Koki wakes the next morning to the sound of VERY loud crash coming from his library and from outside his bedroom window, he gets up and walks over to the window and sees that there is a storm approaching even thought the sun was still out, having special screens installed keeps the sun from giving a most undesirable sunburn. He hears another crash coming from the room next door, sighing he goes to investigate all the while muttering to himself about annoying intruders.



“ What the fuck!! The place is a disaster! Who did this?” He yells angrily as a face pops out from the pile of books and scrolls on the floor, he’s taken a back for minute before recognizing the eyes looking back at him...fear evident in every line of the young one’s face..



“ I....I’m s...sorry sir. I di..didn’t mean to wake you or to make a m..mess. I was...” he was cut off by swift hand to his jugular.



“ Give me one good reason as to why I shouldn’t kill you! What were you searching for?” Koki growls.



“ He’s here because I sent him, Koki, now could you put him down please? I like my new changelings kept in tact as you know full well.”  Ueda said as Koki gave him piercing look and threw the young vampyre across the room.



“ I said put him down...not send him flying 20ft. across the room”  Ueda said chuckling.



“ So what in the hell was he looking for that's so damn important that it couldn’t have waited until AFTER I woke up?” Koki asked, scowling at Ueda and pouring himself a glass of blood.



“ You know the legend surround your pendant and the its companion right? Well, rumors are going around that the red one is somewhere in the city and that the course of this stupid war could change in our favor if we could just get our hands on the other one. Since your father left you all the source material, that can’t be found on the Internet, on every legend, myth and prophecy known to our kind and those that link both us and the humans together, I sent him here to see if you had anything about the Two Pendant Prophecy that is suppose to occur.”



“ You! Clean up this mess!” Koki barks at the other guy. Turning back to his friend he says..



“ If I do then it will be further back on the other wall and two rows to the back of the front door. Upper shelf, right hand side.”



“ Thanks Koki. So, I heard you had an “interesting” night last night. There’s a rumor that you met someone...well Koki?” Ueda teased.



“ What business of it is yours anyway? It was nothing really...just saved a guy from being attacked by a couple of perverted drunks is all.”



“ Ohhhh...did you feed on him after wards?”  Ueda asked.



“ The guy I helped out? No, but I feed on some rather tasty drug dealers after we parted ways though.” Koki said off handedly, hiding the real reason why he didn’t drink Kame’s blood that night. Ueda was about to respond when Koki’s least favorite person barges into his library and after helping himself to Koki’s personal blood stock, he says....




“ Why do you always feed off the criminals and the derelicts of society? I find their blood to be rather distasteful. I prefer the blood of the non criminal and of the hunter variety”  he smirks in Koki’s direction.



“ Not all of us are like you Nino” Koki says darkly.



“ I’m done cleaning and I tried to put everything back in the right order, sir”



“ Good...what’s your name?”  Koki says, slightly nicer this time.



“ Junnosuke Taguchi...but you can call me whatever it pleases you” Taguchi answers, still afraid of Koki.



“ Ok...Taguchi, you may go now.”  Koki says and Junno runs from the room as fast as possible.



Turning back to Nino, Koki says....



“ Since you do like to feed off the hunters and the innocent so much..could you at least have better table manners? You’re giving us all bad name.”



“ Yeah, Yeah...whatever” Nino scoffs and leaves.



“ Remind me again why we keep him around, Koki” Ueda said just as annoyed with Nino as Koki is.



“Because, if we kill him then the count will have our heads on a silver platter. Its no secret that he’s the Count’s lover,” Koki explains, “ but better him than me though.” Koki shudders at the thought.



“ That’s right, I forgot that after the death of your father the Count tried to use the red pendant to gain power over you and then you ripped from his neck after he tried to...anyway, you held onto both of them for many years. Whatever happened to the red one anyway?”



“ I don’t know, it somehow got lost when I was fighting against the eastern front, you know the one the faction that  still keeps trying to get our side to join with theirs so they triple their numbers against the humans?”



“ They still haven’t given up on that?”


“ Nope and it wouldn’t surprise me if they were here in Tokyo with us.” Koki said as he gets up from his desk and walks towards the door...



“ Oi! Where are you going? Aren’t you going to help me?”



“ I have better things to do then to go through some musty old scrolls. Besides, I would like to enjoy the day light while its raining outside.”  With that Koki left.




Meanwhile.....




Kame just finished breakfast, his phone rang..it was Maru...knowing full well what he wanted he answers his phone. It was either that or throw the damn thing in river.




“ Yeah, Maru, what is it?” Kame answers in dry tone.



“ Kame, we need to talk. Can you meet me outside?”  Maru replied.



“ Yeah sure” Kame hung up and went down stairs.



“ Yes, Maru?”



“ I have been doing some digging and it seems that the prophecy is actually going to take place, and I don’t want you in the middle of it, Kazu. So, will you please just take the damn thing off and give it to me.”  Maru insisted and Kame noticed a strange shadow pass over Maru’s eyes.


“ For the last time, Maru, I am keeping it and besides, its not up to you what I should do with my life.”  Kame said annoyed.




“ I said..GIVE ME THE DAMN PENDANT!!”  Maru screamed at lunged Kame’s neck in the attempt to yank it off.



“ Maru! What the hell!” Kame yells in shock, gaining the attention of passersby as punches his friend in the hope of bringing him back to his senses.



“ Wha...what happened?”  Maru said waking from his stupor and finding himself on the ground.



“ You just attacked me, idiot. What has gotten into you? First you insist on my joining the ranks of your vampyre hunters society ( Jin thought of the name), then you all but try and rip away the only thing I have left from my mother and I still don’t see why your so intent on keeping me out of something that may or may not take place. What aren’t you telling me Nakamaru? I know you’re keeping something from me.”




“ I am sorry Kame, I didn’t know what I was doing. But I am not keeping anything from you...”



“ Bull shit” Kame snorts.



“ Anyway, Kame, we’re going patrolling tonight. Want to come with?”  Maru changes the subject if only to steer his friend away from what it is exactly that he doesn’t him want to know.



“ No, I have better things to do but call me if you need me to patch anyone up or something.”  Kame says and then he notices a man walking on the opposite side of the street, a very familiar man. Realizing who it was Kame runs over leaving a perplexed Nakamaru behind.



“ Koki? Is that you? But I thought...” Kame started..



“ Oh hey Kazuya. You thought what?”



“ I thought your kind couldn’t be out in the day light?” Kame drops his voice to whisper so Maru won’t over hear.



“ So you knew this whole time? We can just when its cloudy and rainy like this.”



“ Yeah, I figured it out last night as I was falling asleep that no human can move the way you did. I should warn you that my friends are those that you’re at war with.”


“ I know that, Kame, as are you am I right?”



“ Kinda...I just take care of the wounded and the dead. Even though...” He’s cut off as Maru makes his way over and at which point Koki takes his leave of Kame.



“ Well I better get going, Kazu, the rain stopped and the sun will be out soon and I would really love to avoid a nasty sunburn.”  Koki says as his blood starts pounding in his ears.



Feeling his heart flutter again Kame says...” Okay, well I’ll see you later Koki.” and turns on his heels to intercept Maru before he can recognize Koki as the same guy that is in the picture they left at his house. With one last look behind him, before taking Maru by the hospital to check up on Ryo, he checked to see if koki had gotten away in time. He was relieved to see that Koki had gone so him and Maru left for the hospital to check on their friend who was injured beyond what Kame was able to do for him.




Later that night Kame was sitting in his living room watching tv, when he heard a knock on his door, figuring it was probably Maru again..or worse Akanishi..he decided to ignore it. The knocking went for another five minutes and still Kame didn’t get up, “thank god” Kame thought. He just lifted the remote to switch channels when he heard a tapping on his window. Now being really curious he got up and opened his window, and he saw Koki standing on his balcony.



“ Koki! What are you doing here? Why are you tapping on the window?” Kame asked surprised.



“ Well, you didn’t answer when I knocked on your door and, since I heard your tv on I figured you couldn’t hear me so I came around and jumped up to your window to gain your attention. I was bored and in the neighborhood, I thought we could finish our chat from earlier without being interrupted by your friend from this morning.”  Koki said by way of an explanation as Kame continued to look at him, though he wasn’t entirely honest, or rather he left out the main reason why he dropped by. Cause the truth was Koki’s in love and he wanted to see Kame again.



“ Well, come in before someone I know sees you standing out there and decides to come and starts asking questions.”  Kame says with a smile.




“ Thirsty? I got water and a blood pack still in my fridge.”  Kame asked.




“ Sure, I’ll take the blood if you don’t need it. I haven’t had a chance to go hunting yet”  Koki said.



“ Its alright, I have extra and besides I have a friend that works in the local blood bank. He sets me up with it just in case I need for it someone, in this case it would be you.” He answers back as he hands the blood pack over to koki.



“ Not to be difficult, but do you have wine glass or something? Since I am not drinking straight from the source I like to drink from a glass like I used to do before I was turned and when I could still drink normal liquids, other than water.”


“ Yeah sure” Kame hands him the glass and watches as Koki empties the contents into the glass and throws the bag in the trash. They head back into Kame’s living room and sit on the couch.



“ Like I was saying earlier, I’m a hunter but I don’t actually do any killing. I don’t like the idea of killing another being just because they aren’t....” Kame looks away.




“ Human” Koki offers.




“ Yeah. Maru ( the guy you saw me with) and Jin have it in their heads that since my family was killed by vampyres, that I should harbor hatred and want revenge but for one reason or another...I just can’t bring myself to hate your kind. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my family and I do miss them...its just killing for no reason isn’t something I am capable of doing.” Kame says with a slight shrug.




“ How long have you been ‘hunting’?” Koki asked




“ Hmm...4 years. But enough about me, tell me about yourself “ Kame said changing the subject slightly. Well Koki began telling Kame about his life and when and why he was changed, they stayed up late into the night just talking.

Oh, such a fast update, thank you!
Mm so Koki already fell for Kame. I am really curious what he would do to win him. And i guess he has a lot to tell him about his life's story.

And what happened to Maru? Was the pendant who made him like this?

Yeah he did ;)



I guess so since he's been around for over 800 years,lol. But He definitely tell kame his whole life story in one night,lol.



Partly the pendant, yes. There's alot more to what fuels Maru's actions than just a base hatred. Maru wants to end this war on his terms and that which means he wants to absolute control of the power that Kame's pendant carries, and by proxy, Koki's pendant as well. By the same token, he doesn't want anything to happen to his friend.
