A year passed since that fateful drunken night Ueda took matters into his hands and confronted Nakamaru. Maru and Ueda are still going strong and very much in love, they couldn’t be happier. But what happens next no one saw coming, who knew the universe had decided to throw an ‘accidental’ wrench into their happy lives. While both Maru and Ueda loved little kids and had decided to wait some years before starting a family...it seems that fate had something different in store for the happy couple.
Maru woke up one morning and heard Ueda throwing up in the bathroom. He yawns and after pulling on some shorts he goes to see what’s the matter, thinking the younger had the flu or something.
“ Are you ok, Tat-chan?” He asks his doubled over boyfriend, while rubbing his back.
Looking up at Maru, he stared into the worried eyes for a minute before saying, “ No, I’m not. I have been sick every day for the past month.” he leans back into Maru’s arms, raising his hand to flush the toilet so his sick goes down into the plumbing system.
“ Have you been to the doctor?” Maru asks, holding Tatsuya in his arms and kissing the top of his head.
“ I have an appointment this morning before work.” Ueda snuggled against Maru, enjoying the warmth and protection his arms offered.
“ Want me to come with?” Maru tucks his long hair behind Ueda’s ear.
“ Nah. You go ahead and go to work, I’ll be fine.”
Maru nods and after helping his sick lover of the tile floor of their bathroom, they shower, eat breakfast ( Ueda’s comes back up), brush their teeth, change and head out for the day.
Maru walks into Kat-tun’s dressing room and flops on the couch next to Koki, who was busy massaging the stiffness and soreness from Kame’s shoulders. Kame slept wrong the night before and he needs a new mattress.
“ What’s up, Yuichi?” Koki asks watching the beat boxer out of the corner of his eye.
“ Its nothing...Ueda’s been throwing up for the past month and we don’t why.” he admits, leaning his head on Koki’s shoulder.
“ I’m sure he’ll be fine.” the rapper says reassuringly, gently kneeding Kame’s shoulder blades.
“ Maybe he’s got a stomach bug or something.” Kame offers from the floor between Koki’s legs.
Maru nods as their manager comes in and says that they have an interview for ML to give in a few days for their new single Fumetsu no Scrum. While the others get to work, Maru waits anxiously for his boyfriend to show up.
Its lunchtime when Ueda comes back from his doctor’s appointment, the waiting room there was packed to the gills for a Tuesday morning. He comes strolling through the door, with a bottle of powerade in one hand and his lunch in the other.
“ What did the doctor say Tat-chan?” Maru asks worried as all hell.
“ Are you alright, Uepi?” Junno says bounding over, his own lunch in hand.
“ Where’s Kame and Koki? I won’t know until the doctor gets my test results back today or tomorrow.” Ueda asks and answers as he starts on his lunch. It was just soup but at least it would keep everyone from treating him like Kame, and nagging him to eat something.
“ They went to get lunch and Koki had to take Rai-chan to the vet. The little dog hurt his foot yesterday playing with Ran-chan.” Junno responds through a mouth full of food.
“ Did the doctor say what he thought the problem was?” Maru was worried since Ueda’s never thrown up like this before, not even when he had the flu.
“ He thinks its just a bad case of the stomach flu, other than that...he’s not sure.” Ueda shrugs and finishes his soup.
Maru sighs and goes back to work, trying not think about the possible reasons why his boyfriend can’t keep anything down. Ueda, meanwhile, went throw up for the 8th time that day. On Ueda’s way back from the bathroom, he gets a call from his doctor telling him that he wants to see Ueda right now. He agrees and heads to the doctor’s office, leaving a worried beat boxer behind.
“ Yes, Doctor. What’s the matter?” Ueda asks as his stomach rolls at the sight of a nurse eating some crackers.
The doctor takes Tatsuya into his office and gives him the news. The poor doctor was confused as Ueda. Stunned Ueda thanks his doctor and drives numbly back to JE and his lover.
“ Shouldn’t Uepi have been back from the toilet by now?” Kame asks curiously as he helps Koki with their new dance steps.
Maru nods as Junno bounds over to him, being his usual energetic self and sits down next to him. Ueda walks through the door just as Junno gets Maru to help him with his solo.
“ Um...Yuichi...we need to talk. Privately.” Ueda said then heads up to the rooftop.
Curious as hell, Maru looks at the other three who just shrug and go back to what they were doing. Thinking its better to go and talk now while his boyfriend was in a talking mood, Maru heads up to Ueda’s favorite hiding spot at work...the roof. He opens the roof door and sees Ueda standing on the edge, staring out over the skyline of Tokyo....just thinking.
“ What’s that matter?” Maru asks, placing his hand on Ueda’s shoulder.
“ You know I’m not one for making things up anymore, right? You know I have long since stopped pretending see fairies.”
“ Yeah I know.”
“ Well, the doctor called while I was on my way back from the toilet. I got the results back from my blood tests and....” he stops trying to find the best way to break the news.
“ And...what? What’s the matter, Tat-chan. Talk to me.” Maru pulls Ueda to his feet and turns him so they’re face to face, only Ueda can’t look at him.
“ I know this will sound insane but...I’m pregnant.” Ueda confesses, still not being able to look at Maru.
“ Pre-pregnant?! How is that....oh my!” Maru pulls Ueda into his arms, he knew that was hard to admit for Ueda. Ueda wraps his arms tightly around Yuichi.
Ueda pulls back and says, “ I’ve been thinking...a lot. I want to keep it. I’ve weighed the pros and cons in my head over and over again. I know we agreed to wait to have a family....but after coming to terms with what’s happened....I really want this baby, our baby.” His gaze never leaving Maru’s eyes.
Maru smiles and says, “ Then we’ll keep it and raise it the best we know how. This is great Tatsuya. I love you so much.”
“ You mean that Maru?!”
As answer Maru just kisses him with love and passion, conveying his true happiness that they are, in fact, going to be parents. They head back down to tell Kame and the others.
“ Um hey guys...we need to talk to you.” Maru says to Kame, Koki and Junno.
“What’s up?” Koki asks as him and Kame stop dancing.
“ Yeah, are you alright Uepi?” Junno asks putting his solo work aside.
“ The reason why I’ve been so sick lately is because I’m....I’m pregnant. I don’t know how but I am.” Ueda confesses.
“ Y-you’re...really?!” Junno stutters.
“ That’s great!” Kame and Koki shout happily hugging Tat-chan.
“ You’re okay with this?” Maru asks confused.
“ Of course. My mom says having children was the one of the best experiences of her life.” Kame says, Junno’s still shocked.
“ I’m happy for you Maru.” Koki says sincerely as they get back to work.
Later that night, Maru’s laying in bed with Ueda’s head on his chest. He’s caressing the stray sweaty strands of Ueda’s bangs from his face. He plants a kiss on the top of his boyfriend’s head.
“ Maru?”
“ Yes baby?”
“ I’m so happy...I still can’t believe this happening.”
“ I am too. I know what you mean but I couldn’t have picked a better person to have this child, than you Tat-chan.”
“ I love you.”
“ I love you too.”
Maru and Ueda finally get over taken by sleep. Even though they didn’t want a family now, they will take what God’s given them happily and look forward to a happy future together.
