Summary: Koki is a 22 year old human guy, living a normal but unsatisfied and restless life, gets pulled into Japan's feudal past by an otherworldly creature, where he crosses paths with a dog like half-demon named Inu-Kame. There he discovers his past and future and that not all legends are the work of the imagination. Can ancient history give Koki the answers he's looking for and settle his restless heart? Will price be too high to pay for such answers and will he be able to bare the cost? 
A/N: Later chapters Koki and only Koki, will start calling "Inu-Kame" just Kame, everyone else will still refer to him as 'Inu-Kame'








“ It’s the fate you chose, not only for yourself but for your friend as well.” She says leering at InuKame. “ So Mr. Hero said he’d rather die, than drink an elixir made from human heads!”

“ Who said anything about dying? I just meant that I don’t need to drink your slop...to defeat you!”  InuKame says charging at the Peach Lady.

She swings her staff and sends these strange root things at InuKame. InuKame blocks but his arm gets injured and he’s forced back onto the floor, trapped under the bone roots and the Peach Lady’s weight.

“ Kame!” Koki shouts afraid for InuKame’s life, while looking around for a weapon of some sort.

“ You can’t do it without your powers!” Shippo yells.

“ I can’t use my wind tunnel..not with this tiny body.” Miroku says.

“ Koki! Over there..in the corner!” Shippo points to the far side of the room Koki’s trapped on.

Koki climbs over to get the bow and arrow as InuKame gets crushed under the Peach Lady’s sheer weight.

“ Hold on InuKame!” Koki shouts as he goes by.

“ You’ve got a mouth on you, half-breed! Too bad that’s the only part of you that still works..everything else...” She laughs while InuKame just growls and glares at her.

“ Save your effort, young man..that monster can not be stopped by a bow and arrow.” the flower says to Koki.

“ I’ve got to! I can’t let him die!” Koki shouts in anger.

Koki picks up the bow and arrow and shouts, “ Peach Lady...over here!”

‘There’s power emanating from the bow and arrow...this guy is..’ the flower thinks.

The bow snaps in two, Koki curses and throws the pieces away.

“K-Koki?!” InuKame grunts.

“ Heh, Heh, Heh....sorry about that. I’ve never been very good at taking care of my things, it goes that way when you’re utterly invulnerable, don’t you agree? Now get back in line boy. I’ll slaughter you when I’m done with dog-boy over here!” The Peach Lady cackles, choking InuKame further.

“ Don’t..count me out yet!” InuKame growls and snaps part of the spiky root and shoves it in the monster’s eye.

“ Weakling!” she shouts and uses her stone arm to smash the half-demon’s arm, breaking the bone.

“ Kame!” Koki Shouts feeling helpless for the first time.

“ Damn! My arm..its broken?!” InuKame says unable to move his arm properly.

“You must stop her. Please..avenge me and all those who were devoured..” the plant says and uses what energy she had left and turned herself into a bow.

‘She-she sacrificed herself..to become a bow’ Koki thinks picking up the newly formed bow.

“ Now..I’ll tear you apart! Then after I get done with you...I’ll work on your little boyfriend over there!” She laughs evilly picking InuKame up by his shirt, keeping her back to Koki.

Koki loads the bow and takes aim. ‘ The shard..I can see it shining through her back..if I can hit it just right then...’ he thinks as he lets the arrow fly.

The arrow hits its target dead on..knocking the jewel shard out of the Peach Lady’s belly.

“ The bow!” Koki watches as it dissolves in his hands.

‘ The shard..was forced out by Koki’s arrow?!’ InuKame watches as the shard falls to the ground.

“ You little prick!” the monster throws InuKame at the wall and goes for Koki instead, “ How dare you!”

“ Whoa!” Koki shouts moving back.

“ Duck, Koki!” InuKame shouts and just as Koki ducks..InuKame rams the Peach Lady and the force carries them both out the window and down the mountain side.

Koki looks over in time to see InuKame falling to down to the rocks below.

“ INUKAME?!” Koki shouts horror.

“ I told you, weakling..you’re gonna die!!” The Peach Lady taunts.

“ M-Maybe..” InuKame says only to think ‘ As long as Koki lives...that’s okay.’ as they fall from Koki’s line of vision.

“ KAME!!” Koki screams as he looses sight of the half-demon.

Koki, Miroku and Shippo ( who are now back to their normal size) head down the mountain..looking for InuKame and the Peach Lady. The Peach Lady they find face down...dead.

“ The Peach Lady’s...dead.” Miroku says.

“ But K-InuKame...where is he?!” Koki asks, feeling his eyes burn.

“ Maybe a pancake with peach topping?!” Shippo offers.

“ NO! He’s not dead...h-he can’t be. He just can’t!” Koki shouts.

While the other three try to move the Peach Lady to see if InuKame’s under her. InuKame wakes up, of all places, on top of the very tree that bears the human heads.

“ Huh...Morning..?” InuKame says...his powers have returned, “ Argh..Blast it...If my demon powers had returned just a little earlier..” then he hears wailing coming from the ground below him.

“ He was injured pretty badly..and he fell from the cliff in his human body! There’s no way he could have survived!” Shippo cries.

“ Don’t cry Shippo. Let us pray for his soul together.” Miroku says comforting the little fox demon.

“ You too Miroku..?!” Koki says, he couldn’t believe how they’re just writing InuKame off like that.

“ InuKame..probably died without regrets. Even as he sacrificed his life..he wanted to save your life, Master Koki.” Miroku explains. InuKame just watches from the tree he was in.

“ Hmph...I still refuse to believe he’s dead. He wouldn’t just leave me like that.” Koki mutters to himself, sitting under the very tree the subject in question is sitting in. He wipes the tears away that fell despite his efforts to stop them, this InuKame notices and gets Koki’s attention.

InuKame breaks a small branch from the tree and quietly climbs down to where he can drop it on Koki without hurting him.

“ What the...?” Koki says feeling something hit his head, he looks up and sees InuKame sitting on the branch above him. InuKame puts his finger to his lips and signals Koki to not alert the others to his presence...yet. Koki smiles and nods as he catches the jewel shard InuKame dropped down to him.

‘ I knew he wasn’t dead. Those two could have a bit more faith in InuKame.’ Koki thinks placing the shard around his neck, tucking it into the garment InuKame let him borrow for the time being.


Waiting until Miroku and Shippo have their backs to Koki and the tree, InuKame quietly jumps from the tree branch he was perched and creeps up behind them and says...

“ If you two are finished...can we get going now?” InuKame was annoyed at them to say the least.


“ You can’t be...alive?!” Shippo cries jumping on InuKame’s arms.


“ Yeah well sorry to disappoint you. Did you really think I’d die from that?” InuKame asks, his arms folded across his chest.


“ See, I told you guys he wasn’t dead. Though the idiot did give me the scare of a life time and made me lose about ten years of my life.” Koki says showing his annoyance over InuKame pushing himself.


“ What are you getting so worked up over?! We’re alive aren’t we?!” InuKame asks.


“ That’s not the point! You were pushing yourself too hard!”

“ So...what’s it to you?” InuKame snorts annoyed with Koki now.

“ Its just...I care about you alright!” Koki shouts.


“ Well who asked you do that?!” InuKame shouts back at Koki.

Koki’s face closes off and after grabbing his back pack, he just walks away. He can’t believe InuKame just said that to him...the insensitive jerk. He knew getting close to InuKame wasn’t going to be easy but they’ve come along way since their first encounter and he won’t deny that InuKame’s words didn’t sting.


“ Idiot! I can’t believe you just said that to him. He can’t help the fact that he cares so much.” Shippo says.

“ I know, I know...I’m going.” InuKame sighs, rolling his eyes and takes off after Koki.



Twenty minutes later InuKame catches up to Koki, he knows he’s hurt Koki and he doesn’t really know why he said what he did. He knows Koki can’t help what he feels and that its not something that InuKame should fault him for.

“ Koki wait up...I..” InuKame starts but Koki cuts him off.

“ No one has to ask me to give a damn about you but I do. Its not something I can just turn off or cast a side. What do you want from me? Do you want me to keep my distance so you don’t have to choose between me and fucking corpse?” Koki asks.

InuKame stops Koki in his tracks and pulls him into the nearby woods.

“ I don’t know why I said that, alright. It was the wrong thing to say, especially to you. I’m not used to anyone giving much thought to my well being, after my mom passed away I had to survive on my own...my mother’s village shunned me after her death...so just..I’m sorry okay.” InuKame explains and he really is apologetic for what he said.

“ When you went over that cliff, Kame, I was afraid I’d never get to fight with you again. But I couldn’t bring myself to believe you had left me like that...I killed my brother and lost my family, I refused to believe that I’d lost you too. I can’t compete with Ren, if I tried I’d lose.” Koki says, they stopped under a large tree.

InuKame slides his fingers in Koki’s and lifts their linked hand to Koki’s eye level and says, “I’m not asking you to compete with Ren. That kiss you and I shared....it was everything I thought I wanted from ‘him’. When I went over that cliff I was happy to die knowing that you’d still live, that me being human resulted in something good. As for your family...you’re not a murderer, Koki. You had nothing to do with your brother’s death, that was his doing, his choice..Not your’s Don’t go...yet.” InuKame puts their hands down.

“ Come on let’s go find the others.” Koki says with a smile and removes his hand from the half demon’s. They head back to where Miroku and Shippo were waiting.

“ Look the heads are...” Shippo says as the other two return, still annoyed with each other but its only for show. Its how InuKame wants to act and Koki’s fine with that.

“ The souls are ascending to heaven.” Miroku says as they head out to find another shard.


A few days later:


“ Now I have to get back in the mood to work.” Koki sighs looking over the designs his team had sent his way for approval.

That was another thing Koki was worried about when he became a Jr. partner/part owner of the his friend’s dad’s game company. He was worried that the guys he worked with would be angry but when Riku told them that they finally have a boss they groaned and the whispers started at once, then when they found out that it was Koki...they all decided to throw a party for him once he came back from his travels.

Being the lead designer of the team anyway, they knew Koki was tough but fair and reasonable and didn’t ask them to do no more work than he, himself, was willing to do. They liked that Koki found a balance between being an easy going boss and hard nosed boss and when became the department head they knew that they didn’t have to worry about their jobs, especially the newbie on Koki’s team who was still making at least one major mistake a month.


“ Maybe I shouldn’t have come back soon. I know that has to be hard for InuKame, having body that’s half human and half demon.” Koki says out loud to himself, staring at the shard chunk around his neck before tucking it away and getting back to work.


He gives the designs back and tells the his team which things need to be done before taking a coffee break. He heads up to Riku’s office to relax for a bit, since Riku’s office has a couch in it and his doesn’t....yet. ‘ When I met InuKame he said that he wanted to become a full demon, using the Wishing Jewel. But he considered becoming full human for Ren...I wonder what he wants to do now?’ he thinks walking into Riku’s office and sitting on the couch.

“ What’s up Koki?” Riku asks looking up from this month’s sales reports.

“ Nothing..just needed a break, I guess. Its a mad house down stairs...was it always that busy or is just that I never noticed before being on the same level as the rest of them?” Koki doesn’t really expect an answer though the response he did get was something that really caught him off guard.

“ Its has but I think its because you can’t keep your mind from worrying about InuKame. Just admit it already...you’re in love with him.”

Koki looks up at Riku’s stupid grinning face and throws one the small pillows at his head. Riku ducks and the pillow hits the large glass window behind him. Riku laughs and joins Koki on his couch.

“ I hope you’re better with a bow and arrow, than you are at pillow tossing.”

“ Shut up!”


Back in the feudal ere, InuKame, Miroku and Shippo were resting around the fire for the night. Miroku’s cooking when Shippo asks...

“ So InuKame, you still want to become a full demon?”

“ Of course I do!”

“ Really?” Miroku asks.

“ Yeah, what good is a weak human body anyway? Its a world full of enemies! One moment of weakness and you’re done for.”

“ Yet you won against the Peach Lady with a weak human body....”

“ And do you know what I had went through to do it, little man?!

“ I suppose not...But tell me this InuKame. When you become a full demon using the jewel’s power..will you still be who you are? Will you be the same person that Koki’s grown fond of?”

“ What do you mean?”

“ InuKame, have you seen anyone do anything good or protect anyone they care about with the jewel shard?

“ No..”

“ Then might that not mean, that in exchange for gaining the power you so desperately seek that you, the bearer, losses his soul.”

“ Hmph! I never said that I wanted to become a good demon anyway!”

“ Yet you still want to protect Master Koki. You want power for that purpose as well. However, when Wishing Jewel grants your wish...you could find yourself slaughtering and devouring Master Koki and Shippo.”

“ ..And Shippo? What about you?” Shippo asks indignantly.


“ I’ll have made a speed getaway.”


‘ Rubbish! That’s nonsense! The demons we’ve encountered so far have been good-for-nothings to begin with! My soul is my own!’ InuKame thinks as the night wares on.


Koki’s been gone for three weeks now and InuKame’s getting anxious, or rather, annoyed at Koki’s continued absence. He goes back for him like he warned Koki he would. He appears in Koki’s time, looking around before climbing from the well and heading to Koki’s apartment. He is thankful Koki keeps his balcony door unlocked, he sees that the living room is empty and goes to check the bathroom and Koki’s bedroom...those are empty as well. He sits on Koki’s couch and before he knows it he’s out like light.


Two hours after InuKame fell asleep, Koki comes home hungry and tired. He unlocks his door and is not surprised to see the half demon in his living room, being quiet and not wanting to wake InuKame up he quietly puts his work bag on the floor next to the couch and heads into the bathroom to take a shower. He gets out, changes and orders a pizza. Thirty minutes later, he’s eating and going over the new specs for one of their current games when InuKame’s nose wakes him up....he smelled Koki’s dinner.


“ Hey Kame, are you hungry?” Koki asks pushing the pizza box in his direction.

InuKame sniffs the box and takes a slice. He takes a bite and found that he liked it.

“ I see you think I’ve been gone too long again.” Koki quips.

“ I told you I’d come back for you and you’ve been away for almost a month now.”

“ Sorry about that. My work load is slightly larger than what it used to be so I have to stay here longer. I’ll come back in two days, I have a meeting to attend with sales reps for our company about a game we just finished and want to market over seas.”


“ So I have to wait now while there’s jewel shards out there, not to mention Naraku’s running loose?” InuKame was annoyed by this and went to sulk on the couch.


Koki sighs and walks over to the couch and sits next to the half demon.

“ Don’t sulk and yes, you do. Look, I can’t help it alright...now that I’ve got a hire position I have more responsibilities. Neither the shards nor Naraku are going anywhere and before you bring it up...neither is Ren’s soul.” Koki says gently.


“ So what you’re telling me is that you’d rather stay here then come back?”


“ What...?! That’s...not..you’re over thinking! This meeting is important...my career has been the only thing that gave me a reason not to follow my brother for very long time now...I can’t just give that up. Then by an odd twist of fate I met you and things changed for me ALOT and now I chose to divide my time between helping you and working. Now that I’m here I have to work and I’m sorry if that makes you feel left out, or like I don’t care. If you don’t want to wait here for two days then that’s fine but right now work is the only thing I have!” Koki shouts.


“ That’s not true, Koki. You...” InuKame starts but Koki cuts him off.


“ Don’t stand there and try to convince me that I have you...when I don’t, not completely and we both you can’t give me that right now.” Koki takes a deep breath and continues, “ Do what you want...I’m going to bed and then I’m going to work the next two days. Good night, InuKame.”

Koki turns and heads into his bedroom, he changes and collapses on his bed. InuKame just stares at the spot where Koki was standing a few minutes before.  The sad part is that what Koki said was partially true...InuKame can’t give him what he wants, now matter how badly the half demon wants to be with Koki. Its out of fear that he doesn’t let Koki get too close to him. He loved Ren and but Koki makes him feel important, like being what he is doesn’t matter. He walks to Koki’s bedroom and stands in the doorway, watching Koki as he sleeps. He knows that if he doesn’t try then he’ll never get what wants and that’s Koki. Its no secret that Koki has eyes only for him and that Ren can never again give him what Koki’s offering.

“ Need something?” Koki asks from the bed.

“ I-I thought you were asleep. I couldn’t give you what we both want...because I was too afraid to let go. But if I don’t start trying then...we’ll both be miserable. Koki I...I do want you...” Koki’s lips cut InuKame off.

After a few minutes of kissing Koki says, “ Then try to understand why I just can’t turn my back on my work. I promise..I’ll come back in two days.”

“ Then sleep with me before I go back.” The half demon says running his hand under Koki’s shirt.

“ Kame I really don’t think...” This time InuKame’s lips cut Koki off, InuKame deepens the kiss and they both feel their mid sections tighten. One or both moan into each others mouths.

Koki grabs InuKame and lays him on the bed. He kisses down InuKame’s neck and removes his clothes at the same time, the half demon moans and arches into Koki’s chest.  Koki removes his own clothes at same time as he’s licking and kissing down the half demon’s abdomen.

“ Are you sure, Kame? It will hurt at first but it does get better.”


“ Yes..now hurry.”

Koki nods and grabs the tube of lube from his bedside drawer. After pouring a generous amount on his fingers and runs a slick finger around InuKame’s entrance and slides it in. The half demon gasps at the sudden intrusion as Koki’s finger starts stretching the muscle for what’s to come. He wraps his other hand around InuKame’s member and slowly strokes it, distracting InuKame from his discomfort. After a minute, Koki adds another finger and then finally a third and by this time InuKame’s rocking his  hips against Koki’s hand. Koki replaces his fingers with his member and pushes in up to the hilt.

He pulls out and pushes in a few times, causing InuKame to moan and growl in pleasure as Koki rocks his body against InuKame’s.

“ Oh...Ko..Koki...don’t stop!”

“ K-Kame...oh..Kame!”


Koki shifts angles and thrusts in deeper, InuKame cries out.  InuKame feels his climax near and says, “ Koki..harder...I’m need to...”

Koki lays one of the half demon’s legs on his shoulder and the other locks around his back. He speeds up his movements..slamming into InuKame’s prostrate and while pumping his hard cock in the process. He has InuKame seeing stars and blurred colors on the outer regions of his vision as he comes hard and fast over his human lover’s fingers, his cum running down Koki’s hand. Koki feels InuKame’s muscles tighten around his length as he thrusts a couple more times before shooting his load inside of InuKame.

Koki uses what strength he has left to carefully pull out and roll off of the half demon. Panting and sweating, Koki kisses the side of InuKame’s head.

“ How was it?” Koki asks, he can’t help but grin.

“ It was...it was...great!” InuKame returns the grin.

After catching their breaths, Koki and InuKame take a shower to clean up. Koki gets out first and dries himself off while InuKame cleans himself up and out, then shuts off the hot water. He grabs a towel and after drying off he borrows a pair of shorts from Koki and crawls into bed with him, after Koki’s done changing the bedding. They fall asleep with InuKame’s head on Koki’s shoulder and one arm wrapped around Koki’s waist.



While Koki’s giving in to the half-demon’s stubbornness...back in InuKame’s time a giant centipede goes on a rampage for reasons no one knows, attacking a village as it does so.

“ Did you hear that?!”

“ Its came from the forest and its coming this way!”

“ The giant centipede has entered the village! Madame exterminator you must save us!”

A lone woman walks forward to face the monstrous insect, her face covered with a breathing mask to keep her air clean in case the thing is poisonous.

“ BOOMERANG BONE!!” She shouts and throws her weapon as the creature attacks...cutting it into many pieces..its juices soaking in to the earth. She looks down and sees a jewel shard laying in the middle of the dead creature’s remains.

“ Just as I thought...a wishing jewel shard.” She says more to herself.

“ Madam exterminator, what is that?”

“ The reason this centipede went on a rampage. I’m going to borrow your shed.” She says and heads into the shed to change her clothes.

She comes out a few minutes later changed and with her weapon on her back..ready to go.

“ Until next time then. If you have need of our services, don’t hesitate to send for us.” she says with a smile.

“ Madam exterminator, what about your reward?”

“ That’s all alright, I’ll just take this...” she holds up the tainted jewel shard, “ After all, in the beginning..the Wishing Jewel came from my village.” she leaves and heads home.


After being told that their client had to reschedule their meeting for two months from now, Koki got the green light from Riku that he could head back with InuKame. It took the group two days to reach the village that was attacked a few days prior. Koki sensed a jewel shard in that direction.


“ What?! A woman walked off with the jewel shard?! When?!” InuKame asks angrily, grabbing a male villager by the front of his shirt.


“ B-but what...” the villager stutters.

“ And who are they? More strange folk?”

“ And after we just rid ourselves of the giant centipede..”

“ Answer me, curse you!” InuKame shouts at interrupting the villager’s whispered conversation.

Miroku steps in front of the half demon and says, “ Be at peace..this fellow is my apprentice monk.”

“ What’s an apprentice monk?” a woman whispers.

“ A Fancy name for his servant, I wager.” a man whispers back.

“ Just who do you think you’re calling a servant?” InuKame asks irritated.

“ Do restrain yourself! Trust me, you’ll only make matters worse!” the monk responds.

Koki and Shippo rest on a large tree that was ripped up from the ground by the large insect.

“ A demon exterminator?” Miroku asks, InuKame just listens.

“ Aye.”

“ And where is this exterminator’s village?”

“ We don’t know. They always come to see about us, so...”

“ So there really are people that make a living out of killing demons, huh?” Koki asks Shippo who nods and continues to suck on his lollipop.

“ So these..exterminators have been collecting shards of the Wishing Jewel?” Asks the monk.

“ Aye..That’s what they’ve been calling it. She said it came from her village..in the beginning.”

That got Koki’s attention and he looks at InuKame.

“ Inu-Kame..did you know about this?” Miroku asks, turning to InuKame.

“ No..by the time I learned of the jewel’s existence..it was already being guarded by Ren.” InuKame answers and thinks, ‘ How the Wishing Jewel came to be...and where it came from..I never thought about it.’


Back in the exterminator’s village...


“ I’m home!” Sango calls

“ Welcome back! What was the prey?” An elderly villager asks.

“ A giant centipede. Its not a lot, but I brought back a few legs and some shell...you can use it to make armor, can’t you?”

A small two tailed cat comes scampering over and jumps on Sango’s shoulder, and starts purring. Sango rubs the little cat and says, “ Shh, shh, its all right, Kirara. I’m home now..were you a good child,mm?”

“ Welcome home, big sister! Father..I mean, the Master...summons you.” A boy calls out running up to Sango.

Sango follows her brother to where their father was praying over a small shrine.

“ Hey daughter, found another shard have you? Good work, Sango!” The man says as he adds the new shard to the ones they already have.

“ Father...will this be enough to pacify the evil power of the shard?” Sango asks.

“ Probably not.”

“ I thought so.”

“ About 50 years ago, we gave it into the safe keeping of a very powerful Priest to have him purify it....but he ultimately died in a battle over the jewel possession’s. All we can do now for now is gather the shards into this village and guard them, until another who possesses the power to purify the jewel appears. Now go rest up for a bit, there’s another job lined up.”

“ Yes, sir.” Sango says stretching her shoulder.

“ You too, Kohaku.”

“ What..me?!” Kohaku swallows at that.

“ You’re 11 now. Its time you experienced a real battle.” His father says.

Kohaku and Sango are off by themselves. Sango’s relaxing with Kirara and Kohaku’s practicing with his weapon.

“ Umm..sis?”

“ Yeah?”

“ Do demons really spit fire and venom?”

“ Sometimes.”

“ Oh...” he sighs.


“ Kohaku, are you...scared?”



“ N-no..not really.”

“ Don’t be. The demons we exterminate are only snakes and spiders and such. As father’s fond of saying, The fearsome demons..are the ones that wear human form. Those are the ones we’ll have to fear if they get their hands on a jewel shard.” Sango explains.

That night the Master, Sango and Kohaku lead a group of exterminators to their next job at a Lord’s castle.

“ Night after night, a giant spider assaults this castle. Many folk within the castle have already been devoured. Can you stop it?”


“ I have brought with me those I trust most from the village.” their father says.

“ Those you trust most..But I see here before me one that appears female! And this..a child?”

“ Those are my own daughter and son..Masters in their own right who vie for the top rankings in the village.”

“ So he says...Good luck Kohaku.”

“ Father, you liar!”

They all turn as they hear the spider demon approaching. They see a large spider coming from the sky.

“ Surround it!” The Master of the Exterminator’s village shouts as they charge the creature.


While within the castle walls....

“ The giant spider has appeared again...?” A young man asks.

“ Yes, however..Now that we have summoned the exterminators, this should be the end of our shared nightmare. It is surely spider’s evil aura that makes your illness persist, young master. All that remains now is your rapid recovery.” An old attendant says.

“ I hope so..I have been yearning for this day..” the young man answers while a battle rages on outside the castle.

The Spider shoots webs from its mouth right at the exterminators. Kohaku loses his foot and falls over.

“ Wah!!”

“ Kohaku! Just keep calm and forge forward.” his father says helping his son out of the webbing.

“ Y..yes..”

“ I got it trapped!” Another one shouts.

“ I got it! BOOMERANG BONE!” Sango shouts taking out the creature’s legs.

“ Now the death stroke!”

“ I’ll crush the head!”

Kohaku runs to help his father when a small spider lands on his neck, biting him. He’s not himself anymore and since no one’s paying attention, they don’t see the abrupt change in Kohaku.

“ All size and no substance, eh?”

‘ That was too easy...could this spider really be so weak’ Sango thinks as Kohaku starts attacking the people around him, starting with his father first. Taking Sango by total surprise.

“ F-father!!” Sango shouts and turns to see, “ Kohaku?! Why..?!!” She asks not wanting to believe her own brother did what he did.

Kohaku says nothing...only glares with unseeing evil eyes at her.

“ That was our father you killed..” Kohaku gets ready to swing his weapon, “ Kohaku, NO!!” Sango shouts, fighting her own brother. “ I’m your sister! Don’t you know me!”

“ Th-the exterminators...”

“ What is happening?”

“ What amusing entertainment..let them play.” The Lord of the castle says. His guards were confused as he doesn’t stop brother and sister from fighting.

“ Snap out of it, Kohaku!” Sango says as their blades clash, that’s when she sees the silk thread coming from Kohaku’s neck, ‘ Silk...spider silk?’ then she turns back and sees that the Lord of the castle is really...a demon. She pushes her brother off balance and charges to the real spider demon.

“ Its YOU! Demon!!” she shouts pulling out her main weapon.

“ She’s gone mad...kill her!” the demon says calmly.

Two spears come flying at Sango, one clipping the underside of her arm and one hitting her right in the abdomen and her brother’s weapon hitting her in the back. She looks back in time to see Kohaku shivering as he pulls his mask off his face. He looks up and sees his sister with his weapon sticking out of her back, he has tears in his eyes.

“ S..sister..?” Kohaku shouts.

“ Kohaku..” -is he still..?-

“ Oh God! Sango!” Kohaku runs towards his sister when arrows fly over Sango’s head and three of them hit the boy in the chest...he falls to the ground in a heap.

“ What keeps you? They are lunatics! Shoot!” the lord says as Sango staggers to her brother’s body.

“ S..sister...I’m scared..” he says as the light fades from his eyes.

“ Don’t worry...I’m right here..” she says laying her body on his and hugging him. Then another spear hits her and she collapses on Kohaku’s body.

“ Ah..peace in the family..How hear warming..” the Lord starts but his head is severed from his body..blood spouting from the body like a fountain.

“ Your highness..what?”

“ This is not my father. Look closely.” they see a spider with a human face on its back scurry out of the corpse before the young master stabs it with his sword.

“ Th-that’s...”

“ A demon!”

“ The father I knew would never behave so. I knew that he must be possessed, what has happened to the exterminators is a tragedy....Bury them in the corner of the garden. Its the least we can do.”

“ Yes sir!” the guards men do as they’re told.


InuKame and company are still trying to locate the exterminator’s village and not having much success.

“ How vexing! Not a single person knows the location of the exterminator’s village.” the monk says.

“ ‘Somewhere in the mountains’ isn’t much to go on.” Koki responds.

“ Shut up and search!” InuKame barks.

“ InuKame, are you planning to steal the jewel shards from the exterminator’s village?” Shippo asks from InuKame’s shoulder.

“ Duh..what else?”

“ With luck he won’t be exterminated himself, instead.” Miroku sighs.

“ They are professional demon killers, after all.” Koki says but thinks ‘ But I want to know how the Wishing Jewel came into being, and I’m sure InuKame wants to know as well.’

“ An ominous wind..What could it be..?” Miroku asks breaking Koki’s thoughts.

Koki senses a lot of somethings coming closer, he looks up and says, “ InuKame...look! Above your head!”

“ A pack of demons!” InuKame says.

“ Such power! What’s going on? This isn’t your usual demon power...” Koki says.

“ They roil...and writhe chaotically...” Miroku observes.

“...Its blood lust! They’re about to attack something!” InuKame shouts.

“ Quick! Let’s follow them!” Miroku says and they take off after the demon horde.


Back where the spider demon made the exterminators kill each other...Sango is...

“ Curse...it...all..” she pulls herself up and out of her grave, she was still alive, “ I’m not..going to..DIE!” she breaths out.

“ Madam exterminator...you still live!” the young lord says in surprise as Sango glares up at him.

InuKame and company pursue the demon pack to...the very village they were looking for.

“ Is that...?”

“ A fort...?”

“ Then the demon’s target...”

“ Was this.” InuKame sniffs and then shouts, “ The scent of fresh blood is everywhere!” he runs into the fort and stops dead in his tracks with Koki right behind him.

“ My...god!” Koki says quietly

“ They fought back courageously..” Miroku says.

“ Nearly everyone took a demon down with him.” InuKame responds.

“ There’s no doubt that this is place..we’ve been looking for.” Koki says then sees movement out of the corner of his eye, “ Huh? Something’s moving!”

InuKame grips his blade, ready to draw it should he have the need to do so. It was a large demon..cat, with a demon chunk in its mouth.

“ One last demon!” InuKame shouts Tetsusiaga at the ready.

“ Lord InuKame...” a voice spoke.

“ Uh...?”

“ It spoke...?”

“ Calm yourself Kirara. These aren’t enemies.” the voice spoke again the large cat turned into a smaller one.

“ Oh...how cute!” Koki says melting on the spot as the now smaller kitty scratches itself.

“ As I was about to say...Long time no see!” It was myoga, he jumps towards InuKame’s face. InuKame smacks the flea in annoyance.

“ Myoga..you old..” InuKame says.

“ What are you doing here?” Koki asks.

“ You know this flea?” Miroku asks confused.

“ A retainer of InuKame’s. Or a passenger, more like it.” Shippo answers.

The foursome see to the burying of the dead, while Myoga fills them in on what exactly happened here.

“ Ah, yes. This is the exterminator’s home fort, these folk have made a career of this nasty job for many a generation.” the flea says.

“ Which makes it no surprise that demons would hold a grudge against them.” InuKame agrees.

“ True, true...but as for why they struck now..”

“ Hm? Yeah their best fighters were called away to some castle or other..so the defense back home was pretty thin..’

“ But there’s something wrong with the whole deal..makes me wonder how the ones who got called away are doing..”

Koki’s putting wild flowers on the graves one by one as Miroku finishes praying over the last one.

“ I pray that your souls reach the afterlife without losing their ways.” He finishes.

“ Flowers.” Koki says, to the dead and Kirara who was following him around.

“ What a disappointment. We wanted to ask the villagers so many things.” The monk says.

“ Old flea..Don’t you know some things?” InuKame asks looking down at his old retainer.

“ Eh? You mean about the Wishing Jewel?”

“ Let me guess, Myoga--you were doing research about the jewel here?” Koki asks.

“ That I was. It had been bothering me for a while..just what exactly this jewel was. After all, it seems like everyone who gets tangled with it comes to a bad end..so, of course I was worried about your welfare..” Myoga explains.

“ Uh huh. Which is why you ran away when my life got too dangerous.” InuKame says.

“ L-Lord InuKame! How can you slander me so, when we’ve just been blessedly reunited?” Myog asks indignantly.

“ All right. So why did you disappear?” InKame asks but it was Koki and Shippo who answered instead.

“ Got lost? Suffered amnesia?” Koki asks.

“ Over slept for a long time?” Shippo says helpfully.

InuKame gives the flea a dry look and asks, “ Did we miss any excuses?”

“....” Myoga says nothing.


“ I’m so glad..that you, at least, survived.” The young prince says to an injured and confused Sango.

Sango says nothing.

“ Ho! Exterminator...a prince is talking to you!”

“ It is all right, old woman. You may all retire now.” The prince says.

“ B-but sir..”

“ I would speak to this lass alone.” He says to the old woman and they take their leave.

Once alone the Prince says, “ You said your name was Sango, I believe? Please accept me regrets..For your father, your brother and your companions.”

Still Sango says nothing but wonders how this happened to her. While the Prince thinks ‘ What tremendous will to live! Even through such grave injuries.’ Only to have his thoughts interrupted.

“ Young Master!” A familiar voice calls.

“ Is it you..Naraku?” The prince says stepping outside.

“ My lord..I did as you commanded. I rushed to the Exterminator’s stronghold to inform them of the tragedy..But it had already been attacked and decimated.” Naraku says.

“ Tell me the details, Naraku, of what you observed at the Exterminator’s stronghold.”

“ Bloody soil strewn with the corpses of villagers...and striding over them the half-demon who led the assault..InuKame.”

“ Half-demon, you say?”

“ He searches for the shards of the Wishing Jewel that have been scattered across the land.”

“ The Wishing Jewel...? I have heard of it, but...”

“ InuKame desires the power if the Wishing Jewel to become a full demon.”

“ You’re saying that the stronghold of that lass Sango..possesses one of these shards?”

“ It is likely that the exterminators have found at least one. InuKame no doubt realized this when he led his bloody assault.” Naraku speaks nothing but lies...but unfortunately for InuKame and the others neither the young prince nor Sango realize this, believing what he tells them.

“ Sango just lose her father and younger brother..To have to tell her that she has lost even a home to go back to...” The prince says when he hears the doors open violently behind him, “ Sango..”

“ Give me back my weapons..my Boomerang Bone! I’m going to kill...INUKAME!” she shouts in anger.
