Hearing Koki’s confession, Kame turns to face the man that he never expected to mean so much to him. He looks into those gentle, hazel eyes and he knows Koki’s telling him the truth. Smiling Kame leans in and locks lips with Koki, oh how he’s missed the taste of Koki’s lips and the feel of the older guy’s tongue moving in perfect harmony with his. Kame breaks the kiss when their lungs start to hurt from lack of oxygen.
“ I take then that you read my letter?” Kame asked as they sit on the couch.
Pulling Kame closer he says, “ Yeah I read it...and I’m sorry about what I said that day. I should not have lost control like that, but at the time I just didn’t know how to handle all the confused thoughts and emotions that I was dealing with. Um, I’m still not completely over what happened a year ago, but its like you said in the letter...my love for him and for you can share equal space and if I’m not mistaken you still have residual feelings for your ex partner as well, right?”
“ Its okay Koki, I have forgiven you for that. Like I said, I understood where it came from and why you said it. Yeah I do, but that’s not going to keep me from loving you with my whole heart. I love you Koki and I know Maru does too, but if there’s one thing I learned after Tatsuya was killed is that no matter how much you want to..it does no good to wallow in the past.” Kame wraps an arm around Koki’s waist.
“Oh and on my way over I put the lilies back on Yuichi’s grave.” Koki said with an honest smile.
“I’m glad because he really like those, whose name did you put on the card?” Kame asked mainly out of curiosity.
“ Both of ours since he’s helped us out a lot...especially me. If it wasn’t for him, I never would’ve met you and been able to start the healing process.” he kisses the top of his new lover’s head.
Kame stands and pulls his new partner to his feet and wraps his arms around the latter’s neck, while Koki’s arms wrap around his lower back. They crawl out of bed and head into the bathroom for a quick shower, after breakfast they stop at Koki’s place long enough for him to change into some fresh clothes. They pull into the parking lot and after making sure no one’s around they plant a chaste kiss on each other’s lips and head inside. No sooner do they walk in, do a dozen or so heads turn to look in their direction just as Akira walks over to the couple.
“ Um, I just wanted to apologize for blaming you for something that wasn’t your fault. I heard the killer’s confession to his involvement in Nakamaru’s death.” Koki just nods as Akira starts speaking to Kame, “ So Kamenashi-san...um...do you want to get a drink with me later?” Akira finally reveals why he was interesting in what Koki and Kame did after hours.
“ Why you...” Koki starts but stops when Kame glares at him.
“ Sorry Akira, I can’t. I already have someone and he wouldn’t like it too much.” he answers as the Chief calls them into his office.
“Yes, Chief?” Kame asks as they shut the door behind them, leaving an annoyed Akira behind.
“ How are you doing Kamenashi?” he asks.
Smiling at Koki, he tells the chief that he’s doing good and that even though he’s pushing his recovery a bit, he’s anxious to get back to work. The chief just smiles and hands them their next case, file in hand they had back to the car to go over the file.
“ You ready, love?”
“ Lead on, baby.”
They head out to question their first suspect and their brand new future together.
