stating the obvious..again.

“ I know that! That bluffing coward...call me a puppy,will he?! I’ll follow the scent of those wolves...I swear I’ll track him down!” InuKame says affronted and starts sniffing the ground as they keep moving.

“ He’s no puppy huh?” Koki says sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

Being a safe distance away from InuKame and his sword, Koga is sitting with his wolves, trying to calm down.

“ Grrrr! My fur is still standing on end! The little cur..what was that strange blade..?” Koga says out loud to the wolves next to him, then Koki’s words about the shards comes back to his mind and he thinks ‘ And that human male...’. Before continuing “ Somehow...he can see the shards. Which means...Children! Go back and lure them here, I’m going to take that guy and make him work for me!”

InuKame and the others are following the wolves scent trail up the side of a cliff. Koki’s trying to to get the half demon to calm down a little.

“ That flea-bitten wolf! I’m gonna jump him and take those wishing shards away!” InuKame says to Koki and Shippo.

“ I know he hit a nerve, but don’t get too worked up Kame.” Koki says.

“ Who’s worked up?!” InuKame retorts.

Koki rolls his eyes and says, “ I wonder indeed. We both know he uses those shards to make up for whatever short comings he has. You’re not like that and...”

“ Hey. What brought this about?”

“ You know how Koki is. He just trying to make you feel better about being called an ‘insolent puppy’.” Shippo says rather unhelpfully.

InuKame’s annoyed now and Koki says, “ Shippo...don’t help.”

Miroku was riding with Sango on the back of Kirara.

“ There is..an unsettling feeling to this area.”

“ You think so too, sir monk?”

“ A demonic power hangs in the air..somehow different and more vile than that of the wolves.”

“ Meaning...a different sort of demon here abouts?”

Then all of a sudden, InuKame sees the wolves up ahead and gives chase.

“ InuKame...there’s more?!” Koki shouts as more come down from their right.

“ Why that....Hang on Koki!” InuKame shouts.

“ It was an ambush!” Sango shouts.

“ Why would I let go? We’re on a cliff side?!” Koki replies.

“ Exorcising Claws of Steel!” InuKame shouts cutting through them, Koki uses his knife on the ones that dodged InuKame’s attack.

More come down around Sango and Miroku, the monk says “ Its a wall of wolves!”

“ There’s no end to them!” Koki says, as a few land in front of him and the half demon, they bite down on InuKame’s body...Koki kills the on that attached itself to the half demon’s arm. They fall down the side of the mountain.

“ Are they going to go down with me?!” InuKame thinks as Koga comes running up behind them and snatches Koki and Shippo right off InuKame’s back.

“ Hey!” Koki shouts at Koga.

“ Heh! Thanks for the gift!” Koga shouts taking off with Koki and the young fox demon.

“ KOKI!” InuKame shouts.

“ Master Koki!” Sango shouts and with Kirara gives chase.

Miroki watches from above and thinks, “ So this is what Koga was planning...to kidnap Master Koki from the start!”

“ What in the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Koki asked pissed.

“ Will you stop shouting at me!” Koga replies.

“ You kidnaped me, I’ll shout as I please....flea bag!” Koki retorts.

“ Hurry Kirara!” Sango orders and then hears the flapping of wings behind her, she looks back as her and Kirara are over taken by a flock of Harpy demons.

“ Are those....Harpies?!” Koki asks.

“ Those stupid birds...they’ve come to try to get me! Oh...what an opportunity this gives me. Boy, take a good look!”

“ For what?” Koki asks annoyed.

“ Among those birds...Do any hold wishing shards?!” Koga asks as they keep running.

Koki looks but sees none, he answers “ No they don’t!”

“ Are you sure?!” he asks Koki.

“ Yes and if they did...why in the hell would I tell you?!” Koki retorts.

“ Then I’ve got no use for them! We’re going to rush them!” Koga shouts, tightening his grip on Koki and picks up speed. He looks back the birds and taunts, “ Hey! Nyah, Nyah to you all! Even if you ran on your hands you’d never catch up with my legs!”

Two more wolf demons sit sentry on a waterfall, they see Koga as he runs through the waterfall.

“ Its Koga!”

“ The Chief’s back!”

“ Oi! Its freezing...oh..” Koki says then thinks when he’s put down ‘ This...is their lair?’

“ We’re home.” Koga says.

“ You were all right, Koga?”

“ Ooo...He’s a tasty looking one..”

“ Let us have a bite too,huh?”

“ He isn’t lunch! If anyone eats this guy, I’ll kill him!” Koga threatens.

“ Well, at least I won’t die at the moment.” Koki thinks watching the exchange.

Koga then picks Shippo off of him, holding the little fox by the tail and says, “ Take a piece of this and be content with it! It’s conveniently delivered itself.”

“ K-Koki!” Shippo shouts.

“ Hey! Give him back!” Koki orders and takes Shippo from Koga,“ You want to use my powers,right?!” he asks Koga, protecting Shippo from the other wolves.

“ This will make a long story short.” Koga says with a grin, leading Koki and shippo to his animal pelt he lays on. Sitting down Koga tells his story, “ You remember the bird creatures that came after us?”

“ Yeah, they’re Harpies.” Koki says.

“ Well, they are our mortal enemies. Their king possesses shards of the Wishing Jewel, and thanks that many of my clans people have been devoured. I want to raid their lair and take their Wishing Shards. You’re going to tell me where in the King’s body those shards are located.” Koga says.

Not wanting to risk Shippo’s neck, Koki says “ Fine. I’ll do it.” while thinking ‘ If I can get outside, I may be able to find InuKame and get back to him.’

Meanwhile, InuKame and the other two regroup. InuKame lands at the bottom of the rock wall he was falling down. He sees Koki’s hunting knife, covered in wolf blood but Koki’s no where to be found. Miroku catches up to him.

“ Koki..!” InuKame thinks picking up the knife as Miroku slides down next to him.

“ InuKame, are you all right?” he asks.

“ Miroku...”

“ It appears that Koga’s true aim was to take Master Koki. If you doubt me, note all the wolves that were swarming us...have suddenly dispersed.” Miroku continues as they catch up with Sango and Kirara who was chewing on some feathers.

“ Sango? Where’s Master Koki?!” Miroku asks.

“ Oh..sorry. They escaped while I was dealing with these...” Sango says pointing to the Harpies at her feet.

“ What are they? Birds?” the monk asks.

Back at the wolf demon clans waterfall lair, Shippo shields Koki from the wolves Koga placed to make sure Koki doesn’t get away while he went hunting.

Koki watches the wolves with wary eye, thinking “ Until I find the Wishing shards those birds are supposed to have, these wolves won’t kill me. But after that...then what? When we go raid the Harpies’ Lair...I can use that as my chance to get away from this lot.’ just as Koga gets back with a dead beast.

“ We set out at sundown. You should eat your fill before then.” Koga says dropping the dead boar in front of Koki, Shippo scurried behind Koki’s shoulders.

“ Yeah...no thanks. I don’t eat raw pork.” Koki declines, Koga just stares at him, “ What?!” he asks getting tired of the stare.

“ Your name’s Koki,isn’t it? Now that I look at you...you’re quite good looking.” Koga says with a strange gleam in his eyes. Koki just glares at him.

“ Yeah what’s your....” Koki starts..

“ Instead of killing you after we get the shards....you’ll be my mate!” Koga says all most victoriously.

Koki was taken by surprised. Having sex with InuKame is one thing...being Koga’s mate is just pushing it too far in Koki’s opinion.

“ So that’s it. I trust you understand.” Koga says, wrapping his arm around Koki’s waist and pulling him flush against his body.

“Get off me!” Koki shouts and hits Koga with a right hook to his jaw. The others start muttering behind them. Koga was stunned and Koki continues, “ I’m seeing someone already.”

“ Don’t tell me its that insolent puppy?!” Koga asks.

“ His name is InuKame! Quit calling him an ‘insolent puppy’!” Koki growls.

“ How interesting...so,then, if this puppy InuKame were to be removed from this world. There’d be nothing standing between us?”

“ I wouldn’t bet on it.” Koki snorts.

“ Because you know, the next time we meet I’m going to kill him anyway.” Koga replies.

“ Says the one who took one whiff of InuKame’s blade and retreated with his tail between his legs.” Koki mutters to Shippo who nods.

“ Koki...Just hang on a while longer. The Toadstool spores that I secretly dropped along our path...should be starting to sprout any time now. Then InuKame will surely find us.” Shippo thinks.

InuKame, Miroku and Sango go searching for Koki and Koga. He’s going to get Koki back come hell or high water.

‘ Koki, where are you?!’ InuKame thinks as then says, “ Blast it!”.

Then Miroku sees something pop up out of the ground, he gets InuKame’s attention “ Eh?! InuKame...wait a moment!” The monk and Sango go investigate.

They’re watching the tiny mushrooms and Miroku asks, “ Isn’t this one of Shippo’s signals? Come to think of it...”

“ Shippo’s been missing too, hasn’t he?” Sango asks, then says “ They pop up one after another..leading that way..” she points to their west.

“ LET’S GO!” InuKame shouts and they follow Shippo’s mushrooms.

Meanwhile, Koga, Koki and the other wolf demons are just under the cliff where the Harpies lair is. They look up in time to see the harpies come after them.

“ The harpies have detected our presence. I’m counting on the rest of you to handle the lesser ones!” Koga orders, his hand still around Koki’s waist.

“ Stop touching me, flea bag. I can hang on myself.” Koki says, removing Koga’s hand from his body.

But before Koki could move an inch to sneak off, Koga grabs him and says “ Now Koki...We’re going in!” he charges towards the Harpies and kills all in front of them.

Ducking his head, Koki thinks “ Shit! I can’t get away now. Hurry Kame!”

Hearing the commotion below the Harpie Kings get excited and blood thirsty.

“ Heh heh heh...that young up start of the wolf demon clan has come to challenge us, little brother..” One laughs.

“ Indeed,big brother. Going out of his way to bring us his Wishing Shards...heh heh heh. Shall we go down and swallow him up?” They take off into the skies.

The lesser Harpie demons and the rest of the demon wolf clan battle each other. Turning the ground below into a blood bath. While Koga and Koki work their way up the mountain top.

“ Koki...its time to earn your keep! We’re almost at the King’s nest!!” Koga shouts.

Then Koki sees the gleam of a shard through the mountain side, he warns Koga “ I see a wishing shard! He’s right in front of us!”

Just as the king busts through the cliff wall, Koga leaps him and Koki out of the way just in time. Bursting out and heading down to the small out cropping Koki and Koga landed on, Koga shielding Koki from the Harpie King.

“ Heh heh heh...we’ve been waiting for you, son of the wolf demon clan..”

“ Waiting for me?”

“ Yes, my brother and I have been wanting your wishing shards...Those embedded in your body.

“ How kind that you come seeking us..”

“ Heh...It just means we’re all thinking the same thing..” Koga replies to the King and then asks Koki, “ Koki--Where is their Wishing Shard?”

Koki looks and says, “ Inside his mouth!”

“ What?!” Koga replies.

“ Heh heh heh....Very good.”

“ If you truly want our shard of the jewel...”

“ Come on inside...”

“ There’s plenty of room!!”

The harpie demon bird opens its mouth and attacks Koga and Koki. Koga grabs Koki and speeds down the mountain side as the bird bites into it, sending bits of rock raining down as well. Koga puts Koki down.

“ K-Koga!” one says.

“ All of you...protect Koki!” Koga orders turning his attention back to the harpies.

“ Y-yes, sir...but..”

“ We have to settle this quickly,or..”

“ I know!” Koga shouts picking up a staff with half moon shaped blade, he charges the King.

“ You’re going in alone?!” Koki asks, dumbfounded.

“ Who else?! I’m the only one who can bring him down!!” Koga answers.

“ I can protect myself...thank you!” Koki says annoyed as two wolf demons come up to him.

“ Quickly our brother...hide yourself!” one says.

“ Brother? Me?” Koki asks confused.

“ You’re our leader’s mate!” the other replies.

“ Now cut that out! I’ll decide whose mate I am, thank you very much!” Koki says angrily.

Another lesser Harpie comes their way and Koki dives out of its reach, as a spear is shove through its head. Unfortunately, its takes the one wolf demon by the arm and carries him back to his nest.

“ Help!” the wolf demon shouts.

“ You’ve got to help him!” Koki shouts.

“ Its too late! It’s taking him to its nest to devour him!” The other says,being totally useless.

“ You’re useless!” Koki replies and looks around for a weapon, he spots a bow laying a few feet from him. He runs over, picks it up and sends an arrow flying straight at the Harpie demon. The arrow cuts the bird’s wing, sending the bird and wolf demon crashing back to the ground.

Koki and the wolf demon’s friend run over, Koki asks “ Are you okay?”

“ We thank you,brother.”

“ Your aim is true.”

“ Of course it is. Now stop calling me that!” Koki replies, then hears his name.

“ KOKI!” It was InuKame, he slices through a lesser Harpie in his path.

“ Kame!” Koki shouts happily, running over to the half demon.

“ Are you hurt?” InuKame asks, his hands resting on Koki’s hips.

“ I’m fine. Except Koga decided on his own that I was his mate....as if!” Koki replies.

“ Why that flea bitten cur....He won’t get away with putting you in harms way like that. Much less trying to force you into something like that!” InuKame replies, glaring up at Koga.

“ That insolent puppy! He picks a choice moment to arrive...” Koga says watching as Koki re-unites with InuKame.
