Kame woke the next morning embraced in a coldness he’s never felt before, but he finds it comforting all the same and he doesn’t want to let go, but as it is he still has to pay his rent. He opens his eyes to find that Koki is still here and has his arms wrapped around Kame’s waist...” that explains the comforting coldness” he thought as he shook the sleeping vampyre to wake him up.





“ Koki? Hey Koki? Wake up, its morning and I have to get off to work.”  He says as he shakes Koki’s shoulder.







“ Mmm...really? What time is it?”  Koki asks stifling a huge yawn.






“ Its a quarter to eight” Kame says as he goes over to the window and opens the curtains just wide enough to see out, but not wide enough to harm Koki.




“ Man, that’s early. What’s the weather like?” 




“ Its sunny outside, I guess I shouldn’t have kept you here so late”  Kame says apologetically.





“ Its okay, I didn’t feel like going back anyway. This way I get to spend more time with you AND I get to avoid Tatsuya and a conversation over that damned Two Pendant prophecy crap.” Koki said with a smile.




“ Your friends are at it too huh? So are mine and Maru keeps trying to get my pendant from me and he....”




“ Your pendant?”  Koki interrupts.




“ Yeah, this thing..” he takes it off and shows it to the vampyre.




“ Where did you get this?” 




“ My mother gave it to me.”




“Your mother?”




“ Yeah,she said its really old and been in the family for over 200 years but she never knew how it came into our family’s possession. It does something though, it tends to glow at times and it seems to make other people crazy.”  Kame explains as he gets ready for work.





“ How so?”



“ Well, yesterday-right before you showed up- Maru tried to yank it off my neck and when he asked me for it...I noticed an odd shadow pass over his eyes. It was like he was temporarily driven into a power hungry state.”




“ But it doesn’t affect you, Kazuya?” Inquires Koki as he continues to examine Kame’s pendant, at which point he feels a burning sensation on his chest..just over his heart. It seems that his pendant is reacting to Kame’s.





“ No, it never has. The only affect it has on me is a sense of safety and security, though I can’t explain why. All I know is that Maru is desperate to get his hands on it and he claims that some sort of prophetic event is about to take place, and he claim that is his only reason as to why he wants to keep me out of the middle of something that probably isn’t going to happen. But I can sense it holds great power though. Plus I get the feeling he’s hiding something from me, but he won’t admit to it.”  Kame finishes.






“Hmmm....” Was all Koki said as he fell into deep thought and clutched at his chest.




“ What is it, Koki? Are you alright?” Kame asked concerned.




“ I am fine its just...just that...I have been looking for this for quite some time. My father had it long before your household got a hold of it and after his death, I had worn both of them until I was sent by the Count to fight on the Eastern front and it was lost in the battle. It seems my pendant is reacting to yours, Kazu...” Here he pulls out the blue one. “ And you said that it drove your friend into a temporary case of madness but it has the complete opposite response to you?”




“Yeah, does it mean something?”   Kazu asked.




“ I don’t know, I should have something on this back in my library. When the sun goes down I’ll have to go and check on it or if I can get lucky and it gets cloudy enough that I can make back home safely.” he says.





“ Alright, will you come back and tell me what you find out, if anything? Since Maru’s intent on keeping me kept in the dark about everything.” Kame wondered, checking his reflection in the long mirror in the corner by his bedroom closet.




“ Yeah, no problem. You look good, but your outfit is missing something.”  Koki said as he walks up behind Kame.




“ Really? What’s that?” Kame asked slightly confused.




“ This.” Koki whispered as he moved his hands around to the front to place the necklace back around Kame’s neck, to which Kame smiled at the gesture.



“ Now how do I look?”  Kame asked.




“ Perfect.”  Koki answered back still standing behind Kame.




“ Well...I better get going now. Um, feel free to help your self to whatever blood I have in the mini fridge, I can always get more.” He offered and for some reason he felt the need to lightly caress the side of Koki’s face, at which Koki responds by titling his head to the side to give Kame better access.




Managing to pull away the from the vampyre’s embrace, Kame goes to head out for work as he does so, he looks at the guy sitting on his couch and asks...




“ Want to get dinner later, Koki, even though we eat to very different things?”



“ I would love too”  Koki smiled back.



“ Great. Oh and I left my cell number by the phone should you need to reach me for anything.” Kame says and walks out the door.



8 hours later...


Across town Jin, Maru and Ryo were going over everything they could find on the prophecy..which was a very daunting task as they had to spend hours deciphering that which only Kame can translate in a few minutes, seeing as how his father taught him how to decipher ancient texts at a very early age.




“ This is crazy guys...we’re never going get anywhere without Kame”  complained Ryo.



“ I know that, Ryo, but what choice do we have”  Jin said as gave his friend an understanding smile.



“ What time is it?” Nakamaru asked.




“ Going on five o’clock, why?”



“ Because Kame should be getting off of work now and I was going ask him to help us figure out what this stuff says.” Maru said as he gets up and packs away their source material and calls Kame’s phone, a summons to which goes unanswered. So they decided to just head over to there anyway.





“ I’m back! Koki?” Kame calls but doesn’t get an answer, then he sees the note tacked to his fridge:



“ Kame,

It seems luck was on my side and I was able to leave early. I went home to look through my files and scrolls to see if I could find anything. See you later.

                                                                                         Koki.”




Feeling slightly disappointed that Koki had gone home early, Kame changes his clothes and waits for koki’s return. Quite suddenly...Kame hears a knock on his door, excitedly he gets up and answers it.



“ Hey Koki!” Kame says as his face lights up. He steps aside so Koki can come in.



“ Hey Kame, sorry for leaving so abruptly.”  Koki apologizes.



“ Its okay. Did you find out anything more about what we discussed this morning?”



“ Unfortunately...no. I forgot I loaned all that stuff to Ueda and he seems to have hidden it in his room somewhere.  He wasn’t around when I got there so I couldn’t ask him to give it back.”




“ Its no big deal, when ever he gives it back to you is fine I’ll wait. So, still want to have dinner?”




“ Yeah, sure.”



Kame and Koki head out for dinner. They just got done with dinner for Kame and they headed out on foot to find a meal suitable for Koki. After about an hour’s walk Kame notices that they’re heading into a part of the city that’s known for its high crime rate, and it made him nervous and uneasy. He shivered as a response to threatening atmosphere.





“ What’s wrong? Are you cold?” Koki asks noticing the shiver that went through Kame.



“ No, I just don’t like this part of the city.” he answers as he stands even closer to Koki.



“ Don’t worry, I am right here and we won’t be here long I promise.” Koki said reassuringly.



“ I always wondered how a vampyre feeds.”




“ Well, now you’ll get to quench your curiosity. Oh look, perfect...a known drug dealer who just happens to have a rap sheet for murder as well.”



Fascinated, Kame watches as Koki lured his victim into a darkened alleyway and proceeded to pierce the guy’s flesh with his teeth so he can get to the sweet nector that was held within the criminal’s veins. After draining the body, he wiped the blood stains from the guy’s neck and tossed the corpse into a nearby dumpster.




“ Full?” Kame quipped.




“ Yep. Wanna head back to your place now, you have work tomorrow don’t you?”



“ Yes, and please don’t remind me.” Kame groans as Koki just chuckles as they head back to Kame’s place.




“ Did you enjoy this evening?” Koki asks as he walks closer to Kame.




“ Very much.” Kame replied as he stares back into those gentle hazel eyes.



“ Me too.” Koki lifts his hand to cup the side of Kame’s face. Leaning in he kisses Kame on the mouth, gently. Sighing contentedly, Kame responds by licking Koki’s bottom lip asking for entrance. Koki’s lips open just enough for Kame’s tongue to slip between his teeth as Kame gently runs his fingers through Koki’s hair. Pulling apart to aquire some much needed air, their hearts racing like they had just run ten miles. Smiling they sit on Kame’s couch with Kame cuddling to his vampyre lover’s side as they start watching a movie. Its only half way into the movie does Kame decide to playfully distract Koki. Coming from the kitchen..Kame takes a towel and throws directly at Koki’s head. Laughing, Koki catches it and throws the towel right back at Kame who ducks just in time. Koki playfully reprimands Kame as yet another towel is sent flying his way.



“ You think you’re cute, don’t you?” Koki says with a grin



“ Yep” Kame retorts as he snaps the towel at Koki’s crotch then takes off running.



“ Why you little....”  Koki says as he takes off after his human lover. They continue to chase each other, Koki finally catches Kame and wraps his arms around him to prevent him from being cheeky again.



“ Gotcha!” Koki laughed as he started kissing down Kame’s neck.




“ Yeah, you did”  Kame responds tilting his head closer to feel more of the gentle kisses being placed up and down his neck..He turns to face Koki as he starts guiding Koki backwards towards his couch, at which point Koki’s legs buckle and he’s falling backwards onto Kame’s couch with Kame landing right on top of him. As Koki moves upwards slightly to kiss Kame’s lips again, they are interrupted by a knock on Kame’s door. Groaning, Kame clambers off of Koki and goes to his door...calling through the door he inquires as to who it is...



“ Yes. Who is it?”




“ Its us, Kame, open up.” Jin calls through the door.



“ Hold on!” He answers back.




Realizing who it is, his gaze shoots back to Koki, not bothering to mask the fear in his eyes.  Walking back to Koki he asks...




“ Why did they have to pick tonight all of nights to drop by? What do we do? I don’t want you to go home tonight, but if they find you here...they will try and kill you Koki.”  Kame was scared now, he didn’t want to lose Koki, despite him being a vampyre.





“ Hmm...I’ll hide out in your bedroom while they’re here and you can just come and get me when you finally get rid of them.” Koki says as he gives Kame a quick kiss and using his speed, he heads for the bedroom just as Kame unlocks his door and lets his friends inside.
