Will price be too high to pay for such answers and will he be able to bare the cost?
A/N: Later chapters Koki and only Koki, will start calling "Inu-Kame" just Kame, everyone else will still refer to him as 'Inu-Kame'
The next morning Koki wakes up to InuKame shouting at someone, half asleep he assumes that its Shippo and just rolls over to go back to sleep. But it was a woman’s voice that reached his ears next along with mention of the shard.
“ What are you doing that jewel shard? I said give it here...I’ll hold on to it instead!” Sango shouts.
“ Why? So you can steal it and run off with it to go after Naraku...I don’t think so!” InuKame shouts back.
Koki rolls over and watches the confrontation playing out in front him. He sits up, yawns and stretches...cracking his back as he does so. He walks over to InuKame and Sango.
“ Morning InuKame...Sango.” Koki says.
“ Hey Koki.”
“ Did you know this half demon took the shard you were carrying? He tried to feed me some line about you giving it to him to hold on too...when I asked for it he refused to hand it over.” Sango's attention was diverted by Kirara and didn’t see Koki hand InuKame the Wishing shard last night.
“ Yes...I gave it to him to keep last night like I always do. And he has a name.” Koki says as a matter of fact as InuKame willingly hands over the jewel shard.
“ Idiot!” Sango mutters sitting back down where Kirara was.
“ We heard that!” Koki and InuKame say in unison.
Koki whispers something in InuKame’s ear and after a nod from the half demon, taking the backpack with them they walk off just as Shippo and Miroku wake up. With the other two off occupying themselves with their morning routine, Sango turns to Miroku and tells him what happened.
“ Why does that make Koki an idiot?” Shippo asks confused.
“ Because not even half breeds should be trusted with that jewel.”
“ Actually, that’s the safest place Koki can hide it at night...is around InuKame’s neck. Koki got tired of minor demons trying to steal it in his sleep, so InuKame guards it until Koki takes it back. Sometimes he does and sometimes InuKame keeps it for a week or longer.” Miroku explains.
In a hidden cave some 60 yards from Sango’s village Koki’s calming InuKame down with a little morning party.
“ You know Koki...I should punish you for the ‘big cuddle puppy dog’ comment.” InuKame teases while pressing his hand against the bump in Koki’s jeans...causing the human to moan.
“ Go head...” Koki moans as InuKame rubs against him with their clothes still on, extracting a condom and lube packet from Koki’s pocket.
InuKame smiles and removes their clothing...lightly licking up and down Koki’s length. Koki moans and pants at the feeling InuKame lapping at his dick like he was drinking from a water bowl.
“ You taste so good Koki.” InuKame unwraps the condom and rolls it down his length before tearing open the lube packet.
Remembering how gentle Koki was to him...InuKame goes just as gently.
“ Oh Kame!” Koki moans as he stares into the half demon’s eyes.
When Koki was prepared InuKame asks, “ Are you ready to receive your punishment?” He asks running his hands between Koki’s spread thighs as his legs lock behind InuKame’s back.
InuKame gently pushes in and after Koki’s adjusted and relaxed, Koki pants out “ You know how I like it.”
With that InuKame’s sliding in and out, pounding Koki’s prostrate hard and fast just like he’s in the mood for. Only moans and heavy breathing fill the quietness of the cave their in, Koki just stares into InuKame’s eyes, running his finger tips lightly up and down the half demon’s arms as he keeps pushing into Koki....small moans falling from his lips. InuKame sees and feels nothing for anyone right now but the human under him. Switching angles a bit he drives deeper into Koki causing Koki’s voice to get louder as arches slightly off of the cave floor.
InuKame wraps his fingers around Koki’s still hard member and pumps his hand time with his movements. Its not long before Koki’s shivering and spilling over the half demon’s fingers as his orgasm reaches its peak and explodes. InuKame’s coming a few thrusts later as Koki’s muscles clench around him and he’s coming inside the condom. Panting, he carefully pulls out and after disposing of the condom. InuKame comes back in time to see Koki putting his jeans and boxers back on. InuKame puts his clothes back on as well, soon Koki’s lips cover his in a love filled lazy kiss.
“ That was great, Kame. We should probably get back now, I’m sure our new friend will ask where we went. Don’t worry about the incident over the jewel shard, Miroku and Shippo trust you with it, but most of all....I trust you with it.” Koki says as they walk out from the cave.
“ Um Koki, I’m not fully human...how can you...?” Koki cuts him off, they stop at nearby spring so they can wash the smell of sex from their bodies..
“ What you are doesn’t matter to me...its who are you and what you do that attracts me to you. Even if you were to become a full demon...all I’d see is the person you are even though you might turn evil and slaughter me. If I was to die in this time period I’d want it to be at your claws. Now stop worrying.” InuKame nods. They finish and start walking back.
It still hurts them both that InuKame’s focus and attention still can’t belong solely belong to Koki. But Koki knows that until InuKame’s fully ready to say good-bye and let go of Ren...it never will.
“ So where did those two go anyway?” Sango asks, mainly out of curiosity.
“ They don’t tell us and we don’t ask...or at least I don’t. Shippo does but never gets an answer.” Miroku says as their missing party members show up.
Koki packs up his stuff and his sleeping bag, slinging both on his back. He catches Sango watching his every move.
“ We saved your life and you still don’t trust us, do you?” InuKame asks, seeing the look Sango was giving Koki.
“ She just doesn’t like the idea of you wearing the shard, that’s all.” Koki snorts.
“ No, its just with InuKame being a half demon.....I thought he stole it from you.” Sango says honestly.
“ Why you...!” InuKame starts but Koki gives him the don’t-make-me-tell-you-to-sit look and he shuts his mouth.
“ So where did you two go?” Shippo asks for the umpteenth time.
“ Never mind...let’s just get going.” InuKame says ignoring the young fox’s question as always, turning to Sango he says, “ For the record Sango, Koki wouldn’t have let Naraku kill you if he could help it.”
“ I know. Hey, Koki...these are for you...” she hands Koki a bow and a quiver of arrows. It was one of the few unbroken weapons that she found in the semi demolished armory.
Koki thanks Sango and takes the weapon from her.
“ Now you won’t be nearly as useless.” InuKame snorts seeing the weapon in Koki’s hand.
“ Sit.” Koki says and walks off as InuKame hits the ground. Though he’s grinning as he does so.
They head out to try and locate the castle Naraku’s holed up in but with no leads to go on, its become quite the futile search and they stop to rest after 7 hours of walking.
“ Who’d thought something as big as castle could so hard to find?” Shippo asks.
“ Well...without any leads it is.” Miroku answers.
“ Yeah its like trying to find a large ship in the middle of very vast body of water.” Koki says from where he was laying on the ground, next to the rock InuKame was sitting on.
“ Sango, don’t you remember something, ANYTHING, about the place? After all, that’s where Naraku snared you in his trap...” InuKame asks.
“ I told you! If I did remember, I’d gone back there long ago and taken Naraku’s head off!” She answers slightly annoyed only to ask Koki quietly, “ How do you put up with him?”
“ I’m just used to it, I guess.” Koki responds chuckling a little.
“ --Of course. Shall we give up the castle search?” Miroku asks.
“ Give up...and then what?” InuKame asks.
“ Well gather wishing jewel shards.”
“ If we keep collecting them..eventually Naraku will have to come to us to steal them.” Miroku answers then turns to Sango asks, “ Is that..acceptable to you, Sango? I know you wanted to avenge your family as soon as possible, but...”
“ Yes. It vexes me..but..:
“ I do feel your pain, Sango.” Miroku feels up Sango’s knees as InuKame and Koki (whose now standing) just watch.
“ Oh really...? Well...I’m sure you feel my knees, at least.” Sango says.
“ I can’t believe that sleazy monk..”
“ Well he held back until her wounds were healed at least.”
“ Aaah...the sacrificial palanquin passes through...” a villager says.
“ Let us hope this one staunches the floods.” Another comments.
“ Whose child is this time?”
“ They say the Water God’s white fletched arrow finally appeared at the headman’s residence.”
“...It can’t be helped.”
“ All the other 10 year old children in the village have already been offered as sacrifices.” the villagers talk while they clear away rubble from the flood. While InuKame and company watch the procession.
“ ...Did you hear that?” Miroku asks Koki and InuKame.
“ What exactly do they mean...by sacrifices?” Koki asks, wanting to hear something different than what he was thinking.
“ Honored Headman...our condolences...”
“ Enough of that! If the life of my child will protect our village from the water God’s wrath...then this is what I must do.” The headman says.
“ This ‘water god’ of yours...are you sure its not just a demon?!” InuKame asks.
“ Wha...?!”
“ Who is he?”
“ Please! You need not fear us. We merely happened to over hear your tale.” Miroku butts in, “ If you would like, we can exorcise this creature for you.”
“ C-can you really do that, Lord Monk?”
“ NO! Don’t be fooled by him! It’s a trick!” The headman shouts.
“ But sir...we should at least hear them out...”
“ Harrumph. And if ‘hearing them out’ should incur the water god’s wrath..then out village will be surely destroyed! And to take this chance now...when it is my own child’s turn..How could I face the parents of the children who have been sacrificed before today?!” the headman says, tears in the corners of his eyes.
“ Oh?” Koki says softly staring at the Palanquin. ‘The sacrificial child...’ He head pops out looking at who was talking. ‘Huh? What is that?’
The headman sees where Koki was looking and looks back in horror.
“ Villagers..we must go!” He shouts, “ We shall deliver our precious offering to the shrine on the lake before sundown!”
They leave, leaving a confused group in their wake. InuKame and company decide to camp on a nearby hill for the time being.
“ I’d say this village should have its headman examined.” InuKame snorts shoving Miroku out his spot next to Koki.
“ He almost acted like he wanted to sacrifice his own child..” Sango says.
“ He did seem to find us quite an intrusion, didn’t he?” Miroku asks.
“ Um, I know this sound sorta bizzarre but...inside that thing the child was in. His looked like a...” Koki starts...
“ Yes?”
“ I saw something..strange.” Koki finishes.
“ Oh that..some sort of mask, no doubt.” Sango says.
“ A mask?”
“ Most likely a part of the sacrificial rite.” Miroku says.
“ Oh...that’s good. I thought the poor child was born like that.” Koki admits.
“ So what are we going to do about it? Just leave it be?” InuKame asks picking up a small rock and then throwing a few feet away from him...hitting someone or something on the head.
“ Akkh!” they hear.
“ Who...”
“ Who or what are you?! You’ve been tailing us for a while, haven’t you?” InuKame asks.
It moves slightly and says, “ Here!” and throws various objects of different values at the group.
“ Take it! I’ll give it to you!!” It was a....child.
“ A kid?” InuKame asks confused.
“ Mmhmm...very high quality..!”
“ This drapery will command a high price too.” Sango says as her and the monk appraise the objects the kid tossed at them.
“ You’ve picked them up. Good! I’ll hire you! You and I...are going to destroy the water god together!” The child shouts.
InuKame glares at the kid for a minute before conking him on the head.
“ I-InuKame! He’s just a kid...!” Koki says surprised.
“ We have to let him know who’s boss!” InuKame says defending his actions, keeping the kid from hitting him.
“ Looks like we’ll be apologizing for InuKame yet again.” Shippo sighs.
The villagers drop off their sacrifice to the ‘Water God’ and leave before said God can make an appearance. The child doesn’t have long to wait until the ferry boat comes to pick the child up, while InuKame and company and the kid hide in the tall grass by the bank of the water...waiting.
“ Its here.” says a villager.
“ It’s the water God’s ferry boat.” says another.
“ The sacrifice is transported to the Water God in that boat. So if we track it...we can skewer the God when he comes up to devour his sacrifice, all right?” The kid says looking behind him.
“ Are you sure they’re not stolen goods?” InuKame asks Miroku.
“ What does it Matter?” he asks.
“ It should matter..you’re a monk!” Koki says shocked.
“ Are you listening to me?!” The kid yells annoyed that they weren’t paying attention to what he was saying.
“ Hey, whose kid are you, anyway?” Koki asks the kid.
“ Its no business of yours!” the kid says being rude.
“ Wow...he’s ruder than you InuKame.” Koki snorts and then smiles as InuKame bops the kid on the head for his attitude.
“ Let me remind you that we haven’t agreed to help you yet, you know.” InuKame reminds him.
“ B-but if we don’t hurry...the whole village will be destroyed!!”
“ What?”
“ That sacrifice..its actually..”
“ Don’t tell me..YOU’RE the headman’s child who was supposed to be the sacrifice?!” Koki asks.
“ Now that you mention it, you’ve got identical eyebrows.”
“ Not to mention an identical arrogance..”
“ Then..who was inside that Palanquin?”
“ I am the village Headman’s heir...my name is Taromaru. My dad, when it was the villager’s kids...told them just to endure it for the sake of the village. But..when the white fletched arrow came to me...he told me to hide and substituted a servant’s kid in my stead.” the child explains.
“ A parent made a fool by his love..”
“ Some fools don’t have to be made!”
“ So..you want to rescue that boy?”
“ Uh huh. He’s my friend.”
“ Uh huh. And you have a boat ready?”
“ We’ll give you our best for the amount you paid us.” Sango says.
“ This isn’t just about payment, you know...” the monk says.
“ But we are going, right?” Koki asks InuKame.
“ Feh. I don’t know if he’s a water god or a demon...But I’m game to slaughter any man-eating creature!” InuKame says, Koki just smiles.
Koki, Miroku, InuKame, Shippo and Taromaru take a small boat, while Sango rides on Kirara down the water to the Water God’s lair.
“ There’s a mist rising...Something’s about to happen, I can feel it.” Sango says from atop Kirara, “ Over there..what is that..?” she asks as a large building comes into view.
“ It’s the water god’s shrine!” Taromaru says.
“ Hmph..which means...this thing’s lair will be just beyond it..”
‘ Wow...that magnificent shrine..in the middle of a lake...’ Koki thinks staring at the shrine in awe.
“ Is the sacrifice already inside...?”
“ No! We’ve got to hurry! We’ve got to rescue him..before they realize he’s a substitute!” Taromaru urges.
They get closer to the front gates when the Headman’s kid ducks down in the boat.
“ Duck! Gate keepers!”
“ And what will you accomplish by hiding?!” InuKame asks as him and Koki leap out of the boat and knock out the gate keepers.
“ Let’s go! We’re in a hurry, right?!” InuKame asks, looking over his shoulder.
The ‘sacrifice’ is taken down to the water God’s room. All three kneel in his presence.
“ Revered Water God...we have brought you the sacrifice.”
“ I see.” The water god says, “ Come closer, lad.”
The child comes closer and bows deeply at his feet. The water god sees the kid’s hands.
“ Eh? These filthy corn encrusted hands..you..are not the village Headman’s child. What is the meaning of this?! Did you believe you could deceive a GOD?!” he asks angrily.
“ Please Lord!! Devour me instead...and forgive them!” the servant child begs.
The Water God grabs the child by the head, picks him up and holds him high in the air.
“ Surely you know that I cannot forgive this...How could I keep my dignity as a God?” he asks squeezing the child’s head, “ The bloody scraps of your body will swirl in the flood I set loose on your village.” he threatens and squeezing the child’s head even harder.
“ Get out of my way cowards!” InuKame shouts as they all burst through the doors, with Koki on his heels.
“ Th-this is sacred ground!” The guards shout charging the group.
InuKame punches one and Koki side kicks another. When they hit the ground they change back into what they once were.
“ Well! It looks like we don’t need to fight these!” Sango says following Miroku.
“ I’d say not! They’re all transformed carp and river crabs!” Miroku answers.
They make it through to the inner sanctum and meet with the Water God.
“ Hmm?”
“ So this is the man eating water god, eh?” InuKame asks.
“ M-Master Taromaru...?” the servant child asks.
“ Suekichi!!”
“ Oh Ho! Under the filthy disguise..here is the real Headman’s child!” the water god says happily.
“ Let Suekichi go...Take me instead!” Taromaru shouts.
“ Hey! What the hell did you hire us for?!” InuKame asks the kid as Koki walks up and stands next InuKame.
“ Water God! What kind of demon are you really?!” Koki shouts.
“ Show your true self!” InuKame yells pulling Tetsusaiga as him and Koki rush the ‘water god’.
The water god reaches for something behind him and counters their attack. Knocking them both to the ground.
“ What the...The fang...its transformation was undone.” InuKame says in shock.
“ You fool...Did you really think your demon blade could stand up against this holy relic...the ‘Amakoi Halberd’?”
“ Don’t make us laugh!” InuKame shouts advancing towards his target.
“ Wait, InuKame!” Miroku says stopping InuKame.
“ What?!” the half demon asks annoyed.
“ This does not look good! From here...I must say that Halberd looks like a true holy relic.”
“ Yeah? So what?”
“ But if he has a real holy weapon...then doesn’t that mean he’s not a demon...that he’s really a God?” Shippo asks from Sango’s shoulder.
“ Feh! Did you come this far to turn cowards on us?!” InuKame shouts.
“ An evil god is no better than a demon!” Koki tells them.
“ No better maybe, maybe...but a little harder to deal with, fools! Anger one of them, and he’ll make you suffer for generations.” Sango argues.
“ We already do.” Koki says looking back at the other three
“ I must agree..that a true god is best left un-angered.” Miroku agrees with Sango.
“ Pity you’re too late...” The Water God grins, “ Mortals..know you the penalty for desecrating sacred ground?” he asks.
“ Let us guess...it wouldn’t be a curse now, would it?!” Koki asks.
“K-Koki!” Sango shouts.
“ Do you think this funny?!” Shippo asks.
The water god taps the staff on the floor and the air swirls and they’re all transported to the lake bottom and the strong currents below. Koki, luckily, grabbed the Taromaru and Shippo and held on to them.
‘ Wha..wh-where? The bottom of the lake!’ InuKame thinks as he rights himself in the water, then he sees Koki. ‘KOKI!’ he starts swimming towards him.
Koki looks back and sees InuKame, he reaches out to him with one hand. InuKame almost grabbed Koki when a boulder falls and lands right on InuKame’s back and head...knocking him out.
‘ No! InuKame!’ Koki shouts in his head, ‘Huh? I’m being pulled up.’ he thinks as he feels his body rising towards the service, he lands with a thud back inside the Water God’s lair.
“ Huh?! I-I’m back in that room..?” he asks lifting his head and seeing their enemy watching the boy under him with a hungry look in his eyes.
‘ He’s going to eat this child! I’ve got to do something...anything!’ he thinks, grabbing his bow.
The servant child grabs a candle stand and rushes his captor with it, attempting to try and knock him out. The Water God...hits the child and sends him flying backwards.
“ Fool.” Was all it said as the servant child hits the floor.
Koki loads his bow and sends the arrow flying..only to be caught with ease by the ‘water’ god, who just laughs at Koki, while Koki glares in return.
“ Heh...dream you that a mortal’s weapon might wound me?” he asks only to have the arrow blast away a section of his arm, “ It cannot be..the body of a god...and a mere arrow...?!” he asks in dismay.
“ I don’t like the looks of this...”
“ I didn’t know it could be that strong..!”
Koki runs over to the servant child and asks, “ Can you run?!”
“ Y-yes...”
“ Could you wake up, already?!” Shippo shouts whacking the headman’s kid.
“ You...shall...rue...this...day...” it shouts.
“ Let’s get out of here!!” Koki shouts and they make a break for it.
“ Suekichi, are you alright?”
“ And you, master Taromaru...?”
“ Thank you! What you did back there saved us!” Koki says as they keep running.
“ Oh, no..”
“ We can’t escape by crossing the water...”
“ We have to find a place to hide...until InuKame shows up!” Koki says rounding a corner, ‘InuKame....You have to live, you can’t leave me.’ he thinks as they duck into the first open door they come across.
Miroku and Sango wound up on a large rock in the middle of the river.
“ Don’t give up Sango.” Miroku checks her lungs, “ Oh my...it sounds as though she’s breathed water. I must give my breath...” he leans down and after one puff of air into her lungs, her eyes fly open and she slaps him.
“ Please...don’t misunderstand. Didn’t Koki touch you anyway?” Miroku asks rubbing the assaulted cheek.
“ That was different. He was helping me change my bandages, he wrapped the back...I wrapped the front.” Sango corrects only to ask, “ Where are we?”
“ Outside the water god’s shrine, it seems...When I came to, I was out here as well.” Miroku answers. Then he sees something floating their way, “ Hmm..” InuKame!”
Two large fish pop up from the water holding InuKame’s head above the water, Miroku pulls him on to the rock with him and Sango.
“ Did you kind folk rescue us?” Miroku asks.
“ We did.”
“ Are you sure you should have done that? From your appearance, you must be attendants of the water god...”
“ That water god...”
“ ....is a fraud.”
“ What do you mean...’fraud’?”
“ Are you saying he’s a demon?”
“ But his aura was not that of a demon, and that holy weapon he wielded...”
“ Once that fellow was a water sprite who lived in this lake, just like the two of us.”
“ An attendant of the true water god.”
“But then, one day, he deceived our August deity. He imprisoned the holy personage, stole the holy ‘Amakoi Halberd’...and took the god’s place. Now, though, he is but a water sprite in soul, while he holds that weapon he holds the power of a God.”
“ None can oppose him..”
“ I see. Then our course is obvious...we must rescue the true water God.” Miroku says.
“ Oh, well...as long as its nothing hard..” InuKame says standing up.
“ InuKame, you’re back among the living?” he asks.
“ I’m going back to that shrine!”
“ Wait...wouldn’t it be quicker to rescue the water god and ask his counsel first?”
“ I’m not leaving him to die!” InuKame shouts and goes back to the Shrine for Koki, ‘ I’m coming Koki!!’ he thinks.
“ That bastard...I’ll skewer him alive!” The fake water god searches his Shrine. “ Heh heh heh..wound my arm will you, you worm...?”
“ He’s coming closer...” Taromaru whispers.
“ Shh!” Koki hushes the child. ‘ I’ve got to protect these children until InuKame gets here.’
The fake water god walks past the room Koki, Shippo and the children are hiding in.
“ H-He’s not coming?” one of the kids ask. Then Koki hears a noise behind them, he whips around and sends another arrow whizzing past its head...missing the sprite by inches.
“ Heh heh heh..You’ll never get away...”
“ Go..get out of here...hurry!” Koki shouts.
Taromaru tries the door...its stuck!
“ I-It won’t open?!” the kid shouts.
“ Little worm...I’ll kill you first!” the sprite says.
Koki gets ready to fire another arrow...when the sprite extends its arm and grabs Koki around the ankle. Knocking him to the ground, he turns his head and sees the tip of the sprite’s weapon coming at him threatening to spear him.
‘ Shit! I’m going to be speared!’ Koki thinks shutting his eyes just as InuKame comes bursting through the door. He blocks the attack with Tetsusaiga.
“ InuKame!” Koki shouts relieved.
“ You...” And here the sprite thought he had killed the half demon.
“ You little fraud...showing your true colors at last, I see.” InuKame says to the sprite and then looks back at Koki, “ Koki!! You and the brats alright?”
“ Yes. But..”
“ We WERE fine until now, but...” Shippo starts as him and the kids lift the doors off of them
The Sprite disappears into the river.
“ Trying to escape, are you?!” InuKame shouts running outside after the sprite, “ Now where in the seven hells did he...?”
InuKame’s grabbed around the ankle and pulled back into the river, trapped within the sprite’s serpentine like body.
“ You dare call me ‘fraud’, mortal...?” it asks InuKame.
“ I heard the story. If I take that halberd away from you...and you’ll be just another scaly little water sprite!” InuKame shouts.
“ Then try to take it from me!” the sprite sends the halberd InuKame’s way, hitting the bridge behind him...turning it to foam and dissolving it on the spot. InuKame looks and sees that the bridge was dissolved in the middle.
“ Take your turn...and then...,” he cracks his knuckles, “ I’ll rip this phony body of yours to shreds!!” InuKame shouts trying to free himself from the sprite’s body causing a whirl pool to form. He’s dragged down the whirl pool with the sprite, Koki and the others run to the pathway.
“ InuKame!” Koki shouts but he’s too late, InuKame’s been dragged to the bottom out of Koki’s reach.”
Sango and Miroku travel to a cave atop a boulder that holds the true water god captive.
“ Let’s hurry, monk! I’m worried about Koki and the others!”
“ They should be all right. InuKame’s with them.”
“ InuKame..is he strong enough?”
“ Well..if you mean physically speaking then I’d say...oh yes. Quite strong.”
‘ An idiot, in other words..’ Sango thinks.
“ But what side he shows to Koki is a different story.” Miroku says, guessing what Sango was thinking. They get to the top and see something blocking their way, “ Ah. A spell scroll of confinement..”
“ This must be it.”
“ Does someone speak?!” A female voice says from behind the spell scroll.
“ A young woman’s voice...?”
“ Then the water god....is a goddess!”
“ Hasten! Remove the scroll of confinement and end this captivity!” the voice orders.
“ Right away, your holiness!” Miroku says and removes the offending scroll.
A strong light emanates from where the scroll was and after hearing a loud cracking sound, and falling rocks...Miroku and Sango see the water goddess.
“ Th-this is....”
“ The true water goddess...”
“ A bit...small, wouldn’t you say?
“ Indeed I would..”
Back at the water god’s shrine:
InuKame’s still alive...almost under the river with the water sprite still wrapped around his body.
“ Heh, heh, heh...I shall carve you up slowly...” the sprite says baring down on InuKame.
‘ Damn it...I’m out of air..!’ he thinks...now he’s really pissed.
The water demon just laughs at InuKame’s state and thinks with glee, ‘ Nice and weak now, eh...?’ He has InuKame pinned to the river’s bottom getting ready to kill him.
“InuKame!” Koki shouts as his hand moves to the knife he carries strapped to his ankle, ‘ He’s not floating back up to the surface.’ He thinks and just as he places his hand on the knife’s holder, he hears shouting behind him. He turns and sees Sango and Miroku running over.
“Koki!” Sango shouts.
“ Are you alright?” Miroku asks.
“ InuKame hasn’t surfaced yet and he’s running out of air!” Koki says.
“ Let me down, Monk.” The water Goddess commands.
“ As her holiness wishes..”
“Her Holiness...?”
Miroku puts the water Goddess down on the dock next to a confused Koki. They watch as she takes one of her earrings and chucks into the swirling water and says, “ Open to me!”
“ This is it..!” The sprite says but as he’s about to stab InuKame, he sees something fall into the water.
Soon the water parts revealing the water sprout and an unconscious half demon.
“ Wh-what..!” the sprite is surprised and angry.
“ InuKame...where is he?!” Koki asks desperately.
All of a sudden the halberd comes shooting up at the dock. Koki grabs the water goddess and moves just in time.
“ Watch out! The tip of that weapon...” Koki starts just as dock turns to foam.
“ It turned to foam...” the monk was surprised.
“ Heh heh heh..Little frogs...you’ve interfered quite enough. Time to be swallowed!” The sprite leers.
“ Oh honestly!”
“ We’ve come with real water goddess!”
“zzzzz”
“ She’s...asleep?” Koki asks.
“ Hmmm...”
“ I guess she used up all her strength.” Koki says.
“ Already?” Sango asks sardonically.
“ Well..in that case...”
“ We’ll have to take him out ourselves, after all!”
“ You think so? As long as I have the Halberd in my hands..!” The water demon stops when he feels something pulling on him.
“ You fraud!” InuKame shouts ripping into the sprite’s flesh.
“ InuKame!” Koki shouts happily.
“ I gave him back his breath!” Shippo says, showing that he was useful.
“ Feh. It doesn’t matter what you do to my body~it won’t hurt me a bit!” the water demon says then takes off.
“ I will not let you get away!” InuKame shouts grabbing the creature’s body.
“ Do you think I want to? NEVER!” he responds.
Sango rushes forward, she looks down and sees Kirara. Kirara changes and Sango gets on her back, flying after the water sprite demon. She looks over and sees InuKame clinging to the demon sprite’s snake-like body.
“ The half dead fool...He should stand back and let me take care of this!” Sango says mainly to Kirara, but InuKame heard her anyway.
“ What...?!” He shouts.
“ To kill these snake-like ones..The head must be gotten rid of!” She explains as Kirara gets closer.
“ Boomerang Bone!!” Sango shouts and throws her boomerang only for the Water demon sprite to block it with the Halberd and it goes back to Sango.
“ You love to annoy me, don’t you?! Now..you minnows will see the true power of the Holy Amakoi Halberd!” He holds up to the clouds and they hear a loud roaring noise as the sky darkens over their heads.
“ What? Rain clouds?”
“ He’s summoning rain clouds?!” the headman’s son asks astonished.
Sango throws her weapon again, only to have it again blocked.
“ Its no use!” the sprite shouts as he creates typhoons and sends them Sango’s way.
“ Wha...?!” Sango’s knocked off of Kirara by one of the typhoons.
As she’s falling the water sprite comes at her Halberd pointed right at her chest. But InuKame comes out of nowhere and grabs water sprite’s arm and Halbred, Sango lands back on Kirara.
“ Give it up...you imitation God!” InuKame shouts.
“ You...”
“ Where in hell did you come pop out from?!” Sango asks surprised righting herself as she landed back on Kirara.
“ I was climbing up his body...while you were busy playing decoy for me.” InuKame responds.
“ Y-you dare call me a decoy?!” Sango asks outraged.
InuKame grabs the Halberd, intent on taking it back on way or another. While the typhoons speed across the lake heading towards the shrine and the village.
“ They’re heading towards the village!” Koki shouts.
“ Now I’m going to be taking this back! Give it up, you fake!” InuKame shouts ripping the arm holding the Halberd from the sprite’s body.
“ He took more than the Halberd!” Sango says to Kirara.
While InuKame fights to keep the Halberd from getting back into the hands, or rather mouth, of the water snake sprite. He even goes so far as to punch it on the head when it bites down on InuKame’s arm.
“ We did it! Right?” Shippo asks from Koki’s shoulder.
“ The typhoons are still blowing!” Miroku shouts.
The villagers and headman see the powerful winds heading towards their homes and lively hoods. They start to panic, confused since the offering should’ve kept this from happening.
“ Wh-what does this mean?!” One villager asks.
“ Yet we offered the Headman’s own son, young master Taro-Maru, in sacrifice to the water God!” another says.
‘ I daren’t let them learn...that to save my own child, I sent a substitute as the sacrifice..’ the Headman thinks as his village is about to be washed and blown away.
“ It would be nothing to quell these typhoons.” The Water Goddess says, waking up from her nap.
“ Really? Then let’s do it.” Koki says anxiously. ‘ Hurry, before InuKame drowns and I lose him too.’ he thinks.
“ Then, please, I beg you...” the servant child says.
“ These winds I shall quickly disperse..when to me the Amakoi Halberd has been returned.” She says to Koki.
“ InuKame! The Halberd...we need it!” Koki shouts to the half demon.
“ Hmmph! And here I though he was worried about me.” he says to himself after freeing his arm from the snake’s mouth he shouts, “ All right--Catch it!” The Halberd lands just short of the dock where Koki was waiting.
“ Shit! The Halberd!” Koki says and goes to jump in after it...only someone else beat him to it.
Taro-Maru jumps in the dangerous waters ahead of Koki and dives down after the weapon.
‘ I am the headman’s child! If I don’t save the village now...How could I face the friends who were devoured by the false Water God before this day?!’ the kid thinks as he hand closes around the Amakoi Halberd. He grabs it and gets to the surface just as one of the snake demon’s coils comes down on knocking him unconscious back into the river, he falls to the bottom..the halberd still in his hand. Sango uses her boomerang to slice the offending coil in half, making InuKame sink under the surface too.
‘That brat...I can’t afford to waste time like this!’ InuKame thinks seeing the kid sink and the snake coming at him, mouth open, poised to bite down. InuKame attacks with Tetsusaiga and cuts the snake down the middle.
One half of the snake flees towards the village with thoughts of at least destroying that. He runs into Miroku standing on the rocks facing the village.
“ He’s still trying to get away!” Sango shouts alerting the others.
“ Not if I can help it! I’ll deal with the clean up, you guys stop the winds...WIND TUNNEL!!” Miroku shouts opening his hand and sucking what’s left of the snake like demon into the void that Naraku cursed his family with.
“ We DID do it!” Shippo shouts.
“ Wait...where’s Taromaru-kun and InuKame?!” Koki asks then sees the halberd pop up out of the water followed by the two people in question.
“ What kids will do for attention!” InuKame huffs, annoyed at the brat’s rash actions.
“ InuKame!” Koki says relieved.
“ Master Taromaru!” the servant child shouts happily.
Koki takes the halberd and gives it back to the true water goddess.
“ You Holiness...this belongs to you.” Koki holds it out for her.
“ We are grateful....” she touches the Halberd and grows back to her normal size, “ Excellent.” She takes the Halberd from Koki and points it in the air and commands for the typhoons to depart. The skies clear and the river’s water calms down.
“ The winds..they’ve dispersed..” a villager comments.
“ Forgive me, Suekichi.” The headman says in regret.
“ Oh, no, Master, Do not apologize. Master Taro-Maru came to my rescue after all.” the child says.
“ Have those kind folk already left?” Suekuichi asks Taromaru as they watch from a hilltop.
“ Yes...I didn’t have the chance to thank them properly.
InuKame and company leave the village in peace, with gifts from the headmaster in order to keep the truth from getting out. InuKame seems irritated as usual.
“ *snort* What a ridiculous detour that was!” InuKame says.
“ But well worth it in the end. We were able to help simple fold in need.” Miroku says atop a single horse cart.
“ And what is all this cargo?” the half demon asks dryly.
“ Oh that. I insisted to the Headman that his son had comported himself quite nobly, and when I offered to regale the villagers with the details of his heroics. Well...suddenly out came all this.” Miroku explains.
“ That’s what they call blackmail!” InuKame shouts indignantly.
“ What kind of monk is he?” Sango asks Koki and Shippo.
“ His own kind..” Koki sighs and Shippo nods.
“ Let’s sell this and have ourselves a feast!”
“ He’s right InuKame...we need food.”
“ Have you forgotten that we have a mission!”
