“ Master Koki! I must borrow your metal cart again!” he hops on Koki’s bike and takes off.
“ HEY! Get back here...” Koki shouts, only for InuKame to pull Koki onto his back.
“ Why does he always do that, I’ll never know.” Koki says as they follow the demons and the monk.
“ I’m sure of it now, that painter we met is involved in this matter.” InuKame tells Koki. -he’s using a jewel shard, now I’m beginning to understand what’s going here.- the half demon thinks as they catch up to the monk.
“ Oh! The princess is here.” the painter says, getting excited.
‘ I can’t hold the transformation any longer’ Shippo thinks and changes back just as the painter opens the door to his room.
“ Wha...you’re not the princess! I’ve been tricked!” the painter shouts angrily.
“ Oh well since you figured it out. I might as well tell--” Shippo starts.
“ Kill him!” the painter says and a bull demon attacks shippo.
While Shippo’s running around trying to avoid the bull’s attacks, InuKame and company show up just outside the painter’s home.
“ The aura of demons!” Miroku shouts as they come to a stop.
“ InuKame! Look! Are those...paintings?” Koki asks, standing just a few feet in front of InuKame.
“ Paintings?” the monk repeats as the demonic paintings get nearer.
“ He’s mastered a spell to control the ogres that he paints--But the orges aren’t just an illusion. Koki...get out of there!” InuKame shouts as Koki dodges an attack from the demons.
“ InuKame!” Koki shouts as the half demon and Miroku run over, Koki climbs on for a better view point for his arrows.
“ You know, Miroku, if you’re too scared you can just go home!” he pulls Tetsusiaga.
“ No! This is my mission, I will see it through!” The monk shouts as he follows InuKame.
Koki lets loose an arrow splitting the horde down its center. InuKame slashes at them with his sword. “ You’ve gotten better with that thing!” InuKame shouts, Koki just nods and smiles when InuKame’s attention turns back to the demons.
“ Damn! There’s no end in sight!” Koki says.
“ I’ll put an end to this mess!” the half demon says, then the stench of the blood hits InuKame’s nose and he collapses on the ground.
‘ Shit! The smell is too much for him’ Koki thinks then brings InuKame around.
“ Watch out!” InuKame shouts and pulls Koki to the ground.
“ Huh?” InuKame looks up and sees Miroku.
“ M-Miroku...”
“ Stay behind me, both of you!” Miroku says, before removing the beads from his hand and wrist and using the wind tunnel in his hand to suck in the demons that were after them.
The painter watches from his window and is surprised, “ What? He-he’s taking them all in at once!”
Miroku closes his hand and wraps his hand back up, he’s tired and panting he says, “ This is the first time I’ve taken in so many, it sure does take something out of one..”
‘Dammit! Why did I have to be saved by him..’ InuKame thinks.
The trio hears a strange noise coming from the painter’s place.
“ Now what?!”
All of a sudden the painter comes flying out of the house riding on top of dragon that he painted to get away quickly.
“ He’s getting away!!”
“ Thief! Get back here!” InuKame shouts.
“ InuKame, What’re you...?!” Koki starts.
“ Where’s the shard, Koki?! I’m going to get it back!”
Koki looks and sees a light coming from the tube on the painter’s back.
“ The bamboo tube! Its in there!” Koki shouts back.
“ Not for long it aint!” he replies and goes after painter, jumping on the back of the dragon while Koki and Miroku watch from the ground.
“ Be careful InuKame.” Koki mutters to himself.
The painter looks back and sees InuKame running up, he lets more demons loose. Instead of trying to cut them down he starts punching them.
“ What is he doing?” Miroku asks Koki.
“ He can’t use Tetsusiaga since the smell of the blood will knock him out, so he’s punching them instead.” Koki explains.
“ Move it! I don’t have time for the likes of you!” InuKame shouts and punches his way through.
“ What?!” the painter was shocked.
“ What’s wrong? Run out of ogres? Now...let’s end this!” InuKame says and grips the handle of his blade. “ Now give me that jewel shard!”
“ Idiot! You forget I painted the monster you ride!” the human shouts as one of the heads turns and faces InuKame and breathes fire, engulfing InuKame in flames.
“ InuKame!” Koki shouts from the ground.
“ Not even your bones will be left once the fires of hell have eaten you alive!” the painter taunts, not seeing InuKame’s unburnt hand touch the demon dragon’s neck.
“ The shard...I said give it up!” InuKame growls.
“ No!” the human shouts.
“ He’s alive?! But he’s totally engulfed in flames!” Miroku was surprised.
“ Its his clothes, they protect any who wear it from fire.” Koki says turning to the monk, he’s calm, his voice is even, only do his eyes give any sign that he’s worried about InuKame.
“ Y-you should be dead!” the painter shouts.
“ Do you think I’d allow myself to be beaten by a mere human?!” Now pissed, InuKame pulls his sword and goes to slice the man into pieces.
“ No...wait! Please...spare my life!” he begs, InuKame stops. “ H-here...take it!”
“ The shard..”
“ Without this I won’t be able to control my orges or anything else, I’ll be a normal man!” he pleads.
“ Hmph! The monster who took dozens of innocent lives and kidnapped a princess...is, in turn, begging for me to spare his own life, eh?”
“ If I never stumbled upon this...I was just like anyone else..”
InuKame thinks and sheaths his sword. Out of no where one dragon head grabs InuKame’s arm, while another grabs his leg in an attempt to rip him to pieces. He uses his free hand to punches the head that binds his arm as Koki and Miroku run over. The painter jumps from his creature and lands hard on the ground.
“ That’s mine!” InuKame shouts landing next to where the painter was, crushing the other head under his foot. The painter takes off running.
“ Fool! There’s now where to run!” he shouts running after the painter, he sees the ink from the tube bubble out of the top. “ Let go!” he shouts trying to warn the idiotic human.
“ NEVER! Its mine...its my only...” he stops when the ink that spews from the tube cuts right through the painter’s arm. “ No..” he falls to the ground amidst in a pool of ink.
InuKame watches as the ink covers the painter, taking back what it gave him tenfold.
“ Help...me...” the painter tries to reach for InuKame as he runs over, but he’s too late. The printer’s body desolves in the ink puddle.
“ Fool! I tried to warn you..” InuKame says Koki and Miroku catch up.
“ InuKame..what happened?” Koki asks,
“ The ink was made with blood and liver. It came to take the blood that the artist spilled.” InuKame explains.
“ He was trying to paint the princess.” Koki says, picking up a tattered painting.
“ What moron. How can one paint such untainted purity with tainted ink?” Miroku wonders as he sees the jewel shard Koki picked up.
“ The shard we suffered so much to obtain is soiled by demonic power too.” the monk says.
“ This shard..who should hold on to it?” Koki asks, holding up the now purify shard.
‘ He-he purified of its demonic power’ Miroku thinks.
“ What do you mean...there’s no decision here!” InuKame practically shouts.
“ But he did help us...” Koki starts.
“ You hold on to it master Koki, that wasn’t a trick of my eyes just now..” Miroku says.
Nodding Koki attaches it the the half they already have, while the monk prays over the painter’s soul.
“ What are you praying over him for?” InuKame asks.
“ In death there is no good or evil, all that remains is the mercy of Buddha.” the monk answers.
“ Hey! Did anyone think to ask me to hold on to it?!” Shippo yells indignantly.
“ We would’ve if you didn’t run and hide on us.” Koki smiles and pats the little fox demons head.
“ Mercy? I will never understand you humans.” InuKame says as he walks away.
“ InuKame. You could’ve taken that man’s life, but you didn’t. That’s mercy.” The monk says.
“ Please...don’t make me laugh.” InuKame says when he gets closer to Koki.
Koki climbs back on his bike and him and InuKame set off in search of another jewel shard(s).
“ So, you decided to come with us, you two?” Koki asks.
“ Yeah, I found that’s much more pleasurable to travel with someone as good looking as yourself.” The monk says, then he speaks to Koki’s companion, “ And you too, InuKame.”
Koki chuckles at that but thinks ‘ He may not look it, but he’s really a good guy. Too bad InuKame can’t see that’. InuKame, however, just snorts at Miroku’s comment and walks ahead.
